Quick answer

There Is No Single Nationwide Route 240 Schedule

The correct Route 240 timetable depends on the operating agency. King County Metro Route 240 connects Bellevue and Renton. UTA Route 240 travels between West Valley Central Station and Jordan Valley Station. Maryland MTA Commuter Bus 240 links Kent Island Park & Ride locations with Washington, DC.

1 Choose your city Bellevue/Renton, Salt Lake Valley, or Kent Island/DC.
2 Match the operator King County Metro, Utah Transit Authority or Maryland MTA.
3 Choose direction Match the destination sign and correct boarding side.
4 Check your day Weekday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday.
5 Check live Confirm the exact stop, alerts and next departure.
Important: Route 240 is not automatically the same as Route 240X, 240A, another operator’s 240, or a route with a similar number. Do not use a timetable until the route name and agency match your trip.

Renton Transit Center 6:09 AM 6:42 AM 7:16 AM

The first displayed example takes approximately 54 minutes from Bellevue Transit Center to Renton Transit Center. The next two displayed trips take approximately 57 and 61 minutes.

Current Bellevue boarding change Metro’s October 2026 service advisory reports that construction reroutes Route 240 at Bellevue Transit Center. While the printed timetable identifies Bay 9, riders should use temporary Bellevue Transit Center Bay 1, Stop #85630 during the published August 29–December 21 construction period, unless a newer alert changes that arrangement.

Other weekday examples shown in Metro’s schedule include Bellevue departures at 9:15 AM, 9:30 AM, 10:00 AM, 6:00 PM, 7:15 PM and 8:15 PM. This is a selection, not the full timetable or a promise that all trips use the same interval.

King County Route 240: Bellevue Construction and Closed Stops

A particularly important Route 240 detail is that an active construction advisory changes where riders should board at Bellevue Transit Center.

Bellevue Transit Center reroute

Metro reports construction-related rerouting from August 29 through December 21, 2026, affecting several routes, including 240.

Temporary Route 240 boarding: Bellevue Transit Center Bay 1, Stop #85630.

Main Street stop closure

Metro also reports that Stop #82810, Main Street at 112th Avenue NE westbound, is closed on weekdays from 8 AM to 3 PM during the published construction period ending December 31, 2026.

Alternatives listed include Stops #82790 and #85730. Confirm the current advisory before walking to either stop.

Why this matters An accurate bus timetable can still send a rider to the wrong place if the physical boarding stop has moved. On Route 240, the current service-advisory information is just as important as the departure time.
Utah Route 240

UTA Route 240: West Valley Central to Jordan Valley Station

UTA’s Route 240 follows the 4000 West/Dixie Valley corridor through West Valley City and West Jordan. The route connects West Valley Central Station with Jordan Valley Station and passes commercial, residential and healthcare destinations along the way.

The official April 2026 timetable lists West Valley Central Station, 3500 South at 4000 West, 4700 South at 4000 West, 5400 South at 4015 West, 6500 South at Dixie Drive, Jordan Landing, 8200 South at 4000 West, 9000 South at 4000 West and Jordan Valley Station.

9000 S & 4000 W 5:31 AM 6:01 AM 6:36 AM
Jordan Valley Station 5:37 AM 6:07 AM 6:44 AM

The first weekday example takes approximately 34 minutes from West Valley Central Station to Jordan Valley Station. Running time varies by the particular trip and prevailing road conditions.

Utah rider tip UTA Route 240 links West Valley Central Station and Jordan Valley Station. At these hubs, check transfers to TRAX or other local buses. The route’s 4000 West corridor is different from the similarly numbered F232 3200 West Flex route.

Weekend schedules

Route 240 Saturday, Sunday and Holiday Bus Service

King County Metro and UTA publish separate weekday, Saturday and Sunday information. Maryland’s Route 240 is a commuter-oriented service, and regular weekend trips should not be assumed without checking the official date-specific schedule.

King County Metro

Mon–Sun

Use the Saturday or Sunday tab on the active 2026–2027 Route 240 page. Times and frequency can differ from weekday service.

UTA

Mon–Sun

UTA’s official Route 240 PDF has weekday, Saturday and Sunday tables. Sunday service is generally less frequent than the weekday peak pattern.

Maryland MTA

Commuter

Check the selected travel date. The main published pattern serves weekday trips into DC in the morning and back toward Kent Island in the afternoon.

UTA Route 240 Sunday Example

The April 2026 UTA PDF lists the following Sunday journey toward Jordan Valley Station:

Timepoint Scheduled Sunday time
West Valley Central Station 6:05 AM
3500 S & 4000 W 6:11 AM
4700 S & 4000 W 6:15 AM
5400 S & 4015 W 6:19 AM
Jordan Landing 6:29 AM
Jordan Valley Station 6:43 AM

The scheduled Sunday example takes about 38 minutes between the two stations. Because the source PDF is effective April 2026, reopen the current UTA route page to confirm that these times remain applicable on your travel date.

