Quick answer

Where Can I Find the Fall River Bus Schedule?

The most reliable source is the official SRTA Fall River schedules directory. Open its entry titled “Fall River Schedules – Effective August 30, 2026”, choose your route number and download or view the timetable for your direction.

Local City Routes 101–114 Different routes serve neighborhoods, colleges, hospitals and shopping areas.
Fall River–New Bedford 9 Intercity service with regular and express trip patterns.
Regional Connections 24L RIPTA operates separate limited-stop trips linking Fall River with Rhode Island.
Do not confuse all bus services at the terminal. SRTA Route 9, RIPTA 24L, GATRA Gateway Link and MBTA Commuter Rail are different services. They have separate timetables, fares and boarding locations. A Fall River trip planner must identify the operator first.

Visual network overview

How Fall River’s Bus Network Connects

The Louis D. Pettine Transportation Center is the main transfer hub. Think of the network as several neighborhood corridors feeding into a central terminal, plus separate connections to other cities.

Schematic network overview only. It does not show exact street alignment, bus stop locations or route direction. Some routes have branches, detours and time-limited stops.

Operating hours and frequency

Fall River Bus Times: Weekday, Weekend and Holiday Service

SRTA schedules depend on the route. A citywide timetable does not mean every bus begins at the same time. Many local routes operate from around 6 AM into the evening; several corridors have approximately 30-minute service, while others are hourly or have trip-specific exceptions.

Weekday service ~6 AM Many local routes begin around early morning and continue into the evening. Some routes start earlier or run later.
Typical local interval 30–60 min A common scheduled frequency range, depending on the route and time of day.
Weekend service Varies Individual routes use weekend timetables, often with fewer departures or shorter operating hours.

Selected Schedule Patterns Worth Knowing

Route Typical pattern Practical interpretation
101 South Main Approximately 30-minute local service on published regular trips Useful for short city journeys, but confirm evening and weekend departures.
102 North Main Half-hourly published inbound timepoint pattern in SRTA’s March 2026 service notice Four Winds, North Main/Shaw’s and terminal have different timepoint minutes.
108 Bristol CC Frequent weekday service with reduced weekend frequency in published route schedules Check class-day and school-trip notes separately.
9 Intercity Regular via-UMass and express journey patterns Express buses skip major intermediate stops; not all trips serve the college.
114 Swansea Less frequent than the main half-hourly local corridors Plan the return departure before going shopping.
Effective-date distinction SRTA’s newest Fall River schedule period began August 30, 2026. Older individual PDFs and service-change notices are useful for explaining patterns, but exact current first and last trips should be confirmed from the August 30 timetable. This guide does not treat an older PDF as a guaranteed present-day schedule.

Route 102: A Useful Official Timepoint Example

SRTA’s March 22, 2026 service notice explained a specific inbound Route 102 North Main pattern. It is a helpful example of why a bus’s terminal time differs from its neighborhood departure:

1 Four Winds
6:00 AM
2 N. Main / Shaw’s
6:04 AM
3 North Main corridor
4 Downtown approach
5 SRTA Terminal
6:29 AM

Illustrates a published March 2026 weekday timepoint pattern, not a fresh November live prediction. Check the August 30 schedule for your actual trip.

SRTA’s notice also identifies an early inbound exception starting at Amazon at 5:55 AM. That exception is important because you should not assume every Route 102 trip starts at Four Winds.

Read the official Route 102 service-change explanation.

Sunday and Holiday Travel

Fall River has expanded weekend service, but the exact Sunday and holiday operation still depends on the route and the active timetable. Do not assume every Saturday trip also runs on Sunday, or that a holiday uses normal weekday times. Verify the individual route’s service-day legend and the latest SRTA rider notices.

Main transit hub

Fall River Bus Terminal: Address, Boarding and Parking

The main SRTA terminal is the Louis D. Pettine Transportation Center, located at:

Terminal address 118 Fourth St. Fall River, MA 02721

Open terminal location in Google Maps

Published customer-service hours Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM–9:00 PM

Saturday: 6:45 AM–6:00 PM

Check current hours before visiting on Sunday or a holiday.

How to Board at the Terminal

  1. Enter the transit center from the appropriate Fourth Street access point.
  2. Look for signs identifying SRTA, RIPTA, Gateway Link or intercity carriers.
  3. Confirm the full route number and destination.
  4. Check the designated boarding bay or any temporary curbside boarding notice.
  5. Prepare the correct fare media.
  6. Stand in the designated waiting area until boarding is permitted.
  7. Ask the driver to confirm your destination if you are uncertain.
Construction and boarding-location warning In May 2026, SRTA temporarily moved several carriers’ terminal boarding to Fourth Street because of nearby construction. That was a dated disruption, not a permanent instruction. Check the current terminal notice instead of assuming every bus always boards inside the building.

