Route 1 — West Market
Serves the West Market corridor with destinations identified in the current PDF including downtown Akron, Highland Square and Summit Mall.
Weekday express service connecting Akron-area park-and-ride locations with downtown Cleveland, Cleveland State, Cleveland Clinic, University Circle and the VA hospital.
Route number gaps are normal. Akron METRO does not currently operate every number between 1 and 61. Use only the routes listed in the official schedule directory.
Roo Express, Late Night Zone and Grocery Bus
Roo Express
A University of Akron-oriented service listed in the official PDF directory. Campus and academic-calendar operations can differ from regular fixed-route service.
Late Night Zone
A separately published late-night service. Check its current zone map, operating nights, booking or boarding instructions before relying on it.
Grocery Bus
Special shopping-focused trips are listed separately from standard route schedules. The timetable identifies participating locations, pickup points and travel days.
How Akron METRO Routes Spread From the Downtown Network
This diagram groups routes by general travel corridor. It is not a street map and does not replace the official system map or individual timetable.
Many transfers use downtown Akron. The Robert K. Pfaff Transit Center provides off-street bus-to-bus connections so riders do not need to cross a busy downtown street to change routes.

Akron METRO Bus Times and Service Frequency
Operating times vary by route. Some routes begin before the Customer Care Center opens, while other routes end earlier or do not run on weekends.
The official system map uses frequency categories to show how often buses typically arrive during daytime periods. A stopwatch symbol identifies routes that operate every 15 minutes during the day.

Frequency is not a departure promise. Open the route timetable for the exact timepoint. A 30-minute route can have wider gaps early in the morning, late at night or on weekends.

Match the number and full route name, not only a destination that several routes may serve.
Select the direction.
Use the destination heading and confirm whether the table is traveling from or toward the transit center.
Select the service day.
Use the weekday, Saturday or Sunday table. Holiday service may use a limited or adjusted schedule.
Find the nearest timepoint.
Numbered circles on the map correspond with numbered timetable columns.
Estimate an intermediate stop.
Compare the timepoint before your stop and the timepoint after it, then arrive early.
Read bold times correctly.

Have exact fare when paying cash. Akron METRO operators do not carry change.
Reduced-fare proof: METRO lists a SCAT ID, Disability and Senior photo ID, Medicare card or approved proof of age among accepted eligibility documents.
Scheduled time and predicted time are different. The PDF shows the planned trip; real-time information estimates when the operating bus will reach the stop.
No prediction does not prove no bus is coming. GPS reporting, trip setup or a temporary service issue can remove a prediction. Check the timetable and call Customer Care when the trip is critical.

Akron’s main downtown transfer hub has an enclosed waiting area, Customer Care, restrooms, vending machines, an ATM, security, Greyhound service and other passenger facilities.
The RKP Transit Center is on South Broadway Street in downtown Akron. Confirm the bus bay inside the center rather than waiting on a nearby downtown street.

How to Ride an Akron METRO Bus
Plan the trip.
Use the individual schedule, Transit app, MyStop map, Google Maps, Apple Maps or Customer Care.
Check current detours.
METRO states that detours are not included automatically in every trip-planning result.
Reach the correct stop early.
Arrive at least five minutes before the scheduled time and stand a safe distance from the curb.
Confirm the route and direction.
Read the route number and destination display before boarding.
Pay or show the fare.
Insert exact cash, swipe the applicable farecard or display an active mobile pass.
Move safely into the bus.
Keep the aisle, doors, mobility securement areas and priority seating available.
Request the stop.
Pull the buzzer cord or press the yellow touch tape as the bus approaches the destination.
Exit safely.
Use the rear door when instructed, wait for the green light and allow the bus to stop completely.

Akron METRO states that its regular fixed-route buses and SCAT vehicles are equipped with a ramp or lift for passengers using wheelchairs or mobility aids.

METRO currently promotes free weekday rides within its designated downtown Akron DASH area. Confirm the current zone and operating details before traveling.