UTA weekend frequency The published Sunday table shows departures from West Valley Central Station beginning at 6:05 AM and generally continuing hourly for much of the day. Saturday and weekday service have different patterns. Always use the correct day column.
Kent Island / Washington DC

Maryland MTA Route 240: Kent Island to Washington, DC

Maryland Transit Administration operates Route 240 as a commuter bus between Kent Island Park & Ride locations and Washington, DC. The main eastbound/westbound movement is not comparable to a normal city bus serving every short trip throughout the day.

Morning commuter buses travel from Kent Narrows and Stevensville into Washington, DC. Afternoon return trips head from Washington back toward Kent Island.

Morning Toward Washington, DC

Kent Narrows Park & Ride 5:00 AM

First listed scheduled morning departure in the selected official weekday table.

Stevensville Park & Ride 5:10 AM

The same trip picks up passengers near MD 8 and US 50.

Virginia Avenue, DC 6:30 AM

Scheduled final Washington stop for this example.

Selected Morning Trips From Kent Narrows

Departure Stevensville Virginia Ave, DC Scheduled duration
5:00 AM 5:10 AM 6:30 AM 90 minutes
6:00 AM 6:10 AM 7:43 AM 103 minutes
7:00 AM 7:10 AM 9:00 AM 120 minutes

These examples come from the official date-selected weekday Route 240 table for August 20, 2026. They illustrate how commuter travel time can increase during heavier morning traffic. Use Maryland MTA’s date selector for your current journey.

Afternoon Return Toward Kent Island

One listed return trip begins at 23rd Street and I Street NW at 3:24 PM, serves K Street and other downtown stops, reaches Stevensville at 4:57 PM and arrives at Kent Narrows Park & Ride at 5:05 PM.

Pickup-only and drop-off-only stops Maryland MTA identifies specific commuter stops as pickup-only or drop-off-only. On morning trips into Washington, Kent Island stops are pickups and Washington stops are drop-offs. The afternoon pattern reverses. Do not assume this route can be used for short local trips entirely within DC.

Maryland MTA Route 240 is not the same system as Montgomery County Ride On buses. If your connection takes you into Montgomery County, our Montgomery County Ride On bus schedules and transfer guide explains the separate county network, Flash services, operating days and fare rules.

UTA Route 240 fare details
MARYLAND MTA Commuter Bus Fare $4–$8 General one-way zone fare range

Maryland MTA publishes one-way commuter fares by zone, from $4 in Zone 1 to $8 in Zone 5. Route 240 riders must confirm the fare zone listed on the current route PDF rather than assuming every trip costs the same amount.

Maryland MTA zone fares
Special fare exception: October 16–18, 2026 Utah Transit Authority announced systemwide zero-fare service for these three dates while fare-system upgrades continue. This is temporary; Route 240 is not a permanently free service. Check UTA’s notice for the exact dates and conditions. Read UTA fare notice.
How to pay

Cash, ORCA, FAREPAY, CharmPass and Transfers

King County Metro

Riders can use ORCA cards, accepted contactless credit/debit payments, Transit GO tickets and other approved fare methods.

ORCA helps with eligible regional transfer benefits. Check the difference between an ORCA transfer and a cash payment before making a multi-agency journey.

UTA Utah

UTA accepts approved FAREPAY cards, Transit app tickets and cash for regular local service where supported.

The normal local two-hour fare may also cover eligible transfers within the published period. When using FAREPAY, follow UTA’s tap-on and tap-off instructions.

Maryland MTA

Commuter bus riders can use approved fare products including CharmPass mobile tickets, prepaid multi-trip products and passes where available.

Commuter fares depend on zone and ticket type. Select the correct zone and product before boarding.

Location reference

Google Map: Bellevue Transit Center

Bellevue Transit Center is one of the primary Route 240 boarding locations. This map is useful for finding the general transit center, but Metro’s active construction notice takes priority for your boarding bay.

  • Find Bellevue Transit Center.
  • Check the current Route 240 service alert.
  • Use the temporary boarding bay if directed.
  • Confirm the Renton or Bellevue destination.
  • Check your stop number and predicted arrival.
  • Allow walking time between transfer bays.

Our Google Maps bus schedules and public-transit navigation guide explains how to use Maps for walking directions, stop locations, connections and departures while still checking the official agency timetable for changes.

Live tracking

How to Track the Route 240 Bus in Real Time

Scheduled time is the planned departure. Live arrival is an estimate generated from newer vehicle data when available. Construction, traffic, detours, missing GPS reports or canceled trips can affect the actual arrival.

1 Open operator Metro, UTA or Maryland MTA.
2 Select 240 Confirm the correct service and route name.
3 Choose the stop Match direction, bay and stop ID.

How to Check UTA Route 240 Using a Stop ID

UTA provides a practical option for riders who know their bus stop. Look for the six-digit stop number printed on the physical stop sign, then use UTA’s next-bus information system.

  1. Find the official UTA Route 240 stop nearest your destination.
  2. Read the stop ID on the physical stop sign or official map.
  3. Text the stop ID to 882-882 for Ride Time information.
  4. Confirm Route 240 appears among the next departures.
  5. Recheck before walking to the stop, particularly during snow or construction.

