Service hours and frequency

B7 Bus Schedule: Weekday, Saturday and Sunday

Brooklyn B7 operates on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Service is most frequent during busy commuting periods, while daytime off-peak and late-evening waits are generally longer.

Service Published span Typical interval Important note
Weekdays About 4:30 AM–1:30 AM About 10–20 minutes in busier periods Midday and later trips can have longer gaps.

How Long Does the Full B7 Journey Take?

Midwood → Bed-Stuy 54 min Example: 6:13–7:07 AM
Bed-Stuy → Midwood 52 min Example: 6:05–6:56 AM, approximately 51 minutes
Morning traffic trip 62 min Example: 7:10–8:12 AM

These are scheduled trip durations rather than measured average travel times. A full-route journey may take approximately 45–70 minutes, depending on the departure, traffic, passenger loading, stop pattern and service day.

Why the same B7 route can take different times Kings Highway traffic, signals, school arrival periods, construction, passenger boarding and the longer northern section through Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant can all affect running time. Allow extra time for important appointments and connections.

How to Find Your Exact Stop on a Map

  1. Open the official B7 route or stop list.
  2. Select the direction shown on your intended bus.
  3. Find the nearest cross street to your starting point.
  4. Check whether the stop is on Kings Highway, Quentin Road, Saratoga Avenue or another street.
  5. Look for the stop’s six-digit MTA Bus Time code where provided.
  6. Confirm the correct sidewalk and bus-stop sign.
  7. Open live arrivals for that specific code before heading outside.

For walking directions to a B7 stop or comparing B7 with B82 and subway alternatives, our Google Maps bus route and departure-time guide explains how to set your starting location, select public transit and verify the correct boarding point.

Avoid boarding the wrong direction

B7 Direction Guide: Bed-Stuy vs Midwood

The B7 has two main destination signs. The sign on the front of the bus is one of the simplest ways to avoid traveling in the wrong direction.

To BED-STUY BWAY–HALSEY

Direction: Toward Bedford-Stuyvesant.

General path: From Midwood via Kings Highway, Brownsville and the Saratoga Avenue / Thomas S. Boyland Street area.

Use when traveling toward: Saratoga Avenue, Sutter Avenue, Eastern Parkway, Fulton Street or Halsey Street.

To MIDWOOD CONEY ISLAND AV

Direction: Toward Midwood.

General path: From the Saratoga/Halsey terminal through Brownsville and Kings Highway to Quentin Road/Coney Island Avenue.

Use when traveling toward: Church Avenue, Flatbush Avenue, Ocean Avenue or Kings Highway station.

The two directions do not use identical stops. Some northbound and southbound B7 trips use different streets or cross-street stops near their terminals. Do not assume the return bus stops directly across from where you got off.

How to Confirm the Direction

1 Read route Confirm B7, not B49 or B82.
2 Read headsign Midwood or Bed-Stuy.
3 Match stop Confirm the posted stop code.
4 Check arrival Use MTA Bus Time.
5 Board Confirm destination and tap.
Bus-to-subway transfers

Where Does the B7 Connect with NYC Subway Lines?

The B7 is useful for cross-Brooklyn trips that would otherwise involve walking between subway lines or making multiple rail transfers.

Kings Highway Station B / Q Near the Midwood end of the route.
Saratoga Avenue 3 Connection near Livonia Avenue.
Rockaway Avenue C Accessible from the Fulton Street / Rockaway Avenue area, with a short walk from the B7 corridor.
Halsey Street J Connection near Broadway/Halsey.

B7 and B82: A Useful Kings Highway Connection

The B7 shares parts of the Kings Highway corridor with the B82 and B82 Select Bus Service. However, the routes have different destinations and stopping patterns.

Important Select Bus Service difference B82-SBS does not stop at every local B82 or B7 stop. If an app suggests B82-SBS instead of B7, confirm that your exact boarding and exit stops are actually served.

B7 and B49 Near Ocean Avenue

The B49 is another Brooklyn route serving the Ocean Avenue and Bedford-Stuyvesant corridor. It is not the same service as the B7, even where their routes meet or pass nearby.

If you need to travel north or south from the Kings Highway/Ocean Avenue area, the Brooklyn B49 may be worth comparing. Our Route 49 guide includes a dedicated section explaining Brooklyn’s B49 service, its destination signs and why the letter B matters when searching MTA routes.