Parking at the Fall River Terminal

SRTA’s official parking page describes a lower-level parking garage with its entrance on Fifth Street and exit on Fourth Street. It lists a rate of $2 per hour or $10 per day, but also marks the garage as temporarily closed. Do not plan to park there without confirming that the garage has reopened.

Check Fall River terminal parking status and access rules.

Fall River to New Bedford

SRTA Route 9 Bus: Fall River–New Bedford Schedule

Route 9 is the main SRTA intercity connection between Fall River and New Bedford. It has regular trips and express trips, and the distinction can save substantial travel time.

Express service ~25 min Selected express trips use the I-195 corridor and travel between the Fall River and New Bedford terminals without making the normal intermediate stops.
Regular intercity service ~50–60 min Regular trips may serve Dartmouth Mall, UMass Dartmouth and other intermediate destinations before reaching the terminal.

How the Two Route 9 Patterns Differ

1 Fall River Terminal
2 Intercity corridor
3 Dartmouth area
4 UMass Dartmouth / Mall
5 New Bedford Terminal

Regular-service schematic only. Express trips bypass some intermediate locations and do not necessarily use the same stops. The time estimates describe published route patterns, not live travel-time guarantees.

Which Route 9 Trip Should You Take?

Traveling only between the two city terminals? An express trip can be the faster choice. Going to UMass Dartmouth or Dartmouth Mall? Choose a regular trip that explicitly serves your stop. An express bus that skips the campus will not be useful simply because it reaches New Bedford sooner.

How to Find Today’s Route 9 Departure

  1. Open the current Fall River schedule page.
  2. Select Route 9 Intercity.
  3. Choose Fall River to New Bedford or New Bedford to Fall River.
  4. Look for express-service symbols and destination columns.
  5. Confirm whether UMass Dartmouth or Dartmouth Mall is served.
  6. Check the actual departure and destination timepoints.
  7. Review SRTA’s latest trip cancellations before boarding.

Open the current official SRTA Route 9 timetable.

Student and commuter tip If you are traveling to Bristol Community College in Fall River, Route 9 alone does not take you to every part of the campus. You may need a separate local Route 108 trip or a Gateway Link connection. Allow for both waiting and walking time.
College and healthcare travel

Fall River Bus to Bristol Community College and Hospitals

Route 108 is the named Bristol Community College route in SRTA’s Fall River directory. Its stop pattern is especially important for students, hospital visitors and riders making timed appointments.

Bristol Community College Route 108 is a primary local service to check for the Fall River campus.
Charlton Memorial Hospital Route 108’s published route information includes the hospital area. Check the correct stop and walking entrance.
Robeson Street medical area Route 104 is useful to investigate for Catholic Memorial Home and the Robeson Street corridor.

Arriving for a Class or Medical Appointment

Choose a scheduled bus that arrives early enough to walk from the bus stop to the correct building entrance. For unfamiliar hospital and college destinations, a 10–15 minute walking or transfer allowance is a sensible planning buffer, not a guaranteed operating time.

Check school-trip symbols carefully. Some buses make school-related diversions or operate only on school days, while normal routes continue under their published service pattern.

Ticket prices and passes

Fall River SRTA Bus Fare: Cash, CharlieCard and Passes

SRTA publishes a regular local cash fare of $1.50 and a regular CharlieCard fare of $1.25. Discounted fares and passes are available to eligible passengers.

Regular cash $1.50 Per local boarding
CharlieCard $1.25 Regular card fare
Reduced cash $0.75 Eligible reduced-fare riders

SRTA Pass Prices

All-day pass $3.00 Multiple local rides during one day
Weekly pass $10.00 Regular travel over a week
10-ride pass $14.00 Occasional repeated trips
31-day pass $30.00 Frequent monthly travel
31-day senior/disabled/school pass $20.00 Eligible riders
Children under six Free Within SRTA’s child-accompaniment rules
Children ages 6–11 $0.75 Published child fare

SRTA allows up to two children aged five or younger to ride free with each paying adult. Discount eligibility and fare-product restrictions should be reviewed before purchase.

