Lane Transit District operates far more than one bus line. The network includes neighborhood routes across Eugene and Springfield, EmX bus rapid transit, university and Lane Community College routes, regional buses to communities across Lane County, Diamond Express, Rhody Express, Cottage Grove service and mobility programs.
This rider guide organizes the current Summer 2026 network into practical choices, explains the temporary reduced fares through August 31, flags the Fall service change beginning September 6, and gives direct access to schedules, live tracking, the official Rider’s Guide, accessibility help and customer service.
LTD is Lane Transit District, the public transit agency serving Eugene, Springfield and many communities across Lane County, Oregon.
The official route directory currently lists EmX plus Routes 01, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18, 24, 28, 33, 36, 40, 41, 51, 52, 55, 66, 67, 79X, 81, 82, 85, 91, 92, 93, 95, 96, 98, 900 and 901.
Do not use one “LTD timetable” for every trip. Each route has separate weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules, and some routes have school-break restrictions, express segments, limited trips or regional service rules.
Current-date warning: LTD has announced Fall service changes beginning Sunday, September 6, 2026. Recheck your route before travel on or after that date.
West Eugene ↔ Springfield
Start with EmX for the rapid-transit corridor through West Eugene, Downtown Eugene, University of Oregon, Downtown Springfield, Gateway and RiverBend.
University of Oregon
EmX and several neighborhood or express routes serve the university area. Route 79X is specifically designed for UO/Kinsrow express service when UO is in session.
Lane Community College
Check Routes 81, 82 and 85 first. Routes 92 and 98 also serve LCC as part of longer regional trips.
Downtown Eugene
Eugene Station is the major transfer hub for many neighborhood and regional routes.
Downtown Springfield
Springfield Station connects EmX with neighborhood services including Routes 11, 17, 18 and 85.
Cottage Grove
Route 98 provides regional service from Eugene toward Cottage Grove. Local Cottage Grove trips can use the LTD Connector.
Rural Lane County
Routes 91, 92, 93, 95, 96 and 98 serve communities beyond the central Eugene–Springfield network.
Bus Is Late
Open the Transit app or LTD real-time route map, then check current service alerts before assuming the trip was canceled.
The route number alone is not enough. Match the number with the route name and destination before opening a schedule.

What Time Do LTD Buses Start and Stop Running?
LTD publishes standard operating windows for most buses, but individual routes can start later, end earlier or operate only on selected days.
Weekdays
Most buses operate approximately 6:00 a.m.–12:30 a.m.
Saturday
Most buses operate approximately 7:00 a.m.–11:30 p.m.
Sunday
Most buses operate approximately 8:00 a.m.–9:30 p.m.
These are not Route 24, EmX or Route 98 departure times. Always open the schedule for the exact route, service day and direction.
LTD is temporarily reducing fares through August 31, 2026. Do not mistake the summer promotion for a permanent fare reduction.

Children Age 5 and Under
LTD lists children age five and younger as riding free without a pass.
K–12 Students
Lane County K–12 students can receive a free Student Transit Pass through participating schools using Umo or a tap card.
College Programs
Eligible UO students and employees, Lane Community College students and Pacific University students can access free bus passes through their participating institution.
Honored Riders 65+
Riders age 65 and older can enroll for an Honored Rider Pass and ride eligible LTD services free.
Special-route warning: a free student or Honored Rider pass does not automatically cover every premium or special service. Diamond Express, Rhody Express, RideSource and the Cottage Grove Connector can require additional fare.
Emerald Express bus rapid transit
When EmX Is Better Than a Neighborhood Bus
EmX is LTD’s green bus rapid transit service connecting West Eugene, Downtown Eugene, the University of Oregon, Downtown Springfield, Gateway and the RiverBend area.
Dedicated Bus Lanes
EmX uses dedicated transit lanes on portions of the corridor, helping separate buses from ordinary traffic.
Level Boarding
EmX stations are designed close to bus-floor height. Riders who need a bridge ramp can notify the operator.
Multiple Doors
EmX boarding differs from neighborhood buses. Riders can board through designated doors and pay using onboard Umo readers.
Mobility Devices
Two wheelchair bays are located toward the front of EmX vehicles.
Bikes Inside
EmX can carry up to three bicycles inside rather than on the typical front-mounted neighborhood-bus rack.
Current Station Work
LTD is performing maintenance on selected 7th and 11th Avenue EmX stations through September 9, with alternate stops posted nearby when a station closes.
EmX stop-location difference: do not assume the correct platform is on the same curb you would use for a neighborhood route. Confirm the station direction before boarding.

