Fresno Area Express Bus Routes and Corridors
The City of Fresno lists the following FAX routes. Check the official route directory for a map, PDF timetable and accessible schedule format. Do not confuse a FAX route with a bus using the same number in another city.
Route 01 — FAX Q
The Q is Fresno’s Bus Rapid Transit service along the Blackstone, Downtown, Ventura and Kings Canyon corridors.
Major travel areas: Woodward area, Manchester Transit Center, Downtown Fresno and the Kings Canyon/Clovis Avenue corridor.
Frequency: The official January 2026 timetable identifies approximately 10-minute service during selected weekday peak periods, with different intervals outside those periods.
Route 03 — Herndon
Serves the Herndon corridor and destinations in northwest/northeast Fresno, including connections toward the Clovis area.
Frequency: FAX reports that Route 3’s frequency improved from 45 minutes to approximately 30 minutes.
Route 03 Herndon is a Fresno service; it is not the same bus as Chicago’s Route 3 King Drive or Nashville’s WeGo Route 3.
Route 09 — Shaw
Operates along the Shaw corridor, serving destinations such as Fashion Fair, Fig Garden-area connections and nearby residential and education destinations.
Important 2026 note: The January schedule guide identified a planned change to Route 9’s Clovis coverage in June 2026. Check the newest map instead of assuming the older Clovis route pattern remains.
Route 20 — Hughes / McKinley
Serves the Hughes and McKinley corridors and connects western Fresno neighborhoods with other FAX routes.
Frequency: FAX reports improved service of approximately every 30 minutes on this route. Confirm the exact operating hours in its PDF.
Route 22 — West Avenue / Tulare
Provides service on West Avenue and Tulare, with useful connections around Downtown Fresno.
2026 update: The City of Fresno reports that Route 22 was realigned in January 2026 to serve Fancher Creek Shopping Center.
Route 26 — Palm / Butler
Serves the Palm and Butler corridors. The FAX destination index also identifies Route 26 among routes serving the Fresno airport area.
Other useful connections: Fig Garden, River Park, downtown areas and selected education or medical destinations along the route.
Route 28 — DSS / Manchester / West Fresno
Serves West Fresno, Manchester and the County Department of Social Services area.
Useful destination: DSS, with connections to other FAX routes around Manchester and downtown.
Route 29 — Church
FAX introduced Route 29 Church Avenue Crosstown in August 2025, expanding connections across southern Fresno neighborhoods.
Practical tip: Check the January 2026 schedule to find which existing routes it intersects for transfers.
Route 32 — Fresno Street
Runs through the Fresno Street corridor, linking residential and commercial areas to destinations including River Park, Fashion Fair-area connections and medical facilities.
Useful for: Community Regional Medical Center, Kaiser-area stops and other destinations listed in the official FAX destination index.
Route 34 — First Street
Connects neighborhoods and businesses along First Street, including services toward the North Pointe Business Park.
Frequency: FAX reports an improvement to approximately 15-minute service, compared with the previous 20-minute pattern.
Route 38 — Cedar
Serves Cedar Avenue and connections to destinations including River Park Shopping Center and central Fresno.
2026 night service: Route 38 night service was extended north to River Park in January 2026.
Route 58E — Children’s Hospital
Provides service toward Valley Children’s Hospital and related northeast Fresno medical destinations.
FAX reports an additional stop near River Vista Behavioral Health Center. Check the most recent route map for the location and trip pattern.

