UVX Bus Schedule: Routes, Times & Stops
The UVX bus schedule covers Utah Valley Express, a bus rapid transit service operated by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) between Orem and Provo. UVX connects Utah Valley University (UVU), Brigham Young University (BYU), major shopping areas and FrontRunner rail stations.
Find weekday and Saturday bus times, first and last departures, current fares, all major UVX stations, campus connections, construction changes near Provo Central and live bus arrival tools.
What Is the UVX Bus Schedule?
UVX (Utah Valley Express), Route 830X, is UTA’s rapid-bus service linking Orem Central Station, UVU, University Place, the BYU campus corridor and Provo Central Station. The published April 2026 timetable provides weekday and Saturday service, with no regular Sunday UVX service.
UTA’s schedule lists very frequent weekday peak trips, approximately 10–15-minute service during much of the day and less frequent late-night departures. The regular fare is $2.50, but eligible BYU and UVU passholders may have sponsored travel benefits.
Where Does the UVX Bus Go?
UVX is a bus rapid transit (BRT) service through the Provo–Orem corridor. Unlike an ordinary neighborhood bus, it uses dedicated station infrastructure and rapid-service features along portions of its approximately 10-mile corridor.
Travel north through Provo’s campus corridor, University Parkway and the UVU area toward Orem Central Station.
Travel south from Orem through University Place, BYU and downtown Provo toward Provo Central Station.
Selected UVX service uses the East Bay area south of Provo Central. Construction affects station access and boarding locations.
How UVX differs from a regular local bus
UVX is designed for high-frequency travel between busy station areas, especially university and rail destinations. Features such as station platforms, dedicated running lanes in parts of the corridor and advance fare payment help reduce boarding delays.
Bus rapid transit features vary by city. For a comparison with another U.S. BRT network, our CTtransit bus schedule and CTfastrak guide explains how a different transit agency organizes express-style corridors, routes, fares and connections.
UVX Bus Schedule: First and Last Departures
The departure examples below are taken from UTA’s published April 2026 UVX Route 830X timetable, linked from the official route page when this guide was reviewed. They show terminal departures, not the arrival time at every intermediate station.
| Service day | Direction | First departure | Last listed departure |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday–Friday | Provo Central → Orem Central | 4:17 AM | 12:27 AM next day |
| Monday–Friday | Orem Central → Provo Central | 4:00 AM | 11:57 PM |
| Saturday | Provo Central → Orem Central | 6:15 AM | 12:17 AM next day |
| Saturday | Orem Central → Provo Central | 5:37 AM | 12:07 AM next day |
| Sunday | UVX Route 830X | No regular service | No regular service |
UVX Frequency: How Often Does the Bus Run?
UTA publishes varying intervals rather than one fixed frequency for the entire day. The April 2026 timetable shows selected weekday periods at approximately six-minute intervals, with other periods at roughly 10–15 minutes and late-night service around every 30 minutes.
Bars compare approximate time between buses, not speed or reliability. A longer bar represents a longer wait. Frequencies vary by direction and exact period.
Approximate UVX Travel Time
Selected published terminal-to-terminal trips between Provo Central and Orem Central take approximately 38–45 minutes. Your trip may be shorter if you board at BYU, University Place or UVU. Traffic, construction detours and waiting for a connecting service can increase the total journey.
Useful end-to-end planning reference from selected scheduled trips. Check your exact departure.
Use the stop-to-stop timetable or live tracker. Travel time depends on which campus stations you use.
Add walking and transfer time at Orem Central or Provo Central rather than assuming an immediate FrontRunner connection.
UVX Bus Stops: Orem, UVU, BYU and Provo
The table follows the main corridor in the direction from Orem Central to Provo Central. UTA’s timetable shows corresponding stations in the reverse direction. Some platforms serving opposite directions have separate boarding positions.

