Greyhound Bus Schedule: Routes, Times & Tickets

Greyhound Routes, Live Times and Ticket Planning

Plan a Greyhound Bus Trip Without Using the Wrong Time, Stop or Ticket

Greyhound does not operate one fixed nationwide timetable. Departure times, prices, transfer points, station addresses and operating carriers are generated after you enter an origin, destination and travel date.

This guide explains how to find the current Greyhound schedule, compare direct and connecting trips, identify the correct boarding location, buy or change a ticket, track the bus and prepare for baggage, accessibility or border requirements.

Quick answer

Where Is the Current Greyhound Bus Schedule?

The current schedule is inside Greyhound’s booking search. Enter the exact departure city, arrival city and travel date to see available departures, arrival times, trip durations, transfer points, station addresses, operating carrier and current fare.

A generic “Greyhound schedule” list cannot stay accurate because routes, station locations, prices and departure times change by date. Holiday service, weather, road closures and partner-carrier operations can also affect the itinerary.

Search Trips Enter the origin, destination, date and passenger count to retrieve available schedules. Open Official Booking Search
Find the Stop Confirm the complete street address, boarding instructions and location type. Find Greyhound Stops
Manage a Ticket Use the booking number and purchase email or phone number to review changes. Manage My Booking
Track the Bus Search by schedule number, departure city, arrival city or booking information. Open Trip Tracker
Do not travel using a screenshot from an old search. Reopen the confirmed itinerary before departure because the stop, bay, operator or departure instructions may have changed.

How to Find Greyhound Departure and Arrival Times

Choose the origin Select the actual city or stop where you will board.
Choose the destination Confirm the city and preferred arrival location.
Select the date Schedules and fares can differ from one day to the next.
Add passengers Include adults, children and accessibility needs accurately.
Compare itineraries Review times, duration, transfers, operator and station.
Open trip details Read every stop, connection and boarding instruction.
Searching a city is not enough Large cities can have several Greyhound, FlixBus, partner or curbside locations. The cheapest trip may leave from a less convenient stop.
Departure time uses local time The itinerary normally displays times for the local location. Long-distance trips can cross time zones, so compare the printed duration with the clock times.
“From” price is not every trip A route page may display the lowest currently available fare. Your departure can cost more based on date, time, demand and remaining availability.
Best practice: search one day before and one day after your preferred date when your plans are flexible. A different departure can reduce the fare or eliminate a transfer.

How the Greyhound Route Network Works

Greyhound and FlixBus sell schedules across more than 1,600 destinations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The booking results may include Greyhound-operated buses, FlixBus-branded service or a connecting partner carrier.

The diagram below explains the main types of corridors riders commonly encounter. It is a planning visualization, not an official geographic route map.

Schedule Field What It Means What to Check Before Booking
Departure time The scheduled time the bus leaves the listed stop. Arrival time at the station, boarding instructions and local time zone.
Arrival time The planned arrival at the final listed location. Whether local transit, hotel check-in or pickup is available at that hour.
Duration Total planned journey time, including scheduled transfers. Time-zone changes, long layovers and overnight segments.
Direct No required change to another bus is shown. A direct trip can still make intermediate passenger or rest stops.
Transfer You must leave one bus and board another. Connection time, station change and baggage responsibility.
Operating carrier The company operating that segment. Different baggage, accessibility or support procedures.
Station address The official boarding or arrival point. Street side, bay, business entrance and curbside sign.
Seat selection An optional paid preferred-seat choice when offered. Not every partner-operated bus supports reservations.

Direct Greyhound Bus or Connecting Trip?

Direct itinerary Usually easier for first-time riders, passengers with several bags, families and travelers with limited mobility. The bus may stop en route, but no transfer is required.
One-transfer itinerary Can provide a lower fare or better departure time. Confirm the transfer station, connection length and whether another carrier operates the next bus.
Multiple-transfer itinerary Requires stronger delay tolerance. Check overnight layovers, station opening hours, baggage handling and backup departures.
Baggage does not automatically move between buses. Greyhound states that passengers must collect stored bags during a transfer and bring them to the next bus.

Connection Risk Checklist

  • Is the entire trip on one ticket?
  • Does the transfer stay at the same station?
  • Is a partner carrier operating the next segment?
  • Is the connection long enough to retrieve baggage?
  • Will the station be open during an overnight wait?
  • Is there another departure if the first bus is late?
Missed protected connection: Greyhound says that when a passenger misses a connecting bus because the first part of the booked connection was delayed, the passenger will be placed on the next available connection without an additional fare.
Boarding-location guide

Greyhound Station, Partner Station or Curbside Stop?

