Route SIM4C Bus Schedule: Times, Stops & Map

The SIM4C is the MTA express bus connecting Huguenot, Arden Heights, Eltingville, Staten Island Mall and Richmond Avenue with Lower Manhattan and Midtown. It serves the Woodrow Road corridor on Staten Island, stops in Downtown Manhattan, and continues to Madison Avenue and Central Park South.

The SIM4C operates on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays, but it is not a 24-hour route. First and last trips depend on direction and service day. The current standard express fare is $7.25, and OMNY is the main payment system.

This guide covers route-specific departure examples, major stops, return directions, fares, transfers, live tracking, service alerts, accessibility and exactly how to use the official MTA schedule.

Quick answer

What Time Does the SIM4C Bus Run?

SIM4C service runs between Huguenot and Midtown Manhattan on weekdays and weekends. The earliest Manhattan-bound weekday departures begin around 4:00 AM. The final scheduled Manhattan-bound trip from the Huguenot starting area is around 7:00 PM.

Huguenot-bound weekday trips begin later in the morning and extend into late evening, with the final scheduled departure from Midtown around midnight.

Weekday to Midtown 4:00 AM First listed trip from the Huguenot starting area.
Weekday to Huguenot 10:20 AM First weekday terminal departure shown in the published service span.
Saturday to Midtown 4:30 AM First listed Saturday terminal departure.
Sunday to Midtown 5:00 AM First listed Sunday terminal departure.
Important schedule distinction The SIM4C is not the same as the weekday-focused SIM4, and both routes can appear together in MTA special timetables. Also, the SIM4C’s first and last trips differ by direction. Always check the trip at your actual boarding stop rather than using only the terminal time.

Current construction notices

SIM4C Alerts: Broadway Stop Relocation and Downtown Detours

Staten Island-bound boarding change near Broadway and Liberty Street

MTA Bus Time reported a temporary boarding relocation affecting Staten Island-bound SIM1C, SIM3C, SIM4C and SIM33C buses.

Regular boarding area: Broadway / Liberty Street.

Temporary boarding area: Broadway / Cedar Street, at the X27/X28 bus stop.

The notice identifies crane operations as the cause. The published alert period is October 26–November 13, 2026, on scheduled weeknights, subject to current MTA updates.

Check whether the Broadway/Cedar Street relocation is active for your trip.

Additional Lower Manhattan Lane-Closure Detour

Other MTA service-alert information has identified northbound Staten Island express-bus detours through West Street during lane closures affecting Battery Place and the Lower Manhattan approach.

Depending on the current detour, affected stops can include Greenwich Street/Battery Place, Trinity Place/Rector Street and Church Street/Fulton Street.

Do not assume every listed disruption is active throughout November. Construction notices, lane closures and special-event detours may have different dates and directions. Open MTA Bus Time, read the current SIM4C alerts and confirm the alternate stop before leaving.

How to Find Your Replacement Stop

  1. Open MTA Bus Time and search SIM4C.
  2. Read the route’s Service Alert section.
  3. Confirm whether you are traveling toward Midtown or Huguenot.
  4. Find the regular stop named in the notice.
  5. Read the replacement stop’s intersection.
  6. Use the map and physical street signs to locate the correct curb.
  7. Check live arrival data again; predictions can be inaccurate during detours.

SIM4C Bus Schedule: First and Last Trips

The following service spans are based on published MTA GTFS-derived schedules available during the November 2026 review. They describe the first and last scheduled departures at the route’s starting terminal, not every stop along the way.

Service day Direction First departure Last departure
Monday–Friday Huguenot → Midtown 4:00 AM 7:00 PM
Monday–Friday Midtown → Huguenot 10:20 AM 12:00 AM
Saturday Huguenot → Midtown 4:30 AM 7:00 PM
Saturday Midtown → Huguenot 6:35 AM 8:50 PM
Sunday Huguenot → Midtown 5:00 AM 6:40 PM
Sunday Midtown → Huguenot 6:30 AM 8:30 PM
Midnight is a date boundary. A 12:00 AM scheduled departure occurs at midnight. If you are traveling late Monday night, verify whether the trip is listed at the end of Monday’s service or the beginning of Tuesday. Always choose the correct service date in the trip planner.

SIM4C Service Frequency

The SIM4C is not scheduled at perfectly equal intervals throughout the day. Service patterns also differ between weekday commutes, Saturday shopping journeys and Sunday trips.

