STA Bus Schedule: Routes, Times & Stops

STA bus schedules are published by Spokane Transit Authority for Spokane, Spokane Valley, Cheney, Liberty Lake, Airway Heights, Medical Lake and surrounding communities in eastern Washington. There is no single departure timetable for the entire STA network: first and last buses depend on the route, stop, direction and service day.

To find your bus, open STA’s official route directory, choose a route such as 1 City Line, 4 Monroe-Regal, 6 Cheney, 7 Valley/Airport or 25 Division, then select your direction and exact stop. For live arrival predictions, use Transit App or enter the four-digit stop ID in STA Stop Lookup.

This guide covers major routes, the downtown Plaza bays, $2 fares, Connect payment, airport connections, regional park-and-rides, holiday schedules, winter detours and accessibility — with instructions for what to do after opening each official website.

How Do I Find My STA Bus Schedule?

The most reliable method is to choose your route on STA Routes & Schedules, open the route page, select its direction and timetable, then check your stop’s next departure. STA operates a network of local, frequent, regional, commuter, express and shuttle routes.

1 Choose your route Search by number, name or destination.
2 Choose direction Check the destination and terminal.
3 Check service day Weekday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday.
4 Find the stop Use the posted four-digit stop ID.
5 Check live + alerts Confirm the predicted departure and detour status.
Important: STA does not have one universal first or last bus time. City Line, Route 25 Division, Route 7 Valley/Airport and Route 6 Cheney serve different corridors with different operating hours. A time shown for one route must not be applied to another.

STA recommends reaching the stop at least five minutes before the scheduled departure. If you are catching a flight, medical appointment, campus connection or last evening bus, allow more time.

Route-number confusion STA Route 6 is the Spokane–Cheney service. Route 6 in Chicago, Philadelphia or another city is not the same bus. Our Route 6 schedule comparison and agency guide explains how to avoid using a timetable from the wrong city; for an actual Cheney trip, use Spokane Transit’s official Route 6 page above.

STA also lists routes 11, 12, 14, 21, 22, 23, 27, 28, 33, 34, 35, 36, 43, 45, 63, 65, 68, 94, 95, 96, 144, 173, 190, 223, 247, 294, 307, 342, 343, 633, 661–664, 722, 724 and 771. Service days and availability differ; some are commuter, school-related, event or shuttle services rather than all-day local routes.

Timetable and service-day guidance

STA Bus Times: Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays

STA publishes a separate timetable for each route. The official route pages provide scheduled departures, current trips, stops, directions and downloadable schedule/map documents. Some commuter routes run only at particular times or on workdays, while high-demand routes operate much more frequently.

Weekday schedules

Check commuter peaks, school-day routes, early departures and late service separately. A route serving an office corridor may have a different pattern from City Line.

Saturday schedules

Not all weekday routes operate on Saturday. Use the route’s Saturday timetable instead of assuming every weekday trip runs.

Sunday and holiday schedules

Sunday service may have fewer trips. Holidays can follow either a Saturday, Sunday or regular schedule depending on the date.

City Line: A Useful Frequency Example

STA’s published City Line frequency guide, effective January 19, 2025, gives the following baseline patterns. Individual service revisions can affect the timetable, so the active Route 1 schedule remains the final source.

City Line period Published baseline frequency Rider guidance
Weekday, 5–6 AM Every 30 minutes Check the exact first departure from your station.
Weekday, 6 AM–6 PM Every 7.5–15 minutes Use station real-time signs and the current route timetable.
Weekday, 6–11 PM Every 10–15 minutes Check the correct direction and last trip.
Weekday, 11 PM–1:15 AM Every 30 minutes Late-night station departure times vary.
Saturday, 6 AM–6 PM Every 15 minutes, baseline Check for temporary service enhancements or changes.
Sunday, 8 AM–5 PM Every 15 minutes, baseline Outside those hours the published baseline is less frequent.
2026 schedule changes matter. STA introduced temporary extra service on some routes during June and July 2026. Do not copy an enhanced summer timetable into a November trip. Choose the current service date and the official active route schedule instead.

How to Read a Schedule PDF

  1. Open STA Routes & Schedules.
  2. Select the correct route number.
  3. Choose the appropriate direction.
  4. Open the Timetable view or the Schedule & Map PDF.
  5. Check the document’s effective date.
  6. Find the weekday, Saturday or Sunday column.
  7. Locate the closest major timepoint.
  8. For an intermediate stop, use Stop Lookup or the route page’s stop list.
  9. Check the current Alerts section before leaving.

