Example St. Louis MetroBus First Trips & Travel Times

These examples show why a citywide page cannot provide one universal first bus, last bus or travel time. Each route has its own timetable.

Route Direction / service day Early listed trip Scheduled route span example
95 Kingshighway Weekday northbound 4:23 AM from Gravois-Hampton Transit Center 4:23 AM → 5:17 AM North Broadway Transit Center, about 54 minutes scheduled.
19 St. Louis Ave Weekday eastbound 4:21 AM from Rock Road Transit Center 4:21 AM → 5:03 AM Civic Center Transit Center, about 42 minutes scheduled.
57 Manchester Weekday eastbound 5:12 AM partial trip from West County Mall A full 5:28 AM Wildwood trip reaches Maplewood Transit Center at 6:20 AM, about 52 minutes.
These are schedule examples, not live predictions. Road traffic, construction, passenger boarding, weather and detours can make the actual trip shorter or longer.

Current Rider Alerts to Check Before Traveling

Metro’s route directory currently displays Rider Alert markers on multiple routes. An alert can mean a temporary detour, stop change, construction reroute or other operating notice; it does not always mean the route is suspended.

#70 Grand The current route page shows a northbound reroute beginning September 22, 2026, operating as needed until further notice.
Oct. 3–4 MetroLink disruption Metro currently warns of no weekend MetroLink service between Forest Park and Grand stations on October 3 and 4.
Bus-to-rail transfers If your MetroBus trip connects to MetroLink, check the rail alert as well as the bus route alert before leaving.

  • Check Transit app for last-minute bay or routing changes.

Practical MetroBus Tips That Save Time

Route numbers repeat across the river Missouri Route 1 Gold is different from Illinois Route 1 Main Street-State Street. Check the state and route name.
Do not use an old #5 Green schedule Missouri Route 5 Green ended September 14, 2026.
Save the stop ID A stop ID is more precise than searching only by street name and makes phone-based live arrivals much easier.
Event detours matter Routes serving Grand, downtown and entertainment areas can have event-related reroutes.
Transfer planning If connecting to MetroLink, check both services because a bus may operate normally while the rail connection is disrupted.
Leave a buffer Arrive at least five minutes early and allow additional time for transfers, bad weather or unfamiliar transit centers.