Weekday daytime Many midday departures are roughly 20–30 minutes apart, although larger gaps can occur when service is concentrated on other routes.
Saturday Many daytime trips are scheduled around 20–30 minutes apart. Exact intervals vary with direction and time of day.
Sunday Some departures are spaced around 30 minutes apart, while others are 40–60 minutes apart, particularly outside busy periods.

These are descriptive schedule patterns rather than guaranteed headways. For the broader MTA express route system, including Staten Island SIM route prefixes, read our New York MTA bus schedules and express-route directory. It helps identify other SIM services when your intended trip is outside the SIM4C operating window.

Why SIM4C Has Different First Trips in Each Direction

Express buses are scheduled around travel demand, vehicle movements and their corridor. A weekday service may offer early trips toward Manhattan but fewer returns in the opposite direction at the same hour.

Do not assume that a 5:00 AM bus toward Midtown means another SIM4C bus must leave Midtown at 5:00 AM. Check the opposite-direction timetable separately.

5:00 AM example 86 min Woodrow/Vineland to Central Park South.
5:30 AM example 93 min Woodrow/Vineland to Central Park South.
What these figures mean These durations are calculated from the selected scheduled terminal times. They demonstrate how traffic-sensitive travel time can vary even on the same route. They are not guaranteed arrival times.

Selected Return Trip Information

Published MTA schedule information lists return trips from Central Park South through Fifth Avenue, Broadway, Richmond Avenue, Eltingville and Woodrow Road.

For example, an older official MTA standalone SIM4C timetable shows a weekday 10:20 AM departure from Central Park South scheduled to reach Woodrow Road/Boulder Street at 12:03 PM. That illustrates the timepoint structure but comes from a PDF effective September 1, 2024, and should not be used as confirmation of a current 2026 trip.

Woodrow Road / Vineland Avenue

Appears as the first scheduled timepoint for Manhattan-bound service.

Finishing toward Huguenot

Woodrow Road / Boulder Street

Appears as the final stop of the Staten Island-bound direction.

Do not confuse the two terminal locations. The first Manhattan-bound boarding stop and the last Staten Island-bound exit stop use different Woodrow Road intersections. Check the direction before walking to a terminal.
Common commuter confusion

SIM4 vs SIM4C: Are They the Same Bus?

SIM4 and SIM4C belong to the same general Staten Island–Manhattan express corridor, but they are not interchangeable for every trip.

Feature SIM4 SIM4C
Main Manhattan destination Lower Manhattan Lower Manhattan and Midtown
Midtown Madison Avenue Do not assume SIM4 serves the same Midtown stops. Scheduled Midtown continuation.
Service pattern Primarily weekday peak-oriented. Weekday, Saturday and Sunday trips.
Fare category MTA express bus MTA express bus
Schedule lookup Check SIM4-specific rows. Check SIM4C-specific rows or C-marked rows in combined special schedules.
Combined timetable warning Certain MTA special-day schedules show SIM4 and SIM4C together. The November 28, 2025 special timetable states that trips marked C are SIM4C, while unlabeled trips are SIM4. Do not copy an unlabeled SIM4 departure into a SIM4C travel plan.

Another Staten Island Express Alternative: SIM1C

SIM1C serves Eltingville, Hylan Boulevard, Lower Manhattan and Midtown, but uses a different Staten Island corridor from SIM4C. If your origin is closer to Hylan Boulevard than Richmond Avenue, compare our SIM1C express bus timetable and Midtown stop guide before choosing the bus. The route also has a different overnight service pattern.

2026 express bus prices

How Much Is the SIM4C Bus Fare?

The SIM4C is an MTA express bus. The standard adult express fare is $7.25 per ride, effective from the January 4, 2026 fare change.

Regular express fare $7.25 Standard adult one-way ride.
Express weekly cap $67 Eligible rolling seven-day OMNY fare cap.
Reduced Fare Half fare Qualifying riders, subject to express-bus time restrictions.
Local bus comparison $3.00 Regular MTA local bus fare; not the SIM4C price.

Why Is SIM4C More Expensive Than a Local Bus?

The SIM4C uses the MTA express fare category because it provides regional-style transportation between Staten Island and Manhattan. The local-bus fare does not apply merely because you board at a regular-looking street stop.

How the $67 Express Fare Cap Works

MTA’s 2026 OMNY policy introduced a rolling seven-day express-bus cap of $67 for eligible pay-as-you-go riders. Frequent express-bus customers can benefit by using the same registered eligible payment method consistently.

