GUTS Shuttle Routes, Destinations and Operating Hours

Georgetown’s GUTS network includes several different services. Some are frequent Metro station shuttles, others are campus-to-campus buses or evening loops. A Rosslyn departure is not interchangeable with a Dupont Circle or Capitol Campus departure.

Rosslyn Shuttle

Monday–Friday • 4:45 AM–12:00 AM

Connects Georgetown’s Hilltop Campus with Rosslyn Metro Station in Arlington, Virginia, serving the Blue, Orange and Silver Metrorail lines.

Rosslyn stop: North Moore Street and 19th Street. Georgetown announced its return to this original stop location effective July 20, 2026.

Travel time: roughly 15–20 minutes between Georgetown and Rosslyn, depending on the listed trip and boarding point.

Rosslyn Timetable

Dupont Circle Shuttle

Monday–Friday • 6:00 AM–12:00 AM

Connects Hilltop Campus with Dupont Circle Metro Station on the Red Line.

Dupont stop: 20th Street and Massachusetts Avenue NW.

Travel time: Georgetown lists approximately 20 minutes between stops in the regular weekday timetable.

Dupont Timetable

Wisconsin Avenue Shuttle

Monday–Friday • 7:00 AM–7:15 PM

Connects the Hilltop Campus with university locations along Wisconsin Avenue.

The current listed loop is Lombardi Circle → 2115 Wisconsin Avenue → 37th and Calvert Street → Lombardi Circle.

Typical ride: about 3–7 minutes between stops, with a roughly 15-minute complete scheduled loop.

Wisconsin Avenue Schedule

Arlington Shuttle

Monday–Friday • Morning and evening periods

Connects Hilltop Campus with a 14-stop loop through North Arlington.

Published operating periods: 7:10–11:15 AM and 4:20–10:20 PM.

Stops include Key Boulevard, Langston Boulevard, Clarendon Boulevard, Pershing Drive and River Place.

Arlington Loop Schedule

Capitol Campus Shuttle

Monday–Friday • 6:30 AM–11:00 PM

Connects Hilltop Campus with Georgetown’s Capitol Campus, Law Center, 55 H Street NW and 111 Massachusetts Avenue NW.

The Fall 2026 timetable began August 24. Georgetown describes about 20 minutes between the Bus Turnaround and the Law Center under normal conditions, with trip times varying.

Capitol Campus Times

Gallery Place Loop

Monday–Friday • 6:00–11:00 PM

An evening loop connecting 55 H Street, Law Center-area stops, Massachusetts Avenue, 7th Street and Judiciary Square Metro.

It follows an 11-stop published loop and links with the Union Station Loop service pattern.

Gallery Place Loop Times

Union Station Loop

Monday–Friday • Daytime express and evening loop

Connects the Law Center, 55 H Street, 111 Massachusetts Avenue and Union Station. The published service distinguishes the daytime express loop from an evening neighborhood loop.

Georgetown notes that these shuttles do not operate during the summer.

Union Station Timetable

Weekend Campus Shuttles

Academic year • Separate weekend timetables

Weekend service includes a combination loop linking Hilltop, Rosslyn and Dupont Circle, plus a 55 H Street Weekend Shuttle.

Do not assume these academic-year services operate with the same pattern during summer or on university holidays.

How the Main GUTS Routes Connect

The Hilltop Campus is the main reference point for several GUTS services. Other routes operate mainly around the Capitol Campus. This diagram is schematic and is designed to help riders identify the correct destination; it is not a street-accurate route map.

HILLTOP CAMPUS Rosslyn Blue / Orange / Silver Dupont Circle Red Line Arlington Loop North Arlington Wisconsin Avenue University offices Capitol Campus Law / 55 H / Mass. Ave Illustrative network only. Actual street routes, stop locations and schedules vary.
Choosing the fastest Metro connection: Use Rosslyn for Blue, Orange and Silver Line trains, or Dupont Circle for the Red Line. If your trip involves additional Metrobus or rail travel, our WMATA Metrobus routes, fares and live-arrival guide helps you plan the onward connection. GUTS itself is a separate university service with its own eligibility rules.

GUTS Bus Times: Selected Official Departures

Different GUTS routes use different stop columns. Below are selected departure examples from Georgetown’s published timetables. They are not a complete list of every trip, and the October 9 temporary service plan can override normal Hilltop boarding locations.

Route Starting stop Departure Next destination Arrival
Rosslyn Lombardi Circle 4:45 AM Rosslyn 4:55 AM
Rosslyn Bus Turnaround 6:05 AM Rosslyn 6:25 AM
Dupont Lombardi Circle 6:00 AM Dupont Circle 6:20 AM
Dupont Bus Turnaround 6:05 AM Dupont Circle 6:25 AM
Wisconsin Lombardi Circle 7:00 AM 2115 Wisconsin Ave 7:07 AM
Arlington Bus Turnaround 7:10 AM Key Blvd / Ode 7:16 AM
Capitol Campus Bus Turnaround 6:30 AM Law Center 6:46 AM
Union Station Law Center 7:45 AM Union Station 7:58 AM
How to interpret these times: Each row describes one scheduled trip between the listed timepoints. A Rosslyn departure from Lombardi is not the same bus or starting stop as a Rosslyn departure from the Bus Turnaround. For the full schedule, check the official route page.