How to Plan a Subway Transfer

  1. Find the B7 stop nearest your intended subway station.
  2. Check whether the station entrance is on the same side of the street.
  3. Review the subway line’s direction and any weekend service changes.
  4. Check elevator status if step-free access is necessary.
  5. Use the same OMNY card or device for an eligible transfer.
  6. Allow time to walk from the bus stop to the station entrance.

Check current subway and station accessibility information using the official MTA accessibility directory.

2026 fares and payment

How Much Is the B7 Bus Fare in 2026?

The MTA increased the regular NYC local-bus fare to $3.00 effective January 4, 2026. The B7 is a local route, so it uses the regular local-bus fare rather than an express-bus price.

Standard local fare $3.00 Most adult riders
Reduced fare $1.50 Eligible senior and disabled riders
OMNY weekly cap $35 Eligible local bus/subway trips within seven days
Reduced weekly cap $17.50 Eligible Reduced-Fare OMNY riders

How to Pay Using OMNY

  1. Prepare an OMNY card, eligible contactless bank card, smartphone or wearable.
  2. Board the B7 through the designated entry door.
  3. Tap the OMNY reader using your chosen payment method.
  4. Wait for the successful tap confirmation.
  5. Use the same payment method for eligible transfers and weekly fare-cap calculations.

Open the official OMNY website to learn about card use, account setup and fare capping.

How Do Free Transfers Work?

OMNY generally provides eligible free transfers within two hours of the first fare payment when the same card or device is used. The same payment method matters even if you have the same bank card stored on a phone.

OMNY fare-cap tip Using your physical debit card for one trip and its digital-wallet version on your phone for another can create separate fare-cap records. Use the same physical card or the same device consistently.

For the latest rules and fare details, see official MTA subway and bus fares and OMNY’s weekly fare-cap information.

What About Cash or MetroCard?

The printable B7 timetable contains older payment wording from its June 2025 effective period. Because the MTA has been completing its move to OMNY during 2026, do not assume an older PDF’s cash or MetroCard instructions still apply. Check the current MTA fare page before planning to board with anything other than an accepted OMNY payment method.

How to Track the B7 Bus in Real Time

The official MTA Bus Time system can show B7 buses approaching particular Brooklyn stops. It supports route searches, destination selection, exact stop codes and available vehicle-location information.

1 Open Bus Time Use the official MTA website.
2 Search B7 Enter the complete route code.
3 Pick direction Midwood or Bed-Stuy.
4 Choose stop Confirm its exact location.
5 Read live data Check distance and alerts.

Open the official B7 Bus Time stop list.

What Do Bus Time Messages Mean?

Miles away: The vehicle is still some distance from the stop. Traffic and passenger activity can change the remaining travel time.

Stops away: The bus is closer, and the system can describe its distance in stops rather than miles.

Approaching: MTA’s rider guidance describes this as a bus that was last recorded within approximately 500 feet of the stop after leaving the previous stop.

At stop: The bus was last measured within approximately 100 feet of the selected stop or at the stop.

At terminal: A vehicle may be waiting to begin its next trip. It should not automatically be treated as a bus already traveling toward your stop.

Scheduled time is different from a live prediction. A timetable tells you when the trip is planned. MTA Bus Time uses available vehicle data. If a bus disappears, the location feed may be delayed or unavailable; check the schedule and official alerts before assuming the trip is canceled.

How to Use a Six-Digit Stop Code

  1. Find the stop code on the physical MTA bus-stop sign.
  2. Open MTA Bus Time.
  3. Enter the stop code.
  4. Confirm that B7 appears for the correct destination.
  5. Review approaching vehicles and any warning messages.
  6. Recheck shortly before leaving for the stop.

Read official MTA Bus Time tracking tips.

Wheelchair and accessible travel

Is the MTA B7 Bus Wheelchair Accessible?

MTA local buses are accessible. They provide features such as low-floor boarding, ramps, wheelchair securement spaces and priority seating. However, a bus stop’s sidewalk, curb condition or temporary relocation can affect accessible boarding.

Low-floor boarding MTA local buses use accessibility features such as front-door ramps and kneeling capability.
Mobility-device space Wheelchair securement spaces are provided. Ask the operator for boarding or securement assistance if needed.
Reduced fares Eligible seniors and riders with qualifying disabilities can access reduced fares under the MTA program.

