Q83 Bus Schedule: Jamaica to Cambria Heights, Times, Stops & Map

The MTA Q83 bus connects Jamaica and Cambria Heights in Queens via Liberty Avenue, Farmers Boulevard and Murdock Avenue. It runs every day, including overnight, and serves Jamaica Center, St. Albans and residential neighborhoods near Springfield Boulevard.

Following the 2025 Queens Bus Network Redesign, the Q83 no longer makes its former overnight diversion to Queens Village LIRR. Instead, the eastern end uses the Cambria Heights 113th Drive/114th Avenue corridor throughout the day and night.

Quick schedule answer

What Time Does the Q83 Bus Run?

The Q83 operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, between Jamaica and Cambria Heights. Service is more frequent during weekday peak periods, with longer gaps overnight and on weekends.

Current MTA-derived schedule information shows frequent weekday departures from the Jamaica terminal at 153rd Street/88th Avenue and from the Cambria Heights terminal at 227th Street/113th Drive.

Weekday peak ~4–5 min Frequent service during the busier periods.
Weekday midday ~9–10 min Typically regular scheduled departures.
Weekend daytime ~10–15 min Frequency varies on Saturday and Sunday.
Overnight ~30–60 min Longer intervals than daytime service.
No single first or last daytime bus Because Q83 runs overnight, the route does not operate only between a fixed morning start and evening finish. Use your selected travel date and stop to identify the next scheduled or predicted bus.

Important Queens Bus Network Redesign update

Q83 Route Changes: What Happened to the Queens Village Overnight Bus?

This is one of the most important things to know if you have used Q83 for several years.

The MTA changed the route as part of the Queens Bus Network Redesign on June 29, 2025.

Before the redesign

Overnight Q83 buses previously made a diversion toward Queens Village LIRR.

Older online maps and transit applications may still display that historical nighttime routing.

Current service

Q83 operates along the Cambria Heights terminal corridor on 113th Drive and 114th Avenue throughout the day and night.

The separate Q83 Limited service was also discontinued.

Other Changes That Matter

  • Some former Q83 stops were removed or consolidated.
  • The route continues serving Liberty Avenue, Farmers Boulevard and Murdock Avenue.
  • The old Q83 Limited designation should not be used for planning current travel.
  • Riders formerly using Queens Village LIRR overnight should compare other transit options instead of assuming Q83 still goes there.
Do not use an outdated Q83 overnight map. A pre-June-2025 map can show a different eastern terminal pattern. Check the current MTA route direction and stop list before traveling.

Saturday, Sunday and overnight travel

Q83 Saturday and Sunday Bus Schedule

Q83 operates on Saturdays and Sundays, including overnight service. However, daytime and evening intervals differ from weekday commuting periods.

Saturday daytime ~10–12 min Many daytime periods have departures approximately 10–12 minutes apart.
Sunday daytime ~12–15 min Sunday daytime buses generally operate less frequently than weekday peak buses.
Weekend overnight ~30–60 min Overnight intervals can be considerably longer.

These are frequency patterns based on available 2026 route data, not a complete weekend timetable. Select the actual Saturday or Sunday date and direction in the current official travel tools.

How to Check Your Weekend Trip

  1. Open the MTA Trip Planner or MTA app.
  2. Enter your starting stop and destination.
  3. Choose Saturday or Sunday and the correct date.
  4. Check the suggested Q83 departure.
  5. Open the route and verify your boarding stop.
  6. Review any current service alerts.
  7. Recheck Bus Time shortly before leaving.
Sunday-night travel tip If your bus departs after midnight, confirm which calendar day the trip belongs to. A departure at 12:30 AM Monday is not the same date as 12:30 AM Sunday.

Q83 Holiday Service

MTA services may use Sunday, Saturday or reduced-weekday schedules on major holidays. The applicable pattern is determined by the agency’s current holiday notice.

Do not assume that a normal weekday Q83 departure will operate at the same time on Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year’s Day.

Check official MTA holiday and service alerts .

How to Find Your Stop on the Map

  1. Open the official MTA Q83 route page in Bus Time.
  2. Select Cambria Heights or Jamaica direction.
  3. Find the stop name matching your street intersection.
  4. Open the stop to view approaching buses.
  5. Check the exact side of the street.
  6. Look for a temporary stop relocation notice.
  7. Confirm the destination displayed on the approaching vehicle.

Important boarding locations

Where Does the Q83 Start in Jamaica?

The current Q83 route data identifies 153rd Street/88th Avenue as the Jamaica-side terminal.

On trips toward Cambria Heights, the route also serves Jamaica Center / Bay E, an important boarding and transfer point.

Jamaica-side terminal 153 St / 88 Av Use the official Q83 stop listing to find the correct terminal and approaching buses.
Jamaica Center boarding Bay E Current Cambria Heights-bound Q83 information lists Jamaica Center / Bay E.

Does the Jamaica-Bound Q83 Stop at Bay E?

The Jamaica-bound published stop sequence is different. It includes Archer Avenue and ends at 153rd Street/88th Avenue.

