Route 50 Bus Schedule: Times, Stops & Map
Looking for the 50 bus schedule? First identify your city and bus operator. Route 50 is used by several transit agencies, including King County Metro in Seattle, the Chicago Transit Authority and CapMetro in Round Rock, Texas.
This guide covers official weekday and weekend bus times, major stops, route maps, first and last departures, ticket prices, live tracking, timetable PDFs, temporary stop changes and practical tips for avoiding the wrong bus.
Which Route 50 Bus Schedule Do You Need?
There is no single nationwide Route 50 timetable. If you are traveling between Alki, West Seattle, SODO, Columbia City and Othello, use King County Metro Route 50. For the Damen corridor in Chicago, use CTA Route 50 Damen. For ACC Round Rock, the Round Rock Transit Center and Dell Way in Texas, use CapMetro Route 50.
Route 50 Bus Schedule Guide
Find the Correct Route 50: Seattle, Chicago or Round Rock
These are three different services with different routes, stop locations, timetables and fare systems. Match your journey with the correct operator before using the schedules below.
King County Metro
Route 50 connects Alki and West Seattle with SODO, the VA Medical Center, Beacon Hill, Columbia City, Seward Park and Othello Station.
Local rider tip: Route 50 is especially useful for cross-city connections without needing to travel through downtown Seattle first. Check the correct SODO or Link light-rail transfer stop before planning the journey.
Official King County Route 50CTA Damen
CTA Route 50 Damen runs between the 35th/Archer Orange Line station and the Ashland/Clark area, passing several Chicago neighborhoods and connecting with multiple ‘L’ lines.
Local rider tip: Chicago Route 50 has connections with the Orange, Pink, Blue and Brown Line stations. Verify the temporary northbound stop closure at Ashland/Catalpa before boarding.
Official CTA Route 50CapMetro Round Rock Tech Ridge
CapMetro Route 50 serves the Round Rock area, including ACC Round Rock, Sunrise, Old Settlers, the Round Rock Transit Center and Dell Way/Greenlawn.
Local rider tip: After Dell Way/Greenlawn, southbound service continues as Route 152 toward Tech Ridge. Riders may remain seated when continuing across this route-number change, subject to current operating instructions.
Official CapMetro SchedulesKing County Metro Route 50: Alki to Othello Station
King County Metro Route 50 serves a cross-city corridor between West Seattle and southeast Seattle. It provides connections at Alaska Junction, the SODO area, Columbia City and Othello Station, making it useful for trips that would otherwise require a less direct route through downtown.
The current official schedule is effective August 29, 2026 through March 26, 2027. The operator provides separate Monday–Friday, Saturday and Sunday tables.
Alki Avenue SW near 61st Avenue SW.
Different boarding bays apply by direction.
SODO Busway near South Lander Street.
38th Avenue S and S Myrtle Street timepoint.
Major Areas Served by Seattle Route 50
The official route covers Alki, Admiral District, Alaska Junction, SODO, the VA Medical Center, Beacon Hill, Columbia City, Seward Park and Othello Station.
If you are connecting from a bus to Link light rail, consider the walking distance, station access and transfer timing. A scheduled arrival at SODO or Othello should not be treated as a guarantee that the next train connection will be made.
Our King County Metro bus schedules, ORCA fares and stop-specific arrival guide explains how to check the wider Seattle-area bus network, service alerts and transit-center connections.
King County Metro Route 50 Weekday Bus Times
The following examples are taken from King County Metro’s official Route 50 timetable effective August 29, 2026. They show selected scheduled trips toward SODO, West Seattle and Alki.