FAX Bus Schedule: Weekday, Saturday, Sunday and Night Service
According to the City’s published service guide, the general FAX operating span is 5:30 AM–10:00 PM Monday–Friday and 6:30 AM–7:00 PM on weekends. Some selected routes have later service, approximately until midnight Monday–Saturday.
System-wide general span; individual route and stop times vary.
General weekend operating span; choose the specific day.
Late-night operation applies only to selected routes and service days.
Published Frequency Examples
Frequency means how often buses are scheduled to come. These examples are based on the City’s route information; actual departure spacing can vary by time of day and day of service.
Bars are an illustrative comparison of published headways, not reliability percentages or live measurements. A shorter headway means more frequent service. These are not guarantees that every stop is served at that interval throughout the operating day.
| What riders ask | Where to find the correct answer |
|---|---|
| First bus | First departure shown for the correct direction and service day in the official route PDF |
| Last bus | Final trip that serves your actual stop, not merely the terminal |
| Weekend service | Saturday/Sunday timetable or a service-day notice |
| Every 15/30 minutes? | Compare consecutive departure entries at your selected timepoint |
| How long is my trip? | Subtract boarding time from destination time, then add transfer and walking time |
| Bus running now? | Compare the live tracker, planned timetable and service alerts |
How to Read FAX Bus Timepoints Without Missing Your Bus
A FAX timetable may list major intersections or stations rather than every single stop. Use the map to identify where your stop falls between the printed timepoints.
The bus may stop across the street when traveling in the opposite direction.
Use the nearest major scheduled stop, then check stop-level tools when available.
Aim to be at the correct stop around 5–10 minutes before the planned bus time.
For a broader explanation of timetable columns, directions, transfers and the difference between planned and predicted times, see our step-by-step public transit schedule guide.
FAX Q Route 1: Fresno’s Faster Bus Corridor
The FAX Q is Fresno’s Bus Rapid Transit service. It uses designated stations, off-board ticket vending machines and traffic-signal priority along its main corridor.
Also branded as FAX Q.
Published route length in the FAX Q overview.
During specified peak periods, not necessarily all day.
Same regular fare as other FAX fixed routes.
How to Use a FAX Q Station
FAX’s official January 2026 Route 1 timetable lists timepoints such as Woodward, Sierra, Shaw, Manchester Transit Center, downtown stations, First Street, Maple, Peach and Clovis. The complete stop pattern must be checked on its official map.
FAX Bus Fares: Cash, Monthly Passes, Free Rides and Transfers

What Happens If You Pay More Than the Cash Fare?

How to Transfer Without Paying Again

How to Track FAX Buses and Check Arrival Predictions
A scheduled departure is the time planned in the official timetable. A real-time prediction is an updated estimate using current transit information where available. FAX directs riders to Google and Moovit for real-time transit information and provides an official Track Your Bus access page.
Use the official FAX tracking entry page or supported app.
Choose Q, 3, 9, 34, 38 or your required route.
Match the bus destination and correct side of the road.
Use the actual stop, station or nearby intersection.
Review predictions, detours and alerts before walking.
FAX Bus Delays, Detours and Downtown Fresno Stop Relocations
FAX routes can be affected by construction, road closures, special events, crashes and timetable revisions. The City of Fresno publishes rider alerts and temporary stop information.
Construction can move boarding points away from their permanent shelter locations.
The route number may stay the same even after part of its corridor changes.
A tracking outage does not automatically mean the bus is canceled.

Ask about ramp or lift needs, wheelchair securement and priority seating.

City of Fresno system with regular fixed-route fares, Q Bus Rapid Transit, FAX routes and Handy Ride paratransit.
Published adult fare: $1.00.
Separate City of Clovis transit network with independently published routes, maps and schedule information.
Published Stageline fare: Free.
The January 2026 FAX schedule guide also describes a redesigned Clovis Transit network that began in November 2025. If a trip crosses the Fresno–Clovis boundary, use both agencies’ current route maps and confirm the transfer point.
Does FAX Run on Holidays?
FAX’s published riding guidance states that no fixed-route service is provided on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day. Several other holidays use a Sunday schedule. Always verify the current holiday notice before traveling.
Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Veterans Day are among the holidays listed for Sunday-schedule service.
Holiday schedules can change in a future service bulletin. Check the active FAX announcement rather than assuming an ordinary weekday timetable applies.