Do not assume that a timepoint is your exact stop. STA identifies timepoints as major stops used to describe a bus’s scheduled progress. Intermediate times can be estimates, and the agency advises arriving five minutes early.

Find STA Bus Stops by Their Four-Digit Stop Numbers

Each STA bus-stop sign displays a four-digit stop number. This is one of the easiest ways to avoid checking the wrong direction at a pair of nearby stops.

How Stop Lookup works
  1. Find the four-digit STOP # on the curbside sign.
  2. Open the official Stop Lookup page.
  3. Enter all four digits.
  4. Select or submit Get Next Trips.
  5. Review upcoming departures for that exact stop.

Open STA Stop Lookup

When a stop is temporarily closed
  1. Read the stop closure or detour alert.
  2. Check the direction affected.
  3. Identify the official alternative stop or A-frame.
  4. Confirm an accessible walking route if necessary.
  5. Check departures again from the replacement location.

Real-time GPS bus tracking

How to Track an STA Bus Live

STA supports several ways to check real-time service, including Transit App, the route pages, Stop Lookup, digital monitors and text-based arrivals.

Transit App

STA identifies Transit App as its official trip-planning app and provides Transit Royale access. Use it to find routes, follow available vehicle locations and see detour information.

Get official Transit App instructions

Stop Lookup

Enter the four-digit stop number printed on the bus-stop sign to see approaching services and departures within the next two hours.

Check your stop’s departures

Text Your Stop

STA’s winter guidance also directs riders to text their stop number to 99689 for next-bus information.

Understanding STA’s Live Arrival Colors

Display Meaning What the rider should do
Green time GPS-based estimated departure Use the prediction but arrive early.
Black time on route pages Scheduled timetable departure Do not assume the bus is physically approaching.
Red time Bus delayed by five minutes or more Check the updated prediction and any route alert.
White time on station monitors Scheduled departure rather than GPS estimate Compare with the live tracker if available.
Real-time information is an estimate. A missing GPS prediction does not prove that a trip has been canceled. If the bus is not appearing, check the scheduled timetable and current Alerts page as well.
STA fare information

How Much Is the STA Bus Fare in 2026?

Spokane Transit publishes a standard fixed-route fare of $2.00, with reduced and zero-fare programs for eligible riders.

Regular adult fare $2.00 Standard fixed-route trip
Reduced fare $1.00 Eligible riders with a Reduced Fare Connect card
Paratransit fare $2.00 Qualifying Paratransit service
Youth age 18 and under FREE Through Youth Ride Free

STA Two-Hour Pass

STA offers a two-hour ride window. A rider paying the regular $2 fare can use eligible STA bus services within that period without paying another full fare.

When paying cash, ask the driver for the appropriate two-hour transfer ticket and follow the instructions on the farebox. With eligible contactless or Connect payment, use the same payment method for subsequent rides.

STA Connect Fare Capping

Standard-fare riders $4 daily

After paying the equivalent of two qualifying fares, additional eligible rides that day are covered.

Monthly cap: $60 per calendar month using Connect.

Eligible reduced-fare riders $2 daily

Reduced-fare Connect customers have corresponding lower caps.

Monthly cap: $30 per calendar month.

Important fare-cap distinction STA’s official fare-capping page describes daily and monthly Connect caps. Contactless bank cards also have a daily cap, but do not automatically assume that every payment method shares Connect’s monthly fare-capping features.

Check official Spokane Transit fares and payment methods.

Read STA’s fare-capping rules and examples.

Connect card and payment instructions

How to Pay for an STA Bus Ride

Physical Connect Card

  1. Get a Connect card and add value or an eligible fare product.
  2. Board the bus at the correct stop.
  3. Place the card flat against the reader.
  4. Wait for the beep and green check mark.
  5. Use the same card on eligible connecting trips.

eConnect Mobile QR Code

  1. Open the STA Connect App.
  2. Select the fare-payment symbol.
  3. Display your QR code.
  4. Hold the phone approximately eight inches below the reader.
  5. Check the green payment confirmation.

Contactless Bank Card

  1. Prepare an accepted contactless Visa, Mastercard or Discover card.
  2. Alternatively, use supported Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  3. Tap the validator once when boarding.
  4. Use the same card or device for eligible subsequent rides.