Text predictions may not be available for every trip at every moment. The route’s printed timetable remains useful if live information is temporarily unavailable.

Service alerts and detours

Route 240 Alerts: What Can Change Your Bus Trip?

Construction

Can change routing and temporary boarding stops.

Weather

Snow, ice or other conditions can lead to delays or alternate routes.

Service changes

New schedule periods may shift first, last and intermediate departures.

Missed trips

Operator availability, incidents or disruptions may affect an individual departure.

Current route-specific caution In October 2026, King County Metro’s Route 240 has an active Bellevue Transit Center boarding change related to construction. For UTA, check the October 17–18 TRAX disruption affecting West Valley Central connections. For Maryland MTA, verify commuter trips against the selected date and current alerts.
Accessible travel

Accessibility, Reduced Fares and Boarding Assistance

Accessibility should be checked at both the vehicle and stop level. A bus can have an accessible ramp while the temporary stop is affected by construction, uneven pavement, winter conditions or a relocated boarding point.

Vehicle access

Review the operator’s official information about ramps, priority seating, mobility devices and boarding assistance.

Boarding location

Confirm that the actual bus stop, bay or temporary location meets your needs before leaving.

Reduced fares

King County Metro, UTA and Maryland MTA publish different eligibility, documentation and fare rules for reduced-fare passengers.

Local rider tips

Route 240 Travel Tips That Can Prevent a Missed Bus

Bellevue / Renton

Do not rely only on Bellevue Transit Center’s timetable bay number while the temporary construction reroute remains active. Check whether Route 240 boards at temporary Bay 1.

West Valley / West Jordan

UTA Route 240 travels along the 4000 West corridor. Confirm whether you are traveling toward Jordan Valley Station or West Valley Central, and check the correct six-digit stop number.

Kent Island / Washington

Maryland commuter trips have pickup-only and drop-off-only restrictions. When planning your afternoon return, verify the correct DC pickup stop rather than assuming the morning drop-off location works in reverse.

Before You Leave for Route 240

  • Identify the correct city and transit agency.

Frequently asked questions

Route 240 Bus Schedule FAQs

1. Where can I find the Route 240 bus schedule?

Choose the correct city first. King County Metro operates Route 240 between Bellevue and Renton, UTA operates Route 240 on the 4000 West/Dixie Valley corridor, and Maryland MTA operates Commuter Bus 240 between Kent Island and Washington, DC.

2. What time does the Route 240 bus start?

Start times vary by agency and direction. Selected weekday examples include King County Metro leaving Bellevue at 5:15 AM, UTA leaving West Valley Central at 5:03 AM and Maryland MTA leaving Kent Narrows at 5:00 AM. These are specific terminal examples, not universal Route 240 start times.

3. What time is the last Route 240 bus?

Last-bus times depend on the operator, direction, stop and day. The King County Metro weekday timetable includes a Bellevue departure at 8:15 PM, but later or differently routed trips may appear in the full timetable. UTA and Maryland MTA have their own last trips. Use the official schedule for your actual stop.

4. Does Route 240 run on Saturdays and Sundays?

King County Metro and UTA provide separate Saturday and Sunday Route 240 schedules. Maryland MTA Route 240 is primarily commuter-oriented, so weekend service should not be assumed without checking the date-selected official timetable.

5. How long does the Route 240 bus take?

Travel time depends on the agency and boarding points. A King County Metro Bellevue-to-Renton weekday example takes about 54 minutes. A UTA weekday West Valley Central-to-Jordan Valley example takes about 34 minutes. Maryland commuter journeys can take around 90 minutes or longer in the published examples.

6. How much does Route 240 cost?

King County Metro lists a $3 adult single ride. UTA’s normal local fare is $2.50, with a temporary systemwide zero-fare period from October 16–18, 2026. Maryland MTA commuter fares depend on zone, with its general one-way full-fare table ranging from $4 to $8.

7. Does King County Metro Route 240 stop at Bellevue Transit Center?

Yes. Bellevue Transit Center is a Route 240 terminal area. However, construction advisories in October 2026 direct Route 240 riders to temporary Bay 1, Stop #85630, rather than relying only on the normal timetable bay.

8. Where does UTA Route 240 go?

UTA Route 240 connects West Valley Central Station with Jordan Valley Station through 4000 West, Dixie Valley and Jordan Landing. The official map and timetable provide the complete list of timepoints and transfers.

9. Where can I download the Route 240 map or PDF?

King County Metro and UTA provide official PDF timetables through their route pages. Maryland MTA Route 240 provides a PDF Schedule and Route Map JPG option on its official schedule page. Always check the effective date.

10. How can I track Route 240 live and avoid missing the bus?

Open the correct operator’s official tracking or trip-planning service, select Route 240, confirm direction and stop ID, then review current predictions and service alerts. Arriving about 5–10 minutes before a scheduled departure is a sensible general precaution, with more time for unfamiliar terminals or transfers.