Greyhound station A Greyhound-branded location operated by Greyhound staff or representatives. It may offer ticketing, waiting areas, restrooms, food, Wi-Fi or customer assistance.
Partner station A location operated by another bus company, agent, convenience store or transportation business. Facilities and opening hours vary.
Curbside stop A marked outdoor boarding point with limited or no facilities, ticket counter or staff. Tickets normally need to be purchased before arrival.
Station-name trap: the destination city can contain several stops. Compare the complete address instead of assuming “New York,” “Los Angeles,” “Chicago” or another city name identifies one terminal.
Location Check Why It Matters Practical Action
Full address Two stops can share the same city name. Copy the exact street address into your map application.
Location type Curbside stops may have no indoor waiting area. Prepare for weather and limited facilities.
Ticketing hours A bus can depart when the ticket counter is closed. Bring an electronic or printed ticket.
Boarding instructions The bus may use a bay, curb, side street or business entrance. Read the location description on the ticket.
Local transport Late-night arrivals may occur after transit service ends. Plan the final connection before booking.

Station payment Staffed stations may accept debit card, credit card or cash. Greyhound says separate forms of payment cannot be combined.
Independent agent Some convenience stores, gas stations and independent agents sell tickets, but payment methods and services can differ.
Your phone can be the ticket. Save the confirmation offline or take a screenshot of the barcode in case mobile data is weak at the boarding location.

Fare strategy

How to Find a Lower Greyhound Fare

Greyhound fares are dynamic. There is no universal per-mile rate or permanent price table that accurately predicts every trip.

Book earlier More availability
Lower pressure
Flexible day Compare nearby dates
Variable
Popular time Weekend or holiday
Higher pressure
Last minute Limited seats
Highest pressure

The chart is a practical comparison, not a guaranteed pricing formula. Greyhound advises that buying in advance is usually a better deal.

  • Compare departures earlier and later on the same day.
  • Search the day before and after your preferred date.
  • Compare direct and one-transfer options.
  • Check alternate stops in the same metro area.
  • Add seat and baggage charges before comparing totals.
  • Review current official promotions before checkout.
  • Avoid a cheap arrival that creates an expensive taxi trip.
  • Read cancellation value before choosing the lowest fare.
Lowest fare is not always the best itinerary. A very long connection, remote stop or overnight arrival can cost more in meals, local transportation or accommodation.

Check current Greyhound deals and promotions.

Current cancellation schedule

Greyhound Ticket Changes, Cancellations and Voucher Refunds

Greyhound allows eligible tickets to be changed or canceled through Manage My Booking up to 15 minutes before scheduled departure. The refund is normally issued as a voucher, and the percentage depends on how early the ticket is canceled.

30+ days before 100% Ticket-price refund percentage
7–29 days before 70% Ticket-price refund percentage
2–6 days before 40% Ticket-price refund percentage
Less than 2 days 20% Ticket-price refund percentage
Fee treatment: Greyhound’s current policy says optional extras such as seat reservations and excess baggage receive a 100% refund, while booking and service fees are non-refundable.
Changing travel time Greyhound instructs passengers to use Manage My Booking, cancel or refund the original booking value and apply the remaining value toward a new trip between the same origin and destination cities.
New trip costs more The passenger pays the fare difference. When the new trip costs less, the difference may be returned as a voucher.
Extras do not transfer automatically A reserved seat or extra baggage from the original trip may need to be selected again for the new itinerary.
Drivers cannot change tickets Greyhound states that drivers and customer-service representatives cannot modify the ticket for the passenger before departure.
Do not wait until the boarding line. The 15-minute cutoff is measured against the scheduled departure time, not the moment the bus arrives.

Check the official cancellation policy and ticket exchange instructions.

Greyhound Seat Reservations

Every passenger is assigned a seat, but some trips allow a passenger to pay an additional route-dependent fee to choose a preferred seat.