The express cap covers qualifying subway, local bus and express-bus fares under MTA rules. It is separate from the $35 local bus and subway fare cap.

Payment identity matters A physical bank card and the digital version of that card in a phone wallet can be recognized as different payment devices. Use the same card or device consistently when fare caps and transfer benefits matter.

Reduced Fares on Express Buses

Qualifying seniors and riders with disabilities can receive reduced fares according to MTA rules. The older MTA express-bus timetable specifies half fare outside weekday peak periods, generally 6–10 AM and 3–7 PM.

Check the current reduced-fare eligibility, permitted travel periods and OMNY payment instructions before assuming a discounted express fare will be applied.

Our BM2 Brooklyn–Manhattan express bus guide offers another practical example of how the same MTA express-fare category applies to a different borough-to-Manhattan corridor. It is helpful when comparing express fare rules rather than local-bus pricing.

Check MTA’s official 2026 express fares and reduced-fare rules.

Payment micro-steps

How to Pay for the SIM4C With OMNY

Tap a Contactless Bank Card or Phone

  1. Prepare an accepted contactless credit or debit card, smartphone or wearable device.
  2. Board the correct SIM4C bus at its designated pickup stop.
  3. Tap the OMNY reader.
  4. Check that the payment was accepted.
  5. Use the same device for qualifying additional trips.

Tap an OMNY Card

  1. Get an OMNY card from an approved location.
  2. Add sufficient stored fare value.
  3. Have the card ready before boarding.
  4. Tap the reader on the bus.
  5. Use the same card throughout the seven-day fare-cap period.
2026 fare-media transition MTA stopped selling new MetroCards at the end of 2025 and moved toward OMNY-only fare collection. For a trip in November 2026, OMNY is the safest payment method to prepare. Do not assume an old SIM4C PDF’s MetroCard or coin instructions still describe the current boarding rules.

Can I Transfer Between SIM4C and the Subway?

MTA has transfer-credit rules for eligible express-bus trips and subway or local-bus connections. These differ from simply transferring between two local buses, and an additional fare difference may apply.

Check the current transfer policy, use the same eligible payment method, and avoid assuming the full express fare is refunded or that every return trip is free.

Open the official OMNY website for payment and fare-cap information.

How to Track SIM4C Live Bus Arrivals

Use MTA Bus Time for the current direction-specific SIM4C stop list and available vehicle predictions. A printed timetable is a planned schedule; a live estimate can change with traffic, construction, road closures and operating conditions.

1 Open Bus Time Search SIM4C.
2 Select direction Midtown or Huguenot.
3 Choose stop Match the intersection.
4 Read prediction Check bus distance or arrival.
5 Check alerts Reconfirm your boarding stop.

Open official SIM4C live arrivals.

What Do MTA Bus Time Messages Mean?

Stops away The vehicle was last reported a certain number of stops before your boarding point.
Approaching The vehicle was reported very close to the stop; you should already be waiting in a safe boarding position.
Old data The GPS information is stale. Do not treat the displayed location as an accurate live position.
During detours MTA warns that arrival data may be missing or unreliable while buses are rerouted. Always check the Service Alert section as well as the arrival display, particularly around Battery Place, Church Street and Broadway.
Saturday and Sunday travel

SIM4C Weekend Bus Schedule and Return Planning

The SIM4C is particularly useful on weekends because some related Staten Island express routes are more focused on weekday peak travel.

Saturday

Published service spans begin around 4:30 AM toward Midtown and 6:35 AM toward Huguenot.

Daytime intervals often fall around 20–30 minutes, but the final trips in each direction differ.

Sunday

Published service spans begin around 5:00 AM toward Midtown and 6:30 AM toward Huguenot.

Sunday intervals can be longer, especially outside busy periods. Check the return before attending an event.

Sunday Travel Example

MTA’s older standalone SIM4C timetable, effective September 1, 2024, includes an illustrative Sunday trip departing Woodrow Road/Vineland Avenue at 5:00 AM, reaching Eltingville Transit Center at 5:09 AM and Central Park South at 6:09 AM.

This example explains the schedule’s timepoint structure; it is not confirmation that those exact times are unchanged in the current 2026 service period.

Sunday evening warning Do not assume a bus toward Huguenot departs every 30 minutes until midnight. The published Sunday service span ends earlier than the weekday return span. Plan the last return before leaving Staten Island.