GUTS Bus Holiday Schedule

Georgetown publishes a special holiday timetable. Under that schedule, only the Dupont Circle and Rosslyn services operate. Other GUTS routes do not operate under the listed holiday pattern.

Rosslyn holiday service The published holiday timetable includes Rosslyn-to-campus trips beginning at 5:00 AM, with additional morning, afternoon and evening departures.
Dupont holiday service The published holiday timetable includes Dupont-to-campus departures beginning at 6:20 AM, with later trips throughout the day.
Holiday warning: Do not assume a holiday means the same thing as a normal weekend. Severe weather or a university closure can also suspend services entirely. Confirm whether Georgetown has announced holiday, reduced or suspended operations for your specific date.

Where to Catch the GUTS Bus on Campus

Two important boarding areas are McDonough Bus Turnaround and Lombardi Circle. The correct one depends on the route, which operator is running the bus and whether temporary changes are in effect.

McDonough Bus Turnaround

A normal pickup location for Arlington, Capitol Campus, 55 H weekend, Dupont and Rosslyn GUTS shuttles.

Route schedules may abbreviate this location as BTA.

Check the October 9 closure before heading here.

Lombardi Circle

A normal pickup area for Wisconsin Avenue and selected Rosslyn and Dupont trips, including contracted MedStar shuttle operations.

The Wisconsin Avenue pickup is located along East/West Road near the Leavey Center/Starbucks entrance.

The October 9 temporary arrangement moves all route departures to Lombardi between noon and 6:00 PM.

How to Confirm the Correct Shuttle Stop

1
Choose route Rosslyn, Dupont, Wisconsin, Arlington or Capitol.
2
Check timetable Read the starting-stop column, not just the departure time.
3
Read alerts Confirm temporary relocation or special-event operations.
4
Arrive early Allow 5–10 minutes, more for unfamiliar pickup points.

GUTS Bus Stop Map: Lombardi Circle

Lombardi Circle is especially important for the Wisconsin Avenue shuttle, MedStar-related pickup operations and temporary campus relocations.

  • Check the route name on the shuttle.
  • Confirm whether your trip starts at Lombardi or BTA.
  • Follow temporary event signs.
  • Ask Georgetown Transportation if your accessible boarding path changes.

Google Maps can help with walking directions around Georgetown, but its public-transit routing may not include every university-only shuttle trip.

Our Google Maps transit and walking-directions guide explains how to inspect the final walking route and distinguish a public bus stop from an institutional shuttle location.

Fare and rider eligibility

Is the GUTS Bus Free? Who Can Ride?

STANDARD GUTS SHUTTLE FARE $0

Free for eligible Georgetown University and affiliated MedStar community members.

Eligible Rider Groups

Georgetown identifies faculty, staff, students and other affiliated members of Georgetown University and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital as the primary eligible users.

GUTS is not a general paid public bus that anyone can board by purchasing a normal transit ticket.

Do You Need a Georgetown GOCard?

Georgetown states that students and other university community members using contracted MedStar-operated Rosslyn or Dupont shuttles need to show their physical or mobile GOCard.

Carry your Georgetown or MedStar identification and follow the specific operator’s boarding instructions. Eligibility for guests or visitors should be confirmed with the university before travel.

Free GUTS does not mean free Metro. The shuttle ride itself has no standard fare for eligible riders. If you transfer at Rosslyn or Dupont Circle to Metrorail, or to a separate public transit operator, that connecting journey may require its own fare.

Other transit connections

GUTS, Metro and Arlington Transit Connections

Rosslyn Metrorail Blue, Orange and Silver Line trains connect riders with other Washington-area destinations.
Dupont Circle Metrorail Red Line service provides connections north and south through the region.
Arlington local buses Arlington’s ART buses are a separate public transit network with their own routes, fares and operating hours.

If your destination is in Arlington rather than on a GUTS stop, compare the university shuttle with local ART routes. For example, our Route 45 guide covering the ART Columbia Pike–Rosslyn connection can help identify a separate public-transit option near Rosslyn.

Important distinction: ART, WMATA Metrobus and Metrorail are not operated as GUTS shuttles. Each system has different fares, schedules and boarding rules.

Weather and traffic Snow, ice, flooding, street closures and traffic can cause delays, reduced service or cancellation.

Accessibility and assistance

Accessible GUTS Shuttles, Boarding and Special Assistance

Riders with mobility needs should confirm vehicle accessibility and their specific boarding location with Georgetown Transportation. This is especially important when a regular campus stop is closed or temporarily moved.

Vehicle access Ask the Transportation Office about accessible buses, ramps, securement and boarding assistance for your specific route.
Accessible pickup Confirm how to reach Lombardi Circle, the Bus Turnaround, Rosslyn or the destination stop safely.
Temporary changes A construction detour or campus-event relocation can affect the accessible walking path even when the shuttle is operating.
Plan ahead: If you need a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, service animal accommodation or other boarding support, contact Georgetown Transportation at 202-687-4372 rather than assuming a specific bus or temporary stop will meet every need.