Choose during booking When seat selection is available, a seat map appears after passenger details are entered.
Seat number on ticket The selected or assigned seat appears on the booking confirmation. Numbers are displayed near the overhead baggage area.
Partner limitation Seat reservations are not available on every partner-operated bus.
Seat cannot simply be moved Greyhound says a selected seat cannot be changed after assignment through the normal process.
Adjacent empty seat Some itineraries offer an option to reserve the seat next to the passenger for additional room.
Mobility priority Passengers with limited mobility receive preferred seating even when the ticket does not show a seat number.
Family booking: choose seats during the initial reservation when sitting together matters. Waiting until boarding reduces control over seat placement.

Review official Greyhound seat-reservation rules.

Greyhound Rules for Children and Family Travel

Age 15 and younger Children must travel on the same bus with a parent, legal guardian or another passenger who is at least 16 years old.
Age 16 and older Greyhound treats passengers age 16 and older as adults for independent travel.
Seat fare Any passenger occupying a seat pays the applicable adult fare, regardless of age.
Child under age 2 One child younger than 2 can travel without an additional fare as a lap child when the child does not occupy a seat.
Car seat Many buses have seat belts that can secure an approved motor-vehicle child seat when used according to its instructions.
International child travel Canada and Mexico trips have additional citizenship, consent and border-document rules.
Do not assume an airline-style child discount. Greyhound’s current policy says a child occupying a separate seat pays the applicable adult fare.

Greyhound Wheelchair, Mobility and Disability Assistance

Greyhound says its buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts and can accommodate two passengers traveling while seated in a wheelchair or mobility scooter. Booking early is important because those spaces are limited.

Request needs during booking Select wheelchair or mobility-scooter travel when entering passenger information and state whether you will remain seated in the device.
Ask at every segment Greyhound advises passengers to request assistance at each station and from each driver on a multi-leg trip.
Priority seating Seats immediately behind the driver are designated for elderly passengers and travelers with disabilities.
Mobility aids Eligible wheelchairs and mobility aids are transported without a baggage fee, subject to published dimensions and lift limits.
Partner-carrier segment A connecting operator may require 48 hours of notice to provide an accessible bus. Contact that carrier directly before starting the trip.
Personal assistance Drivers can help with boarding and baggage but cannot provide personal care, medication administration or continuous assistance.
Disability booking assistance 1-800-752-4841
TTY/TDD 1-800-345-3109

Station accessibility must also be checked. A lift-equipped bus does not guarantee that every curbside boarding location has an accessible waiting area, restroom or sidewalk.

How to Track a Greyhound Bus and Handle Delays

Greyhound’s Track My Bus tool can search by schedule number, departure city or arrival city and show whether the bus is on time, early or delayed with an estimated arrival.

Before leaving home Check whether the bus is on time, but continue to follow the official boarding requirement. A delayed status can change.
Picking someone up Track the arrival location and schedule rather than waiting only from the printed timetable.
Missing tracker data The bus may not have started, GPS reporting may be interrupted or a partner carrier may provide limited data.
Delay or cancellation notice Ticketed passengers may receive text, email or app notifications. Provide a working mobile number during booking.
Missed connection Follow the instructions sent by Greyhound and keep the original booking confirmation available.
Departure delay over 120 minutes Greyhound’s contact page says eligible passengers may rebook an alternate ride without charge or request a voucher through Manage My Booking.
En-route delay rule differs: traffic, collisions, construction, detours and weather delays after departure are treated differently from a major delay at the original departure point.

What to Expect on a Greyhound Bus

Seat layout Passengers receive a window or aisle seat; there are no middle seats.
Power outlets Greyhound says nearly every seat has access to a standard electrical outlet.
Wi-Fi BusWifi provides complimentary internet access, although cellular dead zones and usage limits can apply.
Restroom Greyhound states that each bus has an onboard toilet.
Legroom Buses are designed with reclining seats and more space than a tightly packed seating layout.
Air conditioning Individual adjustable air vents may be available, but bringing a light layer is sensible.
Safety belts Most newer buses have three-point belts. Use the belt when available.
Rest breaks Greyhound says most buses stop approximately every two hours, but the actual itinerary controls.
Download entertainment before departure. Greyhound’s complimentary internet package has data limits, and mobile coverage can disappear on rural highway segments.

Review Greyhound bus features and Wi-Fi information.

Cross-border preparation

Greyhound Travel Between the U.S., Canada and Mexico

International bus travel requires more than a ticket. The passenger is responsible for having valid entry documents and meeting current immigration and customs requirements.