Do not automatically wait at the same bay when making a return trip.

Cambria Heights Terminal

The eastern Q83 terminal is at 227th Street/113th Drive.

The route approaches this terminal through the 114th Avenue and 113th Drive area. Check the physical stop sign and destination before boarding toward Jamaica.

2026 MTA fares

How Much Does the Q83 Bus Cost?

The Q83 is an MTA local bus and uses the regular local bus fare of $3.00 in 2026.

Regular adult fare $3.00 Standard local bus ride.
Reduced fare $1.50 Eligible seniors and riders with qualifying disabilities.
OMNY 7-day cap $35 Qualifying full-fare local bus and subway travel.
Reduced-fare cap $17.50 Eligible reduced-fare OMNY users.

How to Pay Using OMNY

  1. Prepare an eligible contactless card, phone, wearable or OMNY card.
  2. Board through the designated fare-payment entrance.
  3. Tap the OMNY reader.
  4. Check for payment confirmation.
  5. Use the same payment card or device when transferring.

Does the Q83 Include a Free Transfer?

Eligible local bus and subway transfers are generally available within the MTA’s applicable two-hour transfer window.

Use the same qualifying payment method for both parts of your journey.

How the OMNY Fare Cap Helps Frequent Riders

If you use Q83 and the subway regularly, the rolling seven-day OMNY cap may reduce your total qualifying fare payments.

The cap depends on using the same eligible card or device consistently.

Payment tip If you pay for Q83 with a physical bank card and then use the same bank card through a mobile wallet for the subway, those may be treated as different payment credentials. Use one consistent payment method.

Can You Pay Cash?

MTA has been transitioning from MetroCard to OMNY and has announced changes to cash farebox acceptance during 2026.

Use OMNY when possible and confirm the current coin and MetroCard acceptance policy before relying on an older instruction.

Check official MTA Q83 fare and transfer rules .

How to Track the Q83 Bus Live

MTA Bus Time provides Q83 stop information and approaching-vehicle estimates.

It is more useful for an intermediate stop than reading only the terminal departure time.

1 Open Bus Time Visit the official MTA tracking website.
2 Search Q83 Select Cambria Heights–Jamaica.
3 Choose direction Jamaica or Cambria Heights.
4 Select stop Confirm the intersection or stop code.
5 Check arrivals Review approaching buses and alerts.

Open MTA Q83 Live Bus Tracker

Scheduled time vs live arrival A scheduled departure is the time the bus is planned to operate. A live prediction uses newer vehicle information when available and may change.

Track Q83 Using Text Messages

MTA Bus Time also supports text-based arrival lookups using the bus stop code.

Official text number 511123

Find the six-digit code for your exact bus stop.

Send the stop code followed by Q83.

STOPCODE Q83

Replace STOPCODE with the actual number printed at your stop or shown in the MTA app.

SMS Tracking Steps

  1. Find your stop’s six-digit code.
  2. Open your phone’s text messaging app.
  3. Enter the stop code and Q83.
  4. Send the message to 511123.
  5. Review the reported arrivals.
  6. Confirm your bus’s destination before boarding.
Important SMS mistake Do not use another stop’s code merely because it is nearby. The same route may use different stop positions in each direction.

Read official MTA Bus Time text-message instructions .

Subway and bus connections

Q83 Transfers at Jamaica Center and Liberty Avenue

Q83 is useful for riders traveling from Cambria Heights and St. Albans toward the Jamaica transportation network.

Jamaica Center E, J and Z subway connections at the Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer area.
Hillside Avenue Nearby F subway connections around the Jamaica-side terminal area.
Other Jamaica buses Connections to local routes serving other Queens neighborhoods.

Q83 to Jamaica Center E/J/Z Subway

  1. Ride a Jamaica-bound Q83.
  2. Check the current stop near Archer Avenue.
  3. Follow signs to Jamaica Center–Parsons/Archer.
  4. Choose the correct subway line and direction.
  5. Use an eligible OMNY payment method for any qualifying transfer.

Q83 and the F Train

The Jamaica-side terminal area provides access to the wider Hillside Avenue transit network.

The F train serves stations along Hillside Avenue, but the walking distance depends on the station entrance you choose.

Compare the full walking route instead of assuming every subway entrance is beside the Q83 stop.

Connecting to the Q3

If your destination lies along Farmers Boulevard or you need a bus toward the JFK airport area, compare the Q83 with the Q3 bus schedule for Jamaica, Farmers Boulevard and JFK .

Q3 and Q83 serve different corridors and do not share every stop. Check where a practical transfer is available before leaving.

Connecting to the Q8

Riders heading toward 101st Avenue, East New York or Gateway Center should compare another bus rather than assuming Q83 reaches those destinations directly.

Our Q8 timetable covering Jamaica, 101st Avenue and Gateway Center provides that separate route’s service information and stop guidance.

Airport travel

Does the Q83 Bus Go Directly to JFK Airport?

No. Q83 does not directly serve JFK passenger terminals.

A passenger can travel toward Jamaica and then use an appropriate subway, bus or AirTrain connection.

