Occt Bus Schedule: Routes, Times & Stops

Find the Right OCCT Route, Departure Time and Stop

OCCT means Off Campus College Transport, the student-run bus system serving the Binghamton University community. Fall 2026 service includes campus, downtown Binghamton, Johnson City, UClub, shopping and selected late-night routes.

The most important thing to know is that OCCT is free to ride with a valid Binghamton University ID. Use this guide to match the correct route, understand inbound/outbound terminology, check live ETA Transit information and avoid using an alternate or break schedule by mistake.

Quick answer

Which OCCT Schedule Should You Use?

For normal Fall 2026 classes, use the Fall 2026 Primary Schedule. OCCT also publishes alternate, interim, summer and special-weekend schedules, so the PDF at the top of an old search result may not be the schedule operating today.

Normal semester day Use the current Fall 2026 Primary Schedule or the route’s individual web page.
Break / holiday weekend Check whether OCCT has published an Alternate or reduced-service timetable.
Leaving soon Check the scheduled departure first, then use ETA Transit for live arrival information.
Important ETA rule: OCCT says ETA Transit shows arrival estimates, not necessarily the scheduled start of a route. At major route origins such as the Union, UDC or Mohawk, use OCCT’s published scheduled departure time first.

Times and approximate travel

How to Read OCCT Bus Times

OCCT route pages show scheduled departures and important timepoints. Times can differ significantly by route, direction and weekday versus weekend. The examples below come from Fall 2026 route pages and are intended to show how to interpret the timetable, not replace the live official schedule.

MS Main Street Official operating span is listed as approximately 7:10 AM–10:30 PM weekdays and 10:35 AM–10:30 PM weekends.
DS Downtown Southside Official operating span is listed as approximately 8:05 AM–10:30 PM weekdays and 10:15 AM–10:00 PM weekends.
UDC Downtown Center UDC is a weekday-only service. The official page lists operating hours around 7:15 AM–9:00 PM.

Example: UDC to Binghamton University

A typical listed UDC inbound trip takes about 15 minutes from UDC to BU.
1 UDC
2 Vestal Pkwy
3 Academic A
4 Campus
5 Union
6 Route change
↺ Next run
Approximate ride-time example: a listed UDC departure at 7:30 AM is scheduled to arrive at BU at 7:45 AM. Traffic, boarding, weather and operating conditions can change actual travel time.
Route-change warning: OCCT says buses often change to another route when they reach the final destination. Do not assume a bus displaying your route while approaching a terminus will continue on that same route.
Fare and ID

How Much Does an OCCT Bus Cost?

BU community fare $0 OCCT states that buses are free to ride for the Binghamton University community with a valid BU ID.
Bring your BU ID OCCT says a valid Binghamton University ID must be presented and scanned each time you board.
Guest policy OCCT permits one guest per BU ID. Tell the driver you have a guest when boarding; the ID holder is responsible for the guest.
Board faster: have your BU ID out before the bus reaches the stop so you can scan it immediately when entering through the front door.
OCCT terminology

Inbound, Outbound, Shuttle and Terminus Explained

Outbound OCCT defines outbound as a route leaving campus and traveling toward the University Downtown Center.
Inbound Inbound generally means service leaving the University Downtown Center and traveling back toward campus.
Shuttle A shuttle starts and ends on campus rather than following the standard downtown inbound/outbound pattern.
Terminus The final stop of a route or the location where the vehicle changes to another route.
Common mistake: if you are waiting downtown, make sure you are reading the inbound schedule. If you are leaving campus for downtown, use the outbound schedule.
ETA Transit

Scheduled Departure vs Live OCCT Arrival

OCCT uses ETA Transit for live bus tracking. However, OCCT specifically warns that ETA Transit shows arrival times and can be confusing at route starting locations because a vehicle may still be finishing its previous route.

1
Check schedule Start with the official scheduled departure for Union, UDC or another route origin.
2
Open ETA Transit Use the official OCCT live-tracking link.
3
Select route Choose WS, MS, DCL, UDC, DS, UC, IU, CS, VS, OC or the applicable route.
4
Confirm stop Make sure you are watching the correct direction and stop.
5
Recheck Refresh before leaving because buses can change routes at their terminus.
OCCT’s September 2026 ETA guidance: if your bus begins at a major starting location, rely on the scheduled start time. ETA may show the bus “arriving” while it is still completing the previous route and waiting for the system to update.

OCCT Service Alerts, Construction and Staffing Changes

OCCT posts current service alerts and semester announcements on its News & Info page. The current site also warns that staffing shortages can cause route frequencies to change without notice.

Construction Current OCCT notices say construction is affecting several routes. Open News & Info for route-specific changes.
Staffing OCCT warns that route frequency can change because of staffing shortages.
Reduced schedules Holiday and university-calendar weekends can use an Alternate reduced schedule instead of normal Fall service.
Same-day rule: do not assume the Primary Schedule is operating normally during a holiday, severe weather event or announced service reduction. Check News & Info before leaving.

When OCCT does not fit the trip

BC Transit Can Be an Alternative

OCCT specifically recommends BC Transit when riders need service outside OCCT coverage or at times when certain OCCT routes are not running.

Oakdale earlier in the day BC Transit can provide earlier shopping service before OCCT’s Oakdale Commons route begins.
Weekend gaps BC Transit may provide alternatives when UDC, IU or other OCCT services are not operating.
Outside OCCT coverage Use BC Transit for destinations not directly served by the student-run OCCT network.