U.S.–Canada trips Greyhound states that passengers leave the bus at the border and collect all belongings, including under-bus baggage, for inspection before reboarding.
U.S.–Mexico trips Passengers also leave the bus and collect baggage during border processing. Greyhound may collect required passenger information before arrival.
Documents Passport, visa, citizenship evidence, return-ticket or consent requirements depend on nationality, age and direction of travel.
Children International child travel can require proof of citizenship and written or notarized parental consent depending on the trip.
Food and restricted goods Agricultural items and other goods must be declared when required. Border restrictions can change.
Connection time Border inspection duration is not fully predictable. Avoid a fragile onward connection after arrival.
Do not rely on an old travel blog or saved checklist. Verify current entry requirements directly with U.S., Canadian or Mexican government border authorities before purchasing the ticket.

Is There a Nationwide Greyhound Schedule PDF?

Greyhound does not currently provide one reliable nationwide timetable PDF containing every route and departure. The active schedule is produced dynamically after the traveler enters the origin, destination and date.

Embedding a static national PDF would create a serious accuracy problem because departures, station addresses, partner carriers and fares can change independently.

Use the booking search Retrieve the exact itinerary for the intended date.
Save the confirmation Download, print or capture the ticket and itinerary after booking.
Recheck before departure Confirm the station and trip status on the day of travel.
No PDF is better than a misleading PDF. This article intentionally does not embed an unofficial or outdated nationwide timetable.

Common Greyhound Schedule and Ticket Problems

No trips appear Try a nearby date, alternate city stop or larger connecting city. The route may not operate daily.
Ticket shows a different operator The booking includes a partner carrier. Review the operating carrier’s instructions for that segment.
Station address changed Use the current ticket and official stop page rather than an old map bookmark.
Barcode will not load Use the confirmation email, saved screenshot, printed ticket or Greyhound app.
You lost the confirmation Search the email used during purchase and use Manage My Booking with the booking information.
You need another bag Check available excess-baggage capacity in Manage My Booking before arriving.
You cannot find the curbside stop Read the detailed location instructions and look for the sign, bay, business entrance or street side.

Frequently Asked Questions About Greyhound Bus Schedules

How do I find today’s Greyhound bus schedule?

Enter your departure city, destination and travel date in Greyhound’s official booking search. The results show the currently available departures, arrival times, transfer details, station addresses, operators and fares.

Does Greyhound have one nationwide timetable?

No reliable current nationwide timetable is published as one static document. Greyhound schedules are generated by route and travel date through the booking system.

How early should I arrive for a Greyhound bus?

Greyhound states that boarding can begin up to 15 minutes before departure. Arriving substantially earlier is sensible when the station is unfamiliar, the stop is curbside, baggage must be stored or assistance is required.

Can I use my Greyhound ticket on my phone?

Yes. Greyhound allows passengers to display an electronic ticket on a phone. Saving it offline or taking a screenshot protects against weak mobile service.

Can I change my Greyhound departure time?

Eligible tickets can be changed through Manage My Booking up to 15 minutes before scheduled departure. The process uses the remaining booking value toward another trip between the same origin and destination cities.

Can I get a refund for a Greyhound ticket?

Eligible cancellations receive a full or partial voucher based on how far in advance the ticket is canceled. The current policy ranges from 20% less than two days before departure to 100% at least 30 days before departure.

How many bags can I take on Greyhound?

For standard North American travel outside the Mexico-specific allowance, Greyhound includes one small carry-on and one stored bag. Extra or bulky baggage requires space availability and an additional fee.

Does Greyhound transfer my bag to the next bus?

No. Passengers are responsible for collecting stored baggage during transfers and bringing it to the next bus.

Can children travel alone on Greyhound?

Travelers age 16 and older qualify as adults for travel. Children age 15 and younger must be accompanied on the same bus by a parent, legal guardian or another passenger at least 16 years old.

Are Greyhound buses wheelchair accessible?

Greyhound states that its buses have wheelchair lifts and space for two passengers seated in wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Riders should provide their needs during booking and contact partner carriers when another company operates a segment.

Does Greyhound have Wi-Fi and power outlets?

Greyhound lists Wi-Fi, power outlets, reclining seats, extra legroom and onboard restrooms among its bus features. Wi-Fi coverage and data availability can be limited.

How can I track a Greyhound bus?

Use Greyhound’s Track My Bus tool with the schedule number, departure city, arrival city or booking details. It may display whether the bus is on time, early or delayed.