Q83 to JFK via Jamaica

  1. Ride the Q83 toward Jamaica.
  2. Exit at the appropriate Jamaica-area stop.
  3. Check an available connection toward Jamaica Station and AirTrain JFK.
  4. Follow current signs to the correct AirTrain boarding area.
  5. Check the separate AirTrain fare where applicable.
  6. Continue to the required airport terminal.
Airport travel warning The Q83’s bus fare does not automatically include every subsequent airport transit fare. Allow time for the transfer, ticketing, walking and any airport construction.

Check official JFK AirTrain service information .

Compare nearby routes

Q83 vs Q4, Q84 and Other Jamaica Buses

Q83 may be the right route for Murdock Avenue and the Liberty Avenue corridor, but it is not the only bus connecting southeastern Queens neighborhoods with Jamaica.

Route Useful travel need What to verify
Q83 Murdock Avenue, Liberty Avenue and Cambria Heights. Jamaica or 227th Street direction.
Q4 Other southeastern Queens and Jamaica connections. Current route, destination and boarding stop.
Q84 Nearby St. Albans and Laurelton-area travel. Whether it serves your actual street.
Q3 Farmers Boulevard and JFK-area connections. The correct transfer and final destination.
Q8 101st Avenue and Gateway Center. The Jamaica boarding location and travel day.

How to Choose Between Two Bus Routes

  1. Enter the actual final destination.
  2. Compare both route stop lists.
  3. Check the walking distance to each boarding stop.
  4. Review departure and arrival estimates.
  5. Include any required transfer waiting time.
  6. Check accessibility and late-night service if important.

Accessible travel information

Q83 Wheelchair Accessibility and Reduced Fares

MTA local buses provide accessibility features for riders using wheelchairs and other mobility devices.

However, conditions around individual bus stops may affect boarding.

Accessible boarding Check the available boarding ramp and mobility device arrangements when needed.
Reduced fare Eligible senior and disabled riders may qualify for the published reduced local fare.
Stop access Verify curb access, sidewalks, construction and any stop relocation.

Accessible Q83 Trip Checklist

  1. Find your current boarding stop.
  2. Confirm the stop is served by Q83 in your direction.
  3. Check the accessible walking route.
  4. Review temporary closures and service notices.
  5. Check station elevator status if transferring.
  6. Prepare the applicable fare credential.
  7. Request boarding assistance where required.
Local accessibility consideration Q83 stop spacing changed after the Queens Bus Network Redesign. If a former stop was removed, the nearest active boarding location may require additional walking.

Access-A-Ride

Riders who cannot use fixed-route transit may qualify for MTA Access-A-Ride. Eligibility and reservations are separate from ordinary Q83 service.

How to Check or Download the Q83 Bus Schedule

A printable PDF is useful for checking scheduled timepoints and holiday notes. However, schedule files can be replaced after a service change.

The MTA’s Q83 schedule shortcut was not consistently returning a Q83 document during this research, so this guide does not claim an unverified current PDF effective date.

Reliable Micro-Step Guide

  1. Open the official MTA website or MTA app.
  2. Find the bus schedules or route-search section.
  3. Search for Q83.
  4. Check that the result says Cambria Heights–Jamaica.
  5. If a PDF opens, verify that Q83 appears on its first page.
  6. Read the document’s effective date.
  7. Choose your weekday or weekend timetable.
  8. Select the Jamaica-bound or Cambria Heights-bound table.
  9. Read a complete trip across its timepoints.
  10. Confirm your exact stop using MTA Bus Time.
PDF verification warning Do not trust a downloaded file merely because its URL contains “q83”. Verify the printed route number, direction and effective date. If the page opens a different route, return to MTA’s route search or Bus Time.

Q83 Bus Problems: Delays, Missing Stops and Wrong Directions

My old overnight Q83 no longer goes to Queens Village.

The overnight route changed in June 2025. Use the current terminal pattern and compare other services for Queens Village LIRR.

Q83 does not appear in live tracking.

Confirm the direction and stop code. A missing live prediction can result from a reporting delay, not necessarily a canceled trip.

My Jamaica boarding stop has moved.

Check temporary alerts and the current Jamaica Center boarding position. Do not rely on an older terminal map.

I boarded toward the wrong destination.

Confirm whether the headsign says Cambria Heights 227 St or Jamaica Hillside-153 St.

The bus is late during the afternoon commute.

Traffic near Jamaica and Liberty Avenue may affect arrivals. Check an updated prediction and allow extra travel time.

I need a bus after midnight.

Overnight Q83 service continues, but gaps can be long. Confirm the correct calendar date and departure.

Current Service Alert Checks

MTA Bus Time has displayed notices involving traffic-related Q83 delays in Jamaica and temporary closures near 150th Street/Jamaica Avenue.

Such alerts can be short-lived. Do not treat a previously reported closure as permanent.

  1. Open official MTA service alerts.
  2. Search for Q83.
  3. Check whether the alert is still active.
  4. Confirm the affected direction and stop.
  5. Use only the alternative stop specified for that alert.
