Route Q24 Bus Schedule: Times, Stops & Map

The MTA Q24 runs between Jamaica, Queens, and Bedford-Stuyvesant/Bushwick, Brooklyn, primarily via Atlantic Avenue and Broadway. The route operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although buses are much less frequent overnight.

The Q24 connects riders with Jamaica Station, Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue, Woodhaven Boulevard, Broadway Junction and the Kosciuszko Street area. Some buses operate shorter trips ending at Broadway Junction, so checking the destination sign matters.

This guide explains the current route pattern, weekday and weekend frequency, sample scheduled times, $3 local bus fare, stop changes, subway transfers, accessible boarding and how to find the next Q24 using MTA Bus Time.

Agency MTA New York City Transit
Service 24 hours daily
Adult fare $3.00
Major corridor Atlantic Avenue
Reviewed November 3, 2026
Quick answer

What Is the Q24 Bus Schedule?

The Q24 operates around the clock between Jamaica and Brooklyn. During busier weekday periods, buses can be approximately 7–15 minutes apart. Overnight waits are much longer and can approach an hour.

Weekdays 24 hours Frequent daytime service; longer late-night gaps.
Saturday 24 hours Weekend service with some shorter Broadway Junction trips.
Sunday 24 hours All-day and overnight service with different intervals.
Local bus fare $3.00 Standard adult fare using an accepted payment method.
There is no single first or last daily Q24 bus. Because service runs overnight, trips cross midnight. The correct departure depends on the stop, day, direction and whether the vehicle continues all the way to Bed-Stuy or terminates earlier at Broadway Junction.

For the exact next bus, use MTA Bus Time and search for Q24. Choose your direction, select your stop and review the approaching buses.

Daily operating hours

Q24 Weekday, Saturday and Sunday Schedule

The Q24 provides 24-hour service on all three service-day patterns. However, 24-hour operation does not mean a bus comes every 10 minutes throughout the night.

Day Service span Typical daytime pattern Overnight
Monday–Friday 24 hours About 7–15 minutes during many busy periods Longer gaps, sometimes near 60 minutes
Saturday 24 hours Often around 12–20 minutes Less frequent service
Sunday 24 hours Often around 15–25 minutes Longer waits than daytime

These are approximate service-planning patterns informed by the Queens Bus Network Redesign and published transit schedules. They are not guaranteed headways at a particular stop. Individual trips and branches can have different intervals.

Visual: Why the Q24 Wait Changes During the Day

Weekday peak 7–12 min
Midday 12–17 min
Late evening 20–30 min
Overnight Up to ~60 min

Longer bars indicate longer potential waits, not more buses. The illustration is not a live frequency chart.

How to Check the Exact Q24 Departure

  1. Open the official MTA Q24 schedule page.
  2. Confirm that the route is Q24 Bedford Stuyvesant–Jamaica via Atlantic Avenue.
  3. Open the current timetable and check its effective date.
  4. Choose weekday, Saturday or Sunday service.
  5. Find the direction toward Jamaica or Bedford-Stuyvesant.
  6. Locate the closest published timepoint to your boarding stop.
  7. Use MTA Bus Time for your exact stop rather than guessing from another intersection.
Useful if you travel across NYC regularly: The MTA bus schedule guide for all five boroughs explains how to find official timetables, read route codes, check OMNY fares and distinguish scheduled times from live arrivals.

Do not treat these selected historical timetable rows as guaranteed departures on November 3, 2026. Check the latest MTA Q24 page and Bus Time for your travel date.

How Long Does the Q24 Take?

Short corridor trip 10–25 min Illustrative local segment; actual time depends on stops and traffic.
Jamaica to Woodhaven Blvd 20–40 min Approximate planning range, not a scheduled guarantee.
Longer end-to-end journey 45–80+ min Depending on direction, congestion and whether the trip serves the full route.

Atlantic Avenue traffic, signal delays, Broadway Junction conditions and the Jamaica terminal area can change the total journey time. Check your two actual stops rather than using a single end-to-end estimate for every trip.

Route and major stops

Q24 Bus Stops: Jamaica, Atlantic Avenue and Bed-Stuy

The Q24 links Jamaica with Brooklyn through a series of important local corridors. Its path includes Archer Avenue in Jamaica, Atlantic Avenue through Richmond Hill and East New York, and Broadway toward Bedford-Stuyvesant.