LTD Connector in Cottage Grove
The LTD Connector operates within Cottage Grove city limits and is booked by app or phone rather than by waiting for a fixed-route bus at a scheduled time.
On-demand ≠ scheduled route: Connector pickup wait times depend on nearby vehicle availability and other riders rather than a printed departure every 30 or 60 minutes.

Schedule vs live prediction: a timetable is the planned trip. A live ETA is an estimate based on current vehicle data. Check both when timing matters.
No vehicle showing? the bus may not have begun its tracked trip, GPS reporting may be interrupted, the trip may be detoured or the vehicle assignment may have changed. Check active alerts and the next scheduled trip.

Route 95 — Junction City Festival
LTD posted a Route 95 festival detour effective August 12, 2026.
Routes 51, 52 and 55 — River Road Repaving
Intermittent stop closures are associated with River Road paving work.
Routes 33, 36, 41, 55 and 93
The stop on Olive Street south of 12th Avenue is closed during construction; riders should use a nearby stop or Eugene Station.
EmX Station Maintenance
Selected stations on 7th and 11th Avenues are closing one at a time through September 9, with alternate stops posted within roughly 200 feet.
Saturday Market Detours
Routes 12, 13, 40, 66, 91, 95 and 96 have Downtown Eugene detours on Saturdays during the Market period.
Routes 40 and 52
The 5th Avenue stop near Adams has a long-term construction closure. Use the officially designated nearby alternative.
How to Ride an LTD Bus Without Missing the Right Stop

Stand where the operator can see you.
During darkness or fog, LTD recommends using a light or phone so the operator can identify a waiting passenger.
Have fare ready.
Prepare your Umo QR code, tap card or exact cash before the bus arrives.
Listen for stop announcements.
Major stops and transfer points are announced, and digital displays provide additional location information on equipped vehicles.
Request the stop.
The bus does not automatically stop at every stop. Signal roughly one block before your destination.
Use the rear door when practical.
LTD asks ordinary riders to exit through the rear to leave the front entrance clear for boarding passengers.
Do not cross directly in front of the bus.
Wait for the bus to pull away, then check traffic and cross at a safe location.

Low-Entry Boarding
LTD buses can lower the bus body closer to the curb to make boarding easier.
Mobility Securement
Each bus provides two mobility-device securement areas, and operators are trained to assist riders.
Priority Seating
Front seating is reserved for older adults and riders with disabilities.
Stop Announcement
Onboard audio announcements and digital displays identify major stops and transfer locations.
Ask the Operator
Riders can ask the operator to notify them as a requested stop approaches.
Reasonable Modification
Riders with disabilities can request reasonable modifications to LTD policies when needed for equitable access.
RideSource ADA Paratransit
RideSource is separate from ordinary fixed-route service and requires ADA eligibility. Eligible riders can request trips through RideSource up to 5:00 p.m. the day before travel; same-day ADA paratransit requests are not provided.
Accessibility planning tip: a wheelchair-accessible bus does not guarantee that a temporary construction stop has the same curb, pavement or boarding conditions as the normal stop.

Taking a Bicycle on LTD
Neighborhood Buses
Bicycles use the exterior rack mounted at the front of the bus.
EmX
Bikes are brought onboard through the rear door and secured on interior racks.
EmX Capacity
LTD states that EmX can hold up to three bicycles inside.
When exiting with a bike: tell the operator before stepping in front of a neighborhood bus to retrieve your bicycle from the rack.

Re-open the route page and verify the new Fall timetable before commuting.
Do not preserve an old departure in this article after the Fall change. Replace affected route times, update the visible verification date and change the embedded Rider’s Guide when the new official document becomes available.
LTD Bus Problems and What to Do Next
The bus is not showing up
Confirm the route operates on the current day, check the Transit app or real-time map, then review service alerts.
The app and printed schedule disagree
Check whether the printed guide predates the June 14 Summer change or the upcoming September 6 Fall change.
Your normal stop is closed
Follow the official alert to the replacement stop. Do not wait beside a closed-stop notice merely because the route normally passes there.
Several buses use the same stop
Match both the route number and destination sign before boarding.
You missed your stop
Get off at the next safe stop and walk back or use the return-direction route. Ask the operator when unsure.
Your route disappears during school break
Check whether it is a school-dependent route such as 79X or has school-break trip footnotes.
Your fare seems different
Summer promotional fares end August 31. Verify the date and whether your trip uses a special service.
You left an item on the bus
Contact LTD Customer Service promptly with the route number, direction, boarding location, exit stop, travel time and item description.