UVX Provo Central Station: Detours, Closed Stops and Bus Bays
UTA reports long-term construction on the University Avenue (U.S. 189) overpass near Provo Central Station. The construction project has affected UVX and other Utah County bus routes and is scheduled to continue into 2027, subject to project changes.
UTA identifies closures along south University Avenue between 300 South and East Bay Boulevard. Do not assume an older station location remains available.
Temporary stops are provided around 920 South and 100 West. Check the current detour map before walking there.
UTA’s construction guidance identifies Bay J for UVX toward Orem and Bay K for UVX toward East Bay.
Best Alternative for Some FrontRunner Transfers
UTA advises that FrontRunner passengers traveling toward Orem, north Provo or BYU may find it better to transfer at Orem Central instead of traveling into the University Avenue construction area around Provo Central. Southbound travelers to Springville, Spanish Fork and Payson should check Provo Central connections.
How Much Is the UVX Bus Fare in 2026?
UTA introduced regular fares on UVX on August 18, 2024, after the original zero-fare promotion. UVX now generally follows the applicable UTA local fare rules.
Regular UVX One-Way Fare
$2.50Standard adult local fare. An eligible local fare or transfer generally covers two hours of travel on qualifying UTA services. Premium rail or express trips may require additional payment.
Local single-ride rate.
Local services included under UTA’s pass rules.
For approved qualifying cardholders.
For eligible sponsored BYU/UVU passholders using an active ID.
FAREPAY Caps for Frequent Riders
Eligible local travel is capped at $5 per day and $20 per Sunday–Saturday week under UTA’s published fare-capping rules.
Qualified cardholders have local fare caps of $2 daily and $8 weekly, subject to program rules.
How to Pay for UVX Before Boarding
UVX uses off-board fare collection to avoid slowing down station boarding. Do not expect to hand cash to the operator or tap your FAREPAY card inside the bus.
Use a FAREPAY card, eligible Ed/Eco Pass, Transit app ticket or valid paper pass/transfer.
Go to the correct UVX platform and confirm the bus destination.
Tap an electronic fare card on the platform reader or activate your Transit app ticket as instructed.
Keep your proof of valid payment available for a fare inspector.
If your pass or fare card requires it, tap the station reader when exiting.
Are UVX Rides Free for BYU and UVU Students?
Eligible BYU and UVU students, faculty and staff may use their sponsored transit-pass privileges without paying an additional individual fare. Eligibility and activation depend on the university’s current rules. Not every person carrying an old campus ID automatically qualifies.
UVU explains that eligible current students, faculty, staff and certain dependents can use UTA transit benefits through an activated UVU ID. Students must meet the university’s current enrollment eligibility requirements.
Check Official UVU Transit Pass EligibilityUVX and FrontRunner: Where to Transfer
Orem Central and Provo Central are the main rail-interchange stations for UVX. FrontRunner connects Utah County to communities farther north along the Wasatch Front. The correct interchange depends on your destination, travel time and construction conditions.
Useful for UVU, University Place, north Provo and BYU-bound UVX travel. A practical alternative when south Provo construction could affect a connection.
Useful for downtown Provo, routes serving southern Utah County and connections to Provo-area bus services. Check assigned bays during construction.

UVX Detours, Weather and Holiday Service
Temporary stops, bus bay changes and adjusted running times can affect Provo Central and the East Bay area.
UTA may adjust routes or schedules during hazardous weather. Check the Snow Routing notices when applicable.
Special holidays may follow a different operating pattern. Do not assume ordinary weekday UVX service applies.
UVX Wheelchair Access, Bikes and Rider Assistance
UTA identifies accessible bus service on Route 830X. However, accessible vehicle design and accessible station approaches are separate considerations, particularly where construction changes the usual path to the platform.
Wheelchair-accessible vehicles are available on UTA fixed routes. Check boarding and securement needs with UTA.
Check sidewalks, ramps, platform access and temporary construction barriers before traveling.