1 Patchen / Lafayette
2 Broadway / Halsey
3 Broadway Junction
4 Atlantic / Woodhaven
5 Sutphin / Archer

  • Atlantic Avenue / Lefferts Boulevard
  • Atlantic Avenue / 124th Street
  • Sutphin Boulevard / Archer Avenue
  • 88th Avenue / Parsons Boulevard area

Selected Brooklyn-Bound Stops

The reverse journey uses different stop sides and some different terminal streets. Important stops include 88th Avenue/Parsons Boulevard, Archer Avenue/153rd Street, Sutphin Boulevard/Archer Avenue, Atlantic Avenue/Lefferts Boulevard, Atlantic Avenue/Woodhaven Boulevard, Fulton Street/Van Sinderen Avenue and Broadway/Halsey Street.

Do not assume a return stop is directly across the street. Jamaica terminal circulation, one-way streets and Broadway Junction bus patterns can move the opposite-direction stop to another corner. Always match the current stop ID and destination sign.

How to Find a Q24 Stop on the Official Map

  1. Open MTA Bus Time.
  2. Search Q24.
  3. Choose the correct direction.
  4. Open the route’s stop list or map.
  5. Find the closest named intersection.
  6. Select the stop and read its stop ID.
  7. Confirm the boarding side and any active detour.
Headsign and destination guide

Q24 Direction: Jamaica, Bed-Stuy or Broadway Junction?

The Q24 route number alone does not tell you whether the bus reaches your destination. In live data, different terminal descriptions can appear.

Q24 JAMAICA PARSONS-HILLSIDE Traveling toward Jamaica

Choose this direction for Atlantic Avenue stops toward Jamaica, Sutphin-Archer connections and the Jamaica terminal area.

Q24 BUSHWICK BED-STUY KOSCIUSZKO ST STA Traveling toward Bedford-Stuyvesant

This indicates a Brooklyn-bound trip continuing beyond Broadway Junction toward the Bed-Stuy end of the route.

Q24 BROADWAY JUNCTION Shorter Brooklyn-bound trip

This bus is not necessarily continuing to Patchen Avenue. If you need Kosciuszko Street or the Bed-Stuy end, check the trip details before boarding.

Common rider mistake A Brooklyn-bound Q24 can display Broadway Junction as its destination. That is not the same as a bus continuing to the Bed-Stuy terminal. Always read the full headsign.

What if You Board the Shorter Trip?

If the bus ends at Broadway Junction, you may need to continue on the subway or wait for a Q24 that serves the full Bed-Stuy route. Check the current MTA trip planner, accessible transfer options and arrival predictions before choosing.

Route-specific 2025 changes

Q24 Queens Bus Network Redesign: What Changed?

The MTA’s Queens Bus Network Redesign placed Q24 changes in the phase effective August 31, 2025. These changes are important when comparing newer route information with older stop lists.

Jamaica turnaround The redesign changed the Jamaica turnaround to use Archer Avenue in both directions and identified 88th Avenue/Parsons Boulevard as the terminal area.
Stop consolidation Some Queens stops were removed to increase stop spacing and improve the route’s operating pattern.
Main corridor retained Most of the established Q24 routing remained, including the important Atlantic Avenue connection between Queens and Brooklyn.

What This Means for Riders

If you used Q24 before the redesign, your old stop may no longer be served. An older PDF, map screenshot or bookmarked stop could point to a removed location.

Check your old stop before walking there. Open MTA Bus Time, select Q24 and verify that your usual stop still appears in the current direction’s stop list. If it does not, check the nearest active stop instead.

View the MTA Queens Bus Network Redesign information for the official route-change background.

Future routing caution: Brooklyn network proposals have discussed additional changes to the Q24 corridor. A proposal is not automatically an implemented service change. Use the active Q24 timetable and MTA’s announced effective dates before describing any proposed replacement as operating.

2026 MTA fare information

How Much Is the Q24 Bus Fare?

The Q24 is an MTA local bus. The standard local bus fare increased to $3.00 on January 4, 2026.

Standard adult fare $3.00 One local bus ride
Reduced fare $1.50 Eligible seniors and qualifying disabled riders
Full-fare 7-day cap $35.00 Eligible OMNY local bus and subway trips
Reduced 7-day cap $17.50 Registered Reduced-Fare OMNY customers

How OMNY Works on the Q24

  1. Prepare an OMNY Card, accepted contactless debit/credit card, smartphone or other supported payment device.
  2. Enter the Q24 through the designated boarding door.
  3. Tap the fare reader.
  4. Check that the reader confirms your payment.
  5. Use the same payment card or device for eligible transfers.
  6. For fare capping, keep using the same payment method throughout the seven-day period.