Cash Payment

  1. Prepare the correct fare in US bills or coins.
  2. Insert flat, unfolded bills or accepted coins.
  3. Do not use pennies or tokens.
  4. Ask for your two-hour pass when applicable.
  5. Keep the printed ticket for the remaining eligible period.
Physical Connect vs eConnect STA states that a physical Connect card and a virtual eConnect card can have separate balances and fare-cap tracking. Do not assume switching between them will preserve progress toward the same monthly cap.

Visit STA Connect for card ordering, account access, app instructions and reload information.

Route 1 City Line

STA City Line Schedule and Special Boarding Rules

City Line is Spokane’s electric bus rapid transit route, connecting Browne’s Addition, downtown Spokane, the University District and Spokane Community College. It has frequent service and distinctive boarding stations.

3STA Plaza
4University District
5Gonzaga area

Why City Line Boarding Is Different

Some City Line stations board from the left side or from a center platform. At those stations, the bus may not have a front-door boarding position accessible from the platform.

Right-side boarding station

Depending on the station and vehicle, front, middle and rear boarding doors may be available. Cash fares are accepted at the front door, with supported card/contactless readers at other doors.

Left-side or center boarding station

Cash is not accepted onboard at left-boarding City Line stations. Use the available ticket vending machine before boarding, or use an accepted card/payment method.

Important City Line cash rule If you are boarding from the left side of the bus and only have cash, obtain the ticket at the station vending machine before the bus arrives. Do not rely on paying the driver at a door that is not available.

Airport, university and regional routes

STA Airport Bus, Cheney, EWU and Spokane Valley Schedules

Route 7 — Valley/Airport

STA Route 7 connects the airport corridor with downtown Spokane and Spokane Valley. It is a useful option when planning journeys to Spokane International Airport or cross-city Valley connections.

However, the correct boarding point at the airport can change during construction. STA’s current alerts directory has listed a temporary closure of the Concourse C stop, directing affected passengers to Concourse A. Check the active notice before heading to a terminal stop; do not treat a dated construction alert as a permanent arrangement.

View Route 7 Valley/Airport schedule, stops and alerts.

Route 6 and Route 66 — Cheney and Eastern Washington University

Route 6 Cheney and Route 66 EWU serve connections between Spokane, the West Plains and the Cheney/EWU area. The route pages distinguish directions, campus-related stops and service patterns.

Route 6 Cheney

Useful for the Spokane–Cheney corridor, West Plains Transit Center and Eagle Station connections. Select the correct direction and check any K Street Station detours.

Open Route 6 Cheney timetable
Route 66 EWU

Useful for EWU-area travel. Check the official schedule, the academic calendar and whether the selected trip is a regular or school-period service.

Find Route 66 EWU
Campus schedule caution Some STA express routes operate only during EWU’s regular school days. Do not assume an academic-year express will run on a university break, summer day or holiday.

Route 93 — Molter Loop in Liberty Lake

STA’s Route 93 is the Molter Loop, serving Liberty Lake Park & Ride and local destinations around Molter Road and Meadowwood Technology Campus. Our Route 93 schedule and agency comparison guide includes the Spokane Molter Loop route among its verified Route 93 examples. Use the official STA page for the final local timetable.

Regional transfer locations

STA Park & Ride and Transit Center Connections

Park-and-ride lots can simplify a Spokane-area journey, particularly for commuters from Cheney, North Spokane, the West Plains and Liberty Lake. But the correct lot depends on the route and return schedule.

Location Relevant services Practical advice
Moran Station 4, 144 Confirm north/south direction and bay before boarding.
Jefferson Park & Ride 6, 61, 66 and selected express/shuttle routes Useful for West Plains/Cheney connections; check trip-specific availability.
Five Mile Park & Ride 4 and selected EWU-related service Check service day and parking rules.
Hastings Park & Ride 25, 124 and selected express service Useful for North Spokane corridor trips.
Liberty Lake Park & Ride 93, 98 and other Liberty Lake connections Confirm bay and whether the next route serves your destination.
Pence-Cole Valley Transit Center 9, 95, 96, 97, 98 and additional Valley services Check temporary bay changes during construction.
Park-and-ride rule Do not park at a transit center without checking the lot’s parking conditions, permitted hours and the availability of your return bus. Parking does not guarantee that an evening or weekend connecting route operates.

Use the official STA route directory to match each lot with its active routes and travel date.

Spokane weather and calendar changes

STA Holiday Bus Schedules and Winter Detours

Holiday and snow operations can materially change your journey. The fact that a route appears in the standard timetable does not guarantee that its normal stop or service pattern will apply on a holiday or during a snow detour.