How to Plan an Accessible B7 Journey

  1. Choose your B7 origin and destination stops.
  2. Confirm the stop location and sidewalk access.
  3. Check for construction, blocked curbs or temporary stop changes.
  4. Review the accessibility of any required subway transfer.
  5. Check elevator status for the destination subway station.
  6. Prepare the appropriate payment method or Reduced-Fare OMNY option.
  7. Ask for boarding assistance or ramp deployment as needed.
Accessible station vs accessible bus A B7 bus may be accessible even when a nearby subway station has no accessible entrance or an elevator is out of service. Verify the entire journey, not just the bus itself.

Route changes and important distinctions

Did the B7 Route Change Under the Brooklyn Bus Network Redesign?

The MTA’s Brooklyn Bus Network Redesign documents included proposals to modify the B7, including an earlier proposal involving an extension toward Ridgewood.

However, the current official MTA Bus Time route listing identifies the B7 as Midwood–Bedford-Stuyvesant via Kings Highway and Saratoga Avenue, with a northern terminal in the Saratoga/Halsey area.

Do not mistake an old proposal for an operating route. A planning document may describe a proposed terminal, different stop spacing or a suggested route extension that was not implemented as shown. Always use the actual B7 stop list and latest service alerts for today’s boarding location.

B7 vs B82 vs B49: Which Bus Do You Need?

Route Primary corridor When it helps
B7 Kings Highway / Saratoga Avenue Midwood, East Flatbush, Brownsville and Bed-Stuy trips.
B82 / B82-SBS Kings Highway and other Brooklyn streets Trips continuing to other parts of Brooklyn, subject to the specific stopping pattern.
B49 Ocean Avenue and Bedford/Rogers Avenue area North–south Brooklyn travel near the B7’s Midwood area.
BM2 Brooklyn–Manhattan express service Certain longer Brooklyn-to-Manhattan trips, with separate stops and express fares.

The BM2 is not a replacement for a local B7 journey. However, riders planning a longer trip from the wider East Flatbush or Flatlands area into Manhattan may want to compare express service. Our BM2 Brooklyn–Manhattan express bus guide explains its separate route, boarding rules and express fare differences.

How to Check Current B7 Detours

  1. Visit the official MTA service alerts page.
  2. Choose bus service or the appropriate Brooklyn route filter.
  3. Search for B7.
  4. Read the affected direction and dates.
  5. Check which stops are skipped or temporarily relocated.
  6. Use the listed alternate stop rather than guessing where the bus will stop.

Micro-Steps for Reading the B7 PDF

  1. Open the Brooklyn bus schedule directory.
  2. Select B7.
  3. Check the effective date shown on the PDF’s first page.
  4. Choose the weekday, Saturday or Sunday section.
  5. Select “to Bedford-Stuyvesant” or “to Midwood.”
  6. Find the nearest listed major timepoint.
  7. Follow the times in one scheduled trip row.
  8. Use MTA Bus Time for stops not shown in the PDF.
  9. Verify current fares separately because old documents can contain outdated fare information.
  10. Check live alerts before traveling.
Why a PDF may show fewer stops The MTA timetable focuses on major timepoints rather than displaying a separate column for every local stop. A missing stop in the timetable does not automatically mean the bus skips it. Check the complete direction-specific stop list.

Common B7 bus problems

What to Do If the B7 Bus Is Late, Missing or Going the Wrong Way

The bus is not appearing on the tracker.

Check whether it is a scheduled trip or a tracked vehicle. Refresh the stop view and read service alerts before assuming cancellation.

The bus sign says Midwood but you need Bed-Stuy.

Do not board. You need the opposite direction. Check the official stop list and the correct side of the street.

An app suggests the B82-SBS instead.

Confirm that the Select Bus Service route actually stops at your boarding and destination locations. Its stop pattern differs from local B7.

The schedule and live tracker disagree.

Review the timetable’s effective date, current vehicle reporting status and any scheduled detours.

You cannot find the stop.

Use the exact cross street and stop code from MTA Bus Time. The physical stop may be on a nearby parallel or turning street.

Your transfer is delayed.

Check the next available subway or bus departure and whether your OMNY transfer window still applies. Plan extra time for important appointments.