The first example takes approximately 56 minutes between the displayed starting and ending timepoints. The following two examples take around 58 and 60 minutes. Actual running time varies by trip, traffic and boarding location.
Seattle Route 50: Direction and Bay Differences
For service toward Alki, Metro lists Alaska Junction Bay 4, Stop #32011. The opposite-direction timetable identifies Alaska Junction Bay 2, Stop #31811. Using the wrong bay can put you on a bus traveling away from your destination.
View All Metro Route 50 Times and DirectionsDoes Route 50 Run on Weekends?
Weekend operation depends on which Route 50 you mean. King County Metro and CTA publish Saturday and Sunday schedules. Round Rock Route 50 is described by the city as a weekday service.
Separate Monday–Friday, Saturday and Sunday timetables are available for the 2026–2027 schedule period.
Use the relevant day tab to check your first, last and intermediate departures.
CTA runs weekday, Saturday and Sunday service. The first and last terminal times differ by day and direction.
Round Rock describes Route 50 as operating weekdays, approximately 6:15 AM to 8 PM.
Do not assume this route is available on Saturday or Sunday.
CTA Route 50 Damen: First Bus, Last Bus and Stops
CTA Route 50 Damen provides north-south bus service between the 35th/Archer Orange Line station and the Ashland/Clark terminal area.
It connects with several rail corridors and neighborhoods along Damen Avenue. The official CTA PDF timetable is effective August 23, 2026.
CTA Route 50 Terminal Service Hours
| Direction | Weekdays | Saturday | Sunday |
|---|---|---|---|
| Northbound: 35th/Archer → Ashland/Clark | 5:35 AM–11:15 PM | 6:10 AM–11:10 PM | 6:05 AM–11:05 PM |
| Southbound: Ashland/Clark → 35th/Archer | 4:30 AM–10:00 PM | 5:00 AM–10:00 PM | 5:00 AM–10:00 PM |
These are published spans of service at the terminals, not the first and last time at every stop along Damen Avenue.
CTA Route 50: One Scheduled Southbound Trip
In the August 23, 2026 CTA timetable, an early weekday southbound example travels from Ashland/Clark to 35th/Archer as follows:
| Timepoint | Scheduled time |
|---|---|
| Ashland/Clark | 4:30 AM |
| Damen/Irving Park | 4:42 AM |
| Damen/North | 4:57 AM |

| 35th/Archer Orange Line | 5:26 AM |
This example has a scheduled terminal-to-terminal duration of approximately 56 minutes. Daytime and rush-hour trips can have different running times, so use CTA Bus Tracker when you need a precise stop arrival.

CTA Route 50: Temporary Ashland/Catalpa Stop Closure
CTA lists a temporary stop change affecting northbound Route 50 Damen from June 18 through December 29, 2026.
If you normally board near Ashland and Catalpa, check CTA’s stop list and active alert for an alternative boarding location. Do not assume that the bus has stopped operating because one stop is temporarily unavailable.

Why an Old CapMetro Route 50 PDF May Be Wrong
CapMetro publishes schedules by service-change period. A Route 50 PDF effective June 7 through August 15, 2026 shows detailed timepoints, but it should not automatically be used as the active October timetable.
For an exact departure today, open CapMetro’s current Schedules & Maps directory, search for Route 50 and choose your direction and boarding stop. The operator’s current schedule takes priority over an older PDF saved on your phone.