Transfers: Cash vs CharlieCard

Cash transfer SRTA publishes one free transfer valid within 90 minutes, subject to its inbound-to-outbound transfer conditions.
CharlieCard transfer SRTA lists one two-hour transfer between buses in any direction under the published card rules.
Money-saving example Two separate $1.50 cash boardings would total $3.00 without an eligible transfer. If you expect to use multiple local buses, compare the $3 day pass and the applicable transfer rule. Different operators such as RIPTA may require separate fares.

Check the full official SRTA fares and pass price list.

How to Buy or Load Fare Media

  1. Open SRTA’s fares page.
  2. Compare cash, CharlieCard, day and monthly products.
  3. Check eligibility if purchasing a reduced-fare product.
  4. Use an official terminal, ticket vending machine or ticket agent where available.
  5. Keep your card or ticket ready before boarding.
  6. Ask SRTA customer service before buying a pass if your trip uses another agency.

For cash boarding, have the exact amount ready. SRTA states that the driver does not make change.

Scheduled time vs live arrival A scheduled departure is the planned timetable. A live prediction uses available vehicle data and can change during traffic, detours, weather or service cancellations. If no vehicle is displayed, check the official service notices rather than assuming the bus is canceled.

SRTA’s Bustracker also offers favorite-route and notification features, which can be useful for commuters using the same stop each weekday.

Regional bus connections

Fall River to Providence, Newport, Taunton and Brockton

Fall River is a transfer point for several regional services. These do not all use SRTA’s $1.50 local fare or its local timetable.

RIPTA Route 24L: Providence, Fall River and Newport

RIPTA Route 24L serves the Pettine Transportation Center on a limited-stop connection between Providence and Newport. The timetable effective January 17, 2026 lists three morning and three afternoon trips in each direction on weekdays, with no Saturday, Sunday or holiday service.

Providence direction $4.00 RIPTA 24L single-trip fare
Service pattern Weekdays Limited-stop commuter service
Fall River stop Pettine Confirm the correct departure direction

Published weekday Route 24L examples include a 6:36 AM departure from Fall River toward Providence arriving at Kennedy Plaza at 7:04 AM. These are scheduled timepoints from the January 2026 RIPTA timetable, not a live prediction.

If you are traveling between Fall River and Rhode Island, our RIPTA bus schedule guide for Providence, Newport and Route 24L explains the wider network, fare rules, transfers and official route checking process.

Open the official RIPTA Route 24L page and check its PDF, service day and current alerts. Use the $4 Route 24L fare information rather than assuming the normal RIPTA local fare applies.

Gateway Link: Fall River, Taunton and Brockton

GATRA’s Gateway Link connects the Fall River terminal with Bristol Community College, Taunton, Stonehill/Belmont, Brockton VA Medical Center and BAT Centre.

1 Fall River Terminal
2 Bristol CC
3 Taunton Terminal
4 Stonehill / Belmont
5 BAT Centre, Brockton

GATRA’s published schedule includes a trip leaving Fall River at 7:00 AM, reaching Bristol CC at 7:16 AM, Taunton at 8:00 AM and BAT Centre at 9:00 AM. This is a posted schedule example; check current operation and the complete itinerary before relying on it.

The program began in August 2025 and was described as free when introduced. Because that initial pricing statement may have changed, confirm the present fare with GATRA before traveling.

View the Gateway Link official timetable and multilingual PDFs.

For riders transferring at BAT Centre or continuing onto Brockton-area local buses, the BAT bus schedule, route and live-tracking guide explains the connecting transit network and boarding process.

Transfer planning tip The Gateway Link involves several agencies and long-distance stops. Verify the return trip before leaving Fall River, especially if you plan to remain in Taunton or Brockton after normal business hours.

Stops, maps and directions

How to Find the Nearest Fall River Bus Stop

A destination such as Walmart, Bristol Community College, Charlton Memorial Hospital or Southcoast Marketplace may have several nearby stops. The most useful map is the one that matches your route, direction and boarding side.

Start with the official SRTA map
  1. Open SRTA’s routes and schedule page.
  2. Choose the Fall River service area.
  3. Open the route map for your bus.
  4. Locate the closest stop to your actual destination.
  5. Check whether it is served in the required direction.
Check the walking connection
  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. Enter the origin and destination.
  3. Select the public transit option.
  4. Inspect the boarding stop and walking path.
  5. Compare the suggested trip with current SRTA alerts.

Our Google Maps transit directions and stop-finding walkthrough explains how to check walking connections, departure times, route alternatives and the difference between scheduled and live bus information.