Visit the official OMNY fare page to confirm fare caps, qualifying trips and current payment policies.

Does Q24 Have a Free Transfer?

Eligible MTA local bus and subway transfers are generally available within two hours when the same accepted payment method is used. The normal transfer rules apply to qualifying journeys; not every combination of services is free.

Same-card rule Tapping your physical bank card and then using that card through a phone wallet can count as different payment methods. For transfer and fare-cap benefits, use the exact same card or device consistently.

Can I Still Pay With Coins or MetroCard?

The MTA stopped selling and refilling MetroCards at the end of 2025 and announced that MetroCard and onboard coin acceptance would end later in 2026. The exact transition status should be checked before relying on either method. OMNY is the safer default for planning a trip.

Cash can be used to purchase or reload an OMNY Card at supported vending machines and retailers. Check MTA’s bus-riding instructions for the latest onboard fare acceptance rules.

Subway and regional connections

Q24 Subway Transfers: Broadway Junction, Sutphin-Archer and Jamaica

One useful feature of the Q24 is its connection to multiple subway and rail corridors. However, the bus does not directly serve every airport or rail platform. Some transfers require walking between stops and station entrances.

Broadway Junction

Important connections to the A, C, J, L and Z subway services, depending on service patterns.

Check the bus stop at Fulton Street/Van Sinderen Avenue and the accessible station entrance before transferring.

Broadway / Kosciuszko area

The western part of the full Q24 route connects with stations along the elevated Broadway corridor, including the J line.

Check whether the arriving Q24 continues beyond Broadway Junction.

Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue

Connections include E/J/Z subway service, the Jamaica Long Island Rail Road area and access toward AirTrain JFK.

Allow walking and transfer time. The Q24 does not run directly to JFK airport terminals.

Visual Transfer Sequence: Q24 to Airport Connections

1 Ride Q24 Travel toward Jamaica.
2 Exit at Sutphin-Archer Check the correct bus stop and station access.
3 Reach Jamaica Station Follow signs for the required rail connection.
4 Check AirTrain Review separate AirTrain service and fare information.
5 Continue to JFK Choose the airport terminal connection.
Airport traveler tip The $3 Q24 local bus fare is not automatically the entire cost of traveling to a JFK terminal. AirTrain fare rules may apply separately. Check the airport connection before starting your journey.

Another Jamaica-Area Route: Q3

If your journey involves Jamaica and JFK Airport, the Q3 bus timetable between Jamaica and the JFK airport service area may help you compare travel options. The Q3 has its own destination, airport-area stops and schedule, so it is not a direct substitute for every Q24 journey.

Atlantic Avenue and Woodhaven Boulevard

Q24 riders near Atlantic Avenue/Woodhaven Boulevard can investigate the Q53-SBS corridor for north-south travel along Woodhaven and Cross Bay Boulevards. Our Q53-SBS schedule with Woodhaven Boulevard transfer points provides the relevant stops, direction and timetable guidance.

Check the precise walking connection before transferring. A crossing or a nearby station entrance may not be directly beside the Q24 stop.

Jamaica to East New York and Gateway Center

The Q24 follows Atlantic Avenue, while the Q8 serves the 101 Avenue corridor between Jamaica and Gateway Center/East New York. For those destinations, compare the Q8 Jamaica–Gateway Mall schedule via 101 Avenue rather than assuming Q24 and Q8 cover the same local stops.

MTA Bus Time

How to Track the Q24 Bus in Real Time

The official MTA Bus Time service can show approaching Q24 buses, vehicle locations, stop information and scheduled arrivals when live tracking is unavailable.

1 Open Bus Time Visit the MTA tracking website.
2 Search Q24 Choose Bedford Stuyvesant–Jamaica.
3 Choose direction Jamaica, Bed-Stuy or Broadway Junction.
4 Select your stop Use a stop ID or intersection.
5 Check arrival Review vehicle progress and service alerts.

Open the official MTA Bus Time tracker.

Useful Stop-ID Example

MTA Bus Time identifies Stop #503174 — Archer Avenue/153rd Street in Jamaica. This is an example of how an exact stop number can be more reliable than searching only for a broad place name such as “Jamaica bus stop.”

Open the MTA arrivals page for Archer Avenue/153rd Street.

