Route 44 Bus Services by City and Agency
Here are five major Route 44 services. Each includes the route corridor, useful passenger information and links to official schedules, fares and live-arrival tools.
Muni 44 O’Shaughnessy
San Francisco Muni Route 44 connects the Richmond District with Bayview/Hunters Point through neighborhoods including Inner Sunset, Forest Hill, Glen Park, Excelsior and Silver Avenue.
Critical service detail: overnight Owl trips do not serve the entire Richmond-to-Hunters Point daytime route. The Owl route operates between Hunters Point and Glen Park BART.
Frequency: SFMTA lists 9–12-minute typical weekday daytime intervals depending on the period, with late-night and Owl intervals longer.
King County Metro 44 — Ballard to UW
Seattle Route 44 serves Ballard, Fremont, Wallingford, the University District and UW Station. The route offers an important east–west connection across northern Seattle.
Important transfer: University District Station and UW Station provide connections to Link light rail, but use the correct direction and boarding bay.
Weather tip: King County publishes special snow routing and Emergency Snow Network guidance for Route 44.
CTA 44 Wallace/Racine
CTA Route 44 operates between the Halsted Orange Line station and Racine/87th Street, using corridors including Wallace and Racine on Chicago’s South Side.
2026 update: CTA added earlier Sunday/holiday morning Route 44 service beginning August 23, 2026.
CTA publishes separate first/last terminal service periods for northbound and southbound buses. Those periods are explained in the timing section below.
SEPTA 44 — Front-Market to Ardmore
SEPTA Route 44 runs between the Front/Market area in Philadelphia and Ardmore, serving Center City and portions of the western suburbs.
Major routing change: Route 44 no longer serves Gladwyne. Narberth service operates only during morning and evening rush periods.
Because older Route 44 schedules may still appear in search results, use the revised August 2026 PDF or current SEPTA live tools.
TriMet 44 — Capitol Hwy/N Rosa Parks
Portland Line 44 connects PCC Sylvania, Multnomah Village, Hillsdale, Downtown Portland, Union Station, Rose Quarter, PCC Cascade, University of Portland and St. Johns.
2026 change: TriMet shortened Line 44 to operate between PCC Sylvania and Downtown St. Johns. Some older references still describe service to Pier Park.
Campus boarding warning: some scheduled trips do not enter PCC Sylvania campus and use the stop outside the campus entrance instead.
Route 44 Bus Times and Running Schedules
Route 44 departure times depend on your transit agency, direction, stop and service day. The following sections provide confirmed examples or published service patterns, rather than mixing unrelated timetables.
Chicago CTA 44 — First and Last Bus

King County Metro 44 — Current Seattle Schedule
King County Metro’s official Route 44 schedule is effective August 29, 2026 through March 26, 2027. The scheduled service links Ballard, Wallingford, the University District and UW Station.

Scheduled time is the agency’s planned bus departure. Live arrival is a prediction based on available real-time vehicle information. Traffic, detours, breakdowns, weather and canceled trips can cause those predictions to change.
Use the transit agency’s official live-arrival service.
Make sure the number belongs to the correct city.
Check the destination sign and service pattern.
Use the correct stop name, stop ID or boarding bay.
Check the updated estimate just before you leave.