Local navigation tip Fall River has hilly streets and some routes cross busy roads. When traveling with a wheelchair, stroller, mobility aid or heavy shopping, do not choose a bus stop based only on distance. Check safe pedestrian access, crossings and the correct curbside boarding location.

Open SRTA’s official system maps.

Accessible transportation

Fall River Wheelchair-Accessible Buses and Demand Response

SRTA states that its fixed-route buses are wheelchair accessible. Passengers should still check whether the selected stop has suitable curb and sidewalk access and whether a detour has changed the usual boarding point.

Fixed-route accessibility All SRTA fixed-route buses are listed as wheelchair accessible. Confirm the boarding position and any assistance needed.
Reduced fare Eligible senior and disabled passengers can apply for the applicable reduced fare or access card.
Demand Response A separate transportation program is available for qualifying riders who cannot use regular fixed-route service.

SRTA Demand Response: Fares and Booking

Published regular DR fare $3.00 One-way trip
Booking phone 508-999-5211 Extension 4007
Reservation window Up to 7 days Book in advance; same-day booking unavailable

SRTA lists reservation booking hours from 8 AM to 4 PM, seven days per week. Trips must be scheduled by 4 PM on the preceding day, with advance reservation requirements and eligibility rules.

For service outside the standard fixed-route corridor, SRTA lists a premium fare supplement under its demand-response fare rules.

How to Arrange Accessible Transportation

  1. Open SRTA Demand Response.
  2. Read the eligibility requirements and informational guide.
  3. Contact SRTA if registration or certification is required.
  4. Have your pickup location, destination and travel date ready.
  5. Call the booking number before the reservation deadline.
  6. Confirm the pickup window and any mobility-equipment requirements.
  7. Check the cancellation and return-trip instructions.
Accessibility planning reminder Demand Response is not the same as a normal SRTA bus route and should not be assumed available for immediate pickup. A Sunday Demand Response schedule also does not prove that every fixed-route bus runs on Sunday.
Service reliability and detours

Fall River SRTA Service Alerts: Check Before Leaving

SRTA publishes route-specific service disruptions and detours. These matter because a bus can still have a published timetable even when particular trips are canceled or a normal stop is temporarily bypassed.

Trip cancellation Some departures can be canceled because of staff or vehicle availability. Check your specific route and trip time.
Street detour Road construction or other restrictions can move a bus away from its normal boarding street.
Weather disruption Snow, heavy rain and unsafe road conditions can change or suspend service. Check SRTA announcements before travel.

Recent Example: November 2, 2026 Route 110 Detour

SRTA published a dated Route 110 Rodman Street detour for Monday, November 2, 2026, involving Brayton Avenue, Reeves Street, Warren Avenue and Quequechan Street. The notice distinguishes outbound and inbound detour instructions.

This example illustrates why route direction matters during a detour. It is not confirmation that the November 2 routing remains active on November 3.

Do not treat yesterday’s cancellation as today’s. SRTA has also published dated trip-cancellation lists affecting Routes 101, 103, 104, 105, 108 and 109. Always check the newest notice for the date you are actually traveling.

How to Check a Same-Day SRTA Disruption

  1. Open the SRTA service notice directory.
  2. Find the latest notice for your date.
  3. Read the Fall River section, not only New Bedford.
  4. Match the bus number and scheduled trip time.
  5. Check whether the notice says outbound, inbound or both.
  6. Open the official detours page if the route is rerouted.
  7. Confirm any replacement boarding location before leaving.

For major winter weather, SRTA advises checking its official announcements and local broadcast information rather than relying on an old printed timetable.

Practical Tips for Traveling Around Fall River

Shopping trips need return planning

Walmart, Southcoast Marketplace and Swansea shopping destinations may be served by less frequent trips than the main downtown corridors. Check the final return departure before leaving the terminal.

Hospital visits need extra time

Medical campuses may have several entrances. Confirm which street or stop leads to your appointment building rather than assuming the first nearby bus stop is the correct one.

Do not mix up express and local Route 9

The intercity express trip may skip UMass Dartmouth and Dartmouth Mall. Read the trip’s express-service indicator before boarding.

Terminal and rail station are different places

Fall River bus terminal and MBTA Fall River Depot serve different modes of transportation. A timed connection requires checking the exact departure location of both services.

Student trips can differ

Look for school-day-only symbols and route variations, especially around Bristol Community College and local school dismissal times.

Keep a backup before travel

Save the official timetable, stop details and customer-service number. Real-time apps can be temporarily unavailable or show only scheduled information.