Important difference A scheduled departure is the planned time in the timetable. A live prediction uses current vehicle information where available. If a bus is not being tracked, Bus Time may show only scheduled service, which does not guarantee a vehicle is approaching.

What if the Tracker Shows Two Q24 Destinations?

If one bus says Broadway Junction and another says Bed-Stuy/Kosciuszko Street, they may not travel the same full route. Select the trip that serves your intended destination rather than boarding the first vehicle displaying Q24.

Construction and service changes

Q24 Bus Service Alerts: What to Check Before Leaving

Temporary work around Broadway Junction and local road closures can alter Q24 stops. The route’s ordinary stop list may remain visible even when a same-day detour requires boarding at another intersection.

Broadway Junction Track maintenance and street-level detours can change boarding near Van Sinderen Avenue and Fulton Street.
Atlantic Avenue Construction, lane restrictions, traffic incidents and local events may delay buses along the corridor.
Jamaica terminal area Turnaround adjustments, terminal congestion and temporary stop changes can affect boarding.

Recent Broadway Junction Stop-Closure Example

A dated MTA notice for October 31–November 1, 2026 described an eastbound Q24 stop closure at Van Sinderen Avenue/Fulton Street during track maintenance. The notice directed riders to Broadway/Hull Street or a temporary stop on Fulton Street/Van Sinderen Avenue.

Do not treat this expired notice as a current detour. The reported closure period has passed. Use the live MTA service alerts or Bus Time for any new stop restrictions affecting your actual travel date.

How to Check a New Q24 Alert

  1. Open MTA service alerts.
  2. Look for bus alerts and Route Q24.
  3. Read the alert’s active dates and hours.
  4. Check whether it applies toward Jamaica or Brooklyn.
  5. Identify any skipped stop IDs.
  6. Find the agency-listed replacement stop.
  7. Recheck Bus Time because GPS predictions can be less accurate during detours.
Accessible transit guidance

Is the Q24 Wheelchair Accessible?

MTA local buses are equipped for accessible boarding, including low-floor buses and front-door ramps. However, the condition and location of an individual bus stop still matter.

Boarding support MTA local buses provide ramp access, priority seating and wheelchair securement areas. Ask the operator for assistance with boarding when needed.
Stop accessibility Check the curb, sidewalk, street crossing, lighting and temporary construction barriers around your stop.
Reduced fare Eligible riders aged 65 and older or with qualifying disabilities can use the MTA Reduced-Fare program.

Accessible Transfer Planning at Broadway Junction

Broadway Junction connects several subway lines, but accessibility differs by entrance and transfer path. Do not assume that every subway platform or connection can be reached without stairs. Verify current elevator access in the MTA app or official station accessibility information before leaving.

Accessible Journey Checklist

  1. Find the correct Q24 boarding stop.
  2. Confirm the pedestrian path is accessible.
  3. Check whether any temporary stop relocation is active.
  4. Review the accessibility of your intended subway transfer.
  5. Prepare your reduced-fare payment method if eligible.
  6. Allow extra travel time for boarding assistance or accessible station access.

Open MTA accessibility information and rider assistance.

Access-A-Ride: Paratransit eligibility and reservations are separate from fixed-route Q24 service. Riders who cannot use accessible buses or subways for qualifying reasons may review MTA Access-A-Ride eligibility and service rules.

Local rider tips

Q24 Bus Tips That Save Time in Jamaica and Brooklyn

At Jamaica

Use the exact stop near Archer Avenue, Sutphin Boulevard or the Parsons Boulevard terminal area. Several MTA routes operate close together, and “Jamaica” is not a precise boarding location.

At Broadway Junction

Check whether the arriving Q24 continues toward Patchen Avenue or ends at Broadway Junction. This matters if your destination is farther west along Broadway.

Along Atlantic Avenue

Traffic can add time, especially near major intersections and transfer corridors. If you must catch a train or reach an appointment, plan extra time rather than relying on a scheduled minute alone.

Late at night

Service continues overnight, but waits can be considerably longer than daytime. Check the next bus before walking to the stop, and use a safe, well-lit waiting location.

How Early Should You Arrive?

A practical planning allowance is around 5–10 minutes before a normal scheduled Q24 departure. Consider 10–15 minutes for an unfamiliar stop, important transfer, mobility-accessibility need or overnight trip.

Return-trip trick Check the direction and stop for your journey back before ending your outing. The return bus may board at a different corner, and shorter Broadway Junction trips may not serve the entire Bed-Stuy section.