Holiday and Special-Day Service

MTA can publish special schedules for major holidays, the day after Thanksgiving and certain seasonal periods. A special timetable may combine SIM4 and SIM4C rows, requiring you to check trip labels carefully.

Open the current MTA schedule or service-alert page for your exact travel date rather than reusing an ordinary weekday timetable on a holiday.

Rail and local-bus connections

SIM4C Transfers: Eltingville, Staten Island Mall and Manhattan

The SIM4C connects with other transit services at several important locations. Since it is an express bus, check fare differences and stop locations before transferring.

Eltingville Transit Center

A useful transfer point for local Staten Island buses and express services. Confirm the correct bus-stop pole and destination sign for your connection.

Staten Island Mall area

The Marsh Avenue corridor serves an important shopping and local-bus area. Stops can be spread out around mall access roads.

Lower Manhattan

SIM4C stops near several subway stations, including the World Trade Center, Fulton Street and Rector Street corridors. Check walking distance and elevator access.

Useful Manhattan Subway Connections

SIM4C stop area Nearby subway corridor Rider guidance
Trinity Place / Rector Street Rector Street and nearby Financial District subway stations Confirm the closest station entrance and accessible route.
Church Street / Fulton Street Fulton Street complex Multiple subway lines; choose the correct entrance for your intended line.
Church Street / Chambers Street Chambers Street / World Trade Center area Check station access and current service changes.
East 23rd Street / Broadway Flatiron / 23rd Street subway corridor Compare your final destination with the nearby rail stops.
Madison Avenue / East 34th Street 34th Street / Midtown East connections Account for the walk between Madison Avenue and rail entrances.
Central Park South / Sixth Avenue 57th Street and Columbus Circle area Choose the station that best matches your final destination.

SIM4C vs Staten Island Ferry

The SIM4C is a paid direct express-bus option between southern Staten Island and Manhattan. Another journey may involve a local Staten Island bus or the Staten Island Railway to St. George, followed by the free Staten Island Ferry.

That alternative may involve more transfers and walking. Compare the complete journey rather than assuming the free ferry is always faster or that the $7.25 express bus is always the best choice.

Stop-finding walkthrough

How to Find Your SIM4C Stop in Google Maps

Google Maps can help compare walking routes and travel options, but the MTA controls the current stop list, detours and live predictions. This matters around Manhattan construction sites where a stop can temporarily move by a block or more.

1 Enter destination Use the full address.
2 Select Transit Choose public transport.
3 Find SIM4C Match the route and direction.
4 Check stop Review the walking route.
5 Verify MTA Check live alerts and pickup.

If you need help choosing Transit mode, setting an arrival deadline or comparing bus stops on a map, our Google Maps bus routes and public-transit directions tutorial explains the process. Use MTA Bus Time as the final source for the SIM4C’s current physical stop.

Accessibility and safety tip A map pin may not show a temporary curb restriction, missing ramp, closed sidewalk or safe street-crossing route. Check the current street signs and the agency’s service alert before walking to a relocated stop.
Accessible express-bus travel

SIM4C Wheelchair Access, Reduced Fares and Mobility Planning

MTA provides accessible bus services, but the details that matter are the actual bus, boarding curb, pedestrian approach and availability of assistance on your chosen trip.

Boarding equipment

Check the bus’s lift or ramp arrangement, wheelchair securement and operator assistance. Allow sufficient time for safe boarding.

Stop accessibility

Check sidewalk width, curb access, construction barriers, snow conditions and any temporary stop relocation.

Reduced fares

Eligible seniors and riders with qualifying disabilities may receive the express-bus reduced fare under current MTA conditions.

Accessible SIM4C Trip Checklist

  1. Open the MTA SIM4C route and stop list.
  2. Select the correct direction.
  3. Identify your actual boarding and destination stops.
  4. Check whether any stop has moved because of construction.
  5. Review pedestrian access, curb conditions and safe crossings.
  6. Check subway elevator service if transferring to rail.
  7. Confirm any Reduced-Fare program requirements.
  8. Contact MTA if the boarding path or vehicle equipment needs clarification.
Nighttime and unfamiliar stop guidance Some SIM4C stops are outside enclosed transit centers. Plan a safe walking route, allow enough time and avoid waiting in traffic lanes or at a temporary stop that is not clearly marked.

Read official MTA accessible transit information.
