Which Route 44 Bus Schedule Are You Looking For?

Route 44 does not have one nationwide timetable. Different operators use the same number for completely different services. Select the transit agency and city first.

San Francisco Muni 44 O’Shaughnessy

Richmond, Forest Hill, Glen Park, Hunters Point.

SF Route 44 →
Seattle King County Metro 44

Ballard, Wallingford, University District, UW.

Seattle Route 44 →
Chicago CTA 44 Wallace/Racine

Halsted Orange Line to Racine/87th.

Chicago Route 44 →
Philadelphia SEPTA 44

Front-Market, Center City, Ardmore.

SEPTA Route 44 →
Portland TriMet 44

Important for passengers: Always match your city, route destination, boarding stop, service day and official operator. A Route 44 schedule from another city will not help you catch your bus.

Major routing change: Route 44 no longer serves Gladwyne. Narberth service operates only during morning and evening rush periods.

Campus boarding warning: some scheduled trips do not enter PCC Sylvania campus and use the stop outside the campus entrance instead.

Another Route 44? If your bus is not listed above, identify the transit agency on the bus-stop sign. Search the agency’s official website using “44” plus the city and destination. Other cities may also operate a Route 44.

Route 44 Bus Times and Running Schedules

Route 44 departure times depend on your transit agency, direction, stop and service day. The following sections provide confirmed examples or published service patterns, rather than mixing unrelated timetables.

Chicago CTA 44 — First and Last Bus

CTA publishes the following approximate service spans from the origin terminal for each direction. These are not the times the bus reaches every intermediate stop.

Day Racine/87th → Halsted Orange Line Halsted Orange Line → Racine/87th
Monday–Friday 4:30 AM–9:40 PM 5:15 AM–10:25 PM
Saturday 8:00 AM–6:00 PM 8:50 AM–6:45 PM
Sunday 9:00 AM–6:00 PM 9:45 AM–6:45 PM
CTA 2026 Sunday service notice: CTA says earlier Sunday/holiday morning service began August 23, 2026. The span table is from the official route information available at review; always consult the latest timetable or Bus Tracker because posted service spans and actual selected-stop departures may differ.

TriMet 44 — Selected Weekday Departures to St. Johns

These selected trips are taken from TriMet’s current weekday Line 44 schedule after the 2026 route revision. They demonstrate the progression from PCC Sylvania through Downtown and Rose Quarter toward St. Johns.

PCC Sylvania Main Stop SW 6th & Washington Rose Quarter TC N Richmond & Syracuse Scheduled travel time

Source: TriMet Line 44 weekday schedule toward St. Johns. Travel times above are calculated from the listed first and final timepoints.

Short trips and campus exceptions: Not every scheduled Line 44 vehicle travels the whole route. A dash in TriMet’s timetable indicates no listed service at that timepoint for that particular trip. Trips marked X may use the stop outside PCC Sylvania campus at SW 49th & Hidalgo.

San Francisco Muni 44 — Service Frequency

SFMTA publishes Route 44 as a 24-hour service. These figures are typical scheduled intervals, in minutes, for the indicated periods.

Service period Weekdays Weekends

Important overnight exception: During approximately 1–5 AM, Muni 44 Owl service follows a shorter Glen Park BART–Hunters Point pattern. Do not assume a nighttime 44 reaches the Richmond District.

King County Metro 44 — Current Seattle Schedule

King County Metro’s official Route 44 schedule is effective August 29, 2026 through March 26, 2027. The scheduled service links Ballard, Wallingford, the University District and UW Station.

To UW Station Start from the Ballard side and choose the route direction toward University District and UW Station. Use the current official departure table for your stop.
To Ballard Start from UW Station or University District, then confirm the boarding bay and direction toward Wallingford, Fremont and Ballard.

Official selected-stop timepoints include 32nd Ave NW & NW 54th St, NW Market St & Ballard Ave NW, N 45th St & Stone Way N, University District Station and NE Pacific Place. Schedule times and stop coverage can change by trip.

SEPTA 44 — Philadelphia and Ardmore Timetable

SEPTA’s August 23, 2026 Route 44 revision changed both routing and frequency. Its published guide identifies service between Front-Market and Ardmore, no service to Gladwyne, and Narberth service restricted to morning/evening rush periods.

The route’s current standard is described as service every 60 minutes or less, with more frequent departures during some peak periods. Saturday and Sunday service also appears in the revised official schedule.

When using the PDF: Read the direction heading, the appropriate weekday/Saturday/Sunday section and the stop names together. A bus via Narberth may not be interchangeable with one traveling directly via Montgomery Avenue.

What Time Does the Route 44 Bus Start and Stop?

The first and last bus depend on the city, direction, stop and date. Here is the most useful summary.

Step-by-step passenger guide

How to Find and Ride the Correct Route 44 Bus

Follow these practical steps if you are unfamiliar with the route or boarding at a new stop.

Confirm the city and transit agency Identify Muni, King County Metro, CTA, SEPTA, TriMet or another operator. Do not rely on the route number alone.
Open the current official schedule Select the date and relevant weekday, Saturday, Sunday, holiday or special timetable.
Choose the correct direction Match the terminal or bus headsign. Look for shorter Owl service, route variants or special trips where applicable.
Check your precise stop Use the stop name, stop ID and official route map. The opposite-direction stop may be on the other side of the street.
Review the fare and payment method Prepare the correct fare card, supported bankcard, mobile wallet, ticket or exact cash.
Check service alerts and live arrivals Verify whether the bus is delayed, rerouted, running a short trip or affected by temporary stop closures.
Arrive before the listed departure A practical buffer is 5–10 minutes at an ordinary stop. Allow more time for an unfamiliar terminal or transfer.
Confirm the return journey Check the last trip in your return direction before starting a late-evening journey.
Accessible public transportation

Route 44 Accessibility and Reduced-Fare Information

Accessibility depends on both the vehicle and the stop. The agencies have different eligibility rules, fare programs and assistance options.

Accessible Vehicles Check whether the operator uses low-floor vehicles, wheelchair ramps or lifts, accessible boarding and mobility-device securement.
Accessible Stops A stop may be affected by construction, blocked sidewalks, missing curb space or a temporary relocation.
Reduced Fares Youth, seniors, riders with disabilities, low-income residents and other eligible groups may qualify for lower fares or free travel.
Paratransit Fixed-route Route 44 service is separate from ADA paratransit or specialized transport. Check the operator’s requirements.
Chicago note: CTA identifies all CTA buses as accessible. However, that does not guarantee that every temporary or permanent sidewalk boarding location is fully accessible during construction.
Before you travel

How to Check Route 44 Delays, Detours and Cancellations

Even a valid printed schedule does not guarantee service at the exact listed time. Transit agencies may temporarily change stops, travel patterns or service frequency.

Construction Roadwork may temporarily close a stop or alter the route through a neighborhood.
Traffic and Events Sports, festivals, parades, crashes and peak-hour congestion can delay service.
Weather Snow and severe weather may activate special routes or reduced operations, particularly in Seattle.
Short Turns Some buses may finish before the usual terminal. Check the destination sign and trip-specific timetable notes.

Check the operator’s alert source: SFMTA, King County Metro, CTA, SEPTA, or TriMet.

Live status disclaimer: This article provides verified route and schedule guidance but does not continuously monitor live buses. It cannot guarantee that a particular trip is operating normally at the moment you read it.