Holiday Service Patterns

STA’s published holiday-service information distinguishes holidays running Saturday service, Sunday service or regular service. Recent agency guidance uses these patterns:

Saturday-style service

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day and Labor Day.

Sunday-style service

New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Regular-service holidays

STA has listed Presidents’ Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day/Columbus Day and Veterans Day as regular-service holidays.

Holiday verification These are the agency’s published holiday categories, not a guarantee that every route has a trip on each holiday. Open the specific holiday schedule and route page before traveling.

View official STA holiday service information.

Winter Operations: What Changes During Snow?

STA publishes pre-planned snow detours for routes including 4, 6, 12, 14, 20, 22, 23, 33, 34, 35, 36, 45, 66, 68, 94, 124, 144, 223, 247 and 294.

When an officially assigned snow detour is active, normal stop locations may be skipped. STA’s winter guidance says a safe stop or intersection along the published detour may be used for boarding, subject to the driver’s judgment.

Snow-Day Micro-Steps

  1. Open STA Winter Operations.
  2. Check whether your route has a pre-planned snow detour.
  3. Open the applicable route map or current alert.
  4. Identify any skipped stops or alternate boarding location.
  5. Confirm that you can safely reach the alternative stop.
  6. Allow extra time for slower traffic and slippery sidewalks.
  7. Check live arrivals again before leaving.
Spokane winter safety reminder A bus can remain in service even while the normal boarding area is obstructed by snow, ice or construction. Do not stand in an unsafe roadway location. Use STA’s designated alternative and contact passenger assistance if necessary.
Accessibility and disability services

Are Spokane Transit Buses Wheelchair Accessible?

STA states that its regular buses are accessible and equipped with ramps for wheelchair users. However, an accessible vehicle is only one part of an accessible trip; a stop’s curb, sidewalk, platform and connecting route can also affect travel.

Accessible fixed-route buses

STA provides boarding ramps and wheelchair-accessible bus facilities. Confirm the best boarding door and ask the operator for assistance when necessary.

Accessible stops and transfers

Check the current stop, sidewalk condition, snow clearing, station platform and walking route before a transfer.

Reduced and zero-fare programs

Eligible riders with qualifying disabilities may apply for Reduced Fare Connect. Other zero-fare categories have separate requirements.

STA Paratransit Is a Separate Service

STA Paratransit provides qualifying door-to-door transportation for riders whose disabilities prevent them from using fixed-route service under applicable eligibility standards. Having a disability does not automatically establish eligibility; an application and assessment process are required.

STA lists 509-328-1552 for Paratransit eligibility and service assistance. TTY callers can use Washington Relay 711.

How to Request Accessible Information

  1. Visit STA Accessibility.
  2. Find the relevant fixed-route, ADA or Paratransit information.
  3. Review available accessible formats or language-assistance options.
  4. Check the current service limitations and application instructions.
  5. Contact STA for assistance when the website does not answer your specific need.
Accessible City Line detail City Line’s middle-door boarding arrangements are designed to support accessibility. At a left-side or center platform, check the station signage and payment method rather than assuming a conventional front-door boarding pattern.
Common rider problems

STA Bus Schedule Troubleshooting

The bus is not showing in the app.

Confirm the route, direction and stop ID. The vehicle may not be reporting GPS information. Check the route’s scheduled timetable and active alerts instead of assuming cancellation.

My Plaza transfer is too close.

Look up both bay numbers before reaching downtown. A connection between different sides of the Plaza can require additional walking time.

The schedule PDF has a different time.

Check its effective date and whether it is for weekday, Saturday, Sunday, holiday or school-related service. Prefer the current official route page for a trip today.

My stop is closed.

Read the route-specific alert for replacement boarding instructions. During snow, verify a safe alternative rather than standing where the bus cannot stop.

I need to reach the airport.

Use Route 7 Valley/Airport and check the airport’s current boarding stop. Concourse construction may require using a different designated stop.

My bus route shares a number with another city.

Include “Spokane Transit” or “STA” in your search and confirm the local route name before using a timetable from a generic route-number website.

Route 25 Division: Extra North Spokane Guidance

Spokane Route 25 follows the Division corridor, with downtown Plaza connections and North Spokane travel. Our Bus 25 route and agency schedule guide includes Spokane’s Division service among its route examples. For the final departure, always open STA’s official Route 25 page because other cities also operate buses numbered 25.