Route 50 Maps, Major Stops and Connections
The diagram below shows selected destinations for three Route 50 services. It is a simplified route sequence rather than a street-accurate map or complete list of stops.
King County Metro Route 50: Main Alki-Bound Timepoints
Alaska Junction: Route 50 West Seattle Transfer Area
Alaska Junction is one of the important West Seattle areas served by Route 50. Use this map for general orientation, then confirm the exact Metro stop and boarding bay from the official Route 50 page.
- Locate the Alaska Junction transit area.
- Check whether your bus heads to Alki or Othello.
- Use the correct Bay 2 or Bay 4 information.
- Verify the bus stop number.
- Check real-time departures before walking.
- Review transfers if continuing on another Metro route.
For help comparing alternative buses, walking directions, transfer distances and whether an arrival is scheduled or live, see our Google Maps bus routes, transit directions and live-departure guide.
Route 50 Bus Fare: Seattle, Chicago and Round Rock
Each transit agency sets its own fare. A ticket or pass purchased for one Route 50 service is not automatically valid with the other operators.
King County Metro lists a $3 adult fare. Eligible seniors, riders with disabilities and qualifying ORCA LIFT customers may pay $1. Youth ages 18 and under ride free on eligible services.
The regular adult ORCA regional day pass is listed at $6 for fares up to $3 per ride.
Metro official fare chartCTA’s published fare page lists a $2.25 regular Ventra/contactless bus fare and $2.50 when paying cash directly at the bus farebox.
Cash fare does not include transfers. The official page lists eligible Ventra transfers within two hours.
CTA official faresCapMetro’s fare materials list a $1.25 local single ride and a $2.50 local day pass. Reduced-fare and income-qualified fare programs are subject to eligibility.
Check the latest CapMetro fare information before making a transfer to rail or an express service.
CapMetro official websiteHow to Pay for Route 50 and Connect to Other Transit
King County Metro
Use an ORCA card, supported contactless bank card, mobile wallet, Transit GO ticket or another approved payment method.
ORCA can make eligible regional transfers simpler. Check whether the fare product covers your connecting bus or rail trip.
CTA Chicago
Ventra cards and accepted contactless payment methods are useful for bus and ‘L’ connections.
Cash can be paid on CTA buses, but the official fare page states that cash payment does not include transfers.
CapMetro
CapMetro provides approved mobile and prepaid fare products, with cash and pass options subject to current fare rules.
Route 50 connects with Route 152. Confirm whether your fare and route continuation are valid for the journey you are planning.

CTA’s official timetable is effective August 23, 2026. It includes northbound, southbound and weekend schedules plus a route map.
Route 50/152 Timetable
CapMetro publishes Route 50/152 maps and timetable PDFs by service period. An available PDF covers June 7–August 15, 2026, but it should not be mistaken for an active October timetable.
Scheduled Time vs Live Route 50 Arrival
Scheduled time is the departure planned in the official timetable. Live arrival is an updated prediction when vehicle-location data is available. Traffic, construction, detours, weather, missed trips and GPS issues can make the two different.
Use the correct transit agency’s official or endorsed tool.
Check the city and the route name.
Match the direction, stop number and boarding side.
Refresh the prediction and look for active alerts.
Use the official Route 50 page, Metro Trip Planner and supported next-departure tools for stop-specific information.

Open CapMetro trip toolsWhat Can Change Your Route 50 Bus Trip?
A stop can move during construction even if the route operates normally.
Congestion can change predicted arrival and total ride time.
Agencies may revise timetables, stop patterns or connections.
Sunday or special schedules may replace normal weekday service.
In Seattle, consult Metro’s service advisories for weather and construction detours. In Round Rock, use the current CapMetro schedule to confirm the Route 50/152 continuation and any changes after the last published PDF period.
Route 50 Accessibility and Reduced-Fare Information
CTA states that all its buses are accessible. King County Metro and CapMetro also publish accessibility and reduced-fare information, but passengers should verify the actual stop and vehicle conditions for their trip.
Check the operator’s instructions for ramps, mobility devices, priority seating and boarding assistance.
Roadworks, snow and relocated stops may affect sidewalk and curb access.
Senior, disability, student, income-based and youth programs differ by operator and fare medium.
If you need wheelchair-accessible directions in another neighborhood, verify the full journey—including connecting sidewalks, rail stations and transfers—not only the bus vehicle.
Local Route 50 Tips to Avoid Missing the Bus
Seattle: Check Alaska Junction Bay
Route 50 toward Alki uses a different Alaska Junction bay from the route toward Othello. Confirm Bay 4 or Bay 2 as appropriate, along with the current stop ID.
Chicago: Watch the Head Sign
Make sure the #50 is headed toward 35th/Archer or Ashland/Clark as needed. CTA also notes that certain trips can operate only part of a route.
Round Rock: Understand Route 152
CapMetro Route 50 continues as Route 152 on part of the trip. Check the current connection rules when traveling toward Tech Ridge instead of leaving the bus automatically.
