Ride UB Stampede, Campus Shuttles and Live Trackers Without Missing the Right Bus

The UB bus schedule is not one route. University at Buffalo operates Stampede buses between North and South campuses, express lines, North Campus shuttles, the Blue Line to Downtown Campus, shopping shuttles, Student Health transportation and a late-night Safety Shuttle.

This guide separates the services, explains the current Summer 2026 timetable and the Fall 2026 schedule beginning August 24, shows major stops, live tracking tools, shopping times, accessibility details and the official South Campus route map.

Which UB Bus Schedule Applies Right Now?

Now: Summer Session 2026

The official Summer Session schedule has been effective since May 26, 2026. As of August 12, it remains the schedule to use for current trips.

  • Stampede weekday service: 6:00 a.m.–11:10 p.m.
  • Popular weekday Stampede stops: generally every 20 minutes.
  • Stampede weekends: 6:30 a.m.–11:00 p.m.
  • Popular weekend Stampede stops: generally every 30 minutes.

Current construction warning: UB’s Summer Session timetable states that there are no pickups at Lee Loop because of construction and directs southbound riders to board at Flint Loop. Always recheck the official schedule before relying on this temporary arrangement.
Current advisory: UB lists the Goodyear bus stop as temporarily relocated through August 17, 2026. Check the current service advisory before walking to the normal stop.

Choose the Correct UB Bus or Shuttle Before Looking at Times

North Campus ↔ South Campus Start with the UB Stampede. During Fall Semester, the Yellow Line adds a North–South express option during weekday mornings.
Travel Around North Campus Use the North Campus Shuttle for residence areas, academic spine stops, parking connections and other North Campus destinations.
South Campus ↔ Downtown Use the Blue Line for the South Campus, Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and Downtown Campus corridor.
Walmart, Wegmans, Tops or Target Use a Shopping Shuttle. The operating day and starting campus matter because North, South and apartment service are not identical.
Lee Loop ↔ Ellicott During Fall Semester, the Stampede Red Line is the Lee–Ellicott Express.
Student Health Appointment Summer 2026 Student Health service is on demand rather than a normal fixed route.

Main campus bus

UB Stampede — All Stops

The Stampede is the primary inter-campus bus service connecting major North and South Campus stops.

Typical timetable locations include Ellicott, Governors, Hadley, Flint Loop, Service Center, Maynard, Goodyear and Main Circle.

Stampede Yellow Line

The Yellow Line is the North–South Express. The published Fall 2026 weekday schedule operates from 7:05 a.m. to 11:58 a.m.

Published timepoints include Main Circle, Maynard, Hartford, Service Center Road, Flint Loop, Service Center and Goodyear.

North Campus express

Stampede Red Line

The Red Line is the Lee Loop–Ellicott Express. Fall 2026 service is published for weekdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:16 p.m.

Use it when your trip is specifically between the Lee Loop and Ellicott corridor rather than taking the full all-stops campus route.

North Campus Shuttle

The shuttle connects residence areas, parking, academic buildings and campus-spine destinations.

Summer weekday service is published from 6:30 a.m. to 12:23 a.m.; weekend service is 8:00 a.m. to 4:56 p.m.

UB publishes separate North Campus, apartment and South Campus shopping schedules serving stores such as Walmart, Wegmans, Tops and Target.

Do not assume the same shopping timetable applies to every residence area.

On-demand evening ride

Safety Shuttle

The Safety Shuttle operates from South Campus to destinations within a 1.5-mile radius of Main Circle during Fall and Spring semesters.

It is on-demand service, not a normal scheduled bus route.

Student Health Shuttle

During Summer 2026, Student Health transportation is on demand Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

The published final day of that summer on-demand service is Wednesday, August 19.

Regional public transit

NFTA-Metro Is Different

UB Stampede and shuttle services are campus transportation. For broader Buffalo-Niagara public-transit trips, use NFTA-Metro schedules and fare rules.

Do not apply an NFTA bus timetable to a UB Stampede stop merely because both operate in Buffalo.

Summer Blue Line Hourly Pattern

For the Summer Session, Main/Bailey departures are published at 6:30 a.m., 7:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m. and then hourly through 7:30 p.m. The same trip reaches Goodyear about two minutes later and Main Circle about five minutes after the Main/Bailey departure.

Do not carry this Summer pattern into Fall automatically. UB had not yet published Fall shuttle schedules when this guide was verified on August 12, 2026.

UB Shopping Shuttle Schedule

Shopping service is one of the easiest UB schedules to misunderstand because the North Campus, apartment and South Campus services use different pickup patterns.

Summer North + Apartments Sat 1:30–9:37 Serves campus/apartment pickup points and Walmart, Wegmans, Tops and Target.

Major retail stops generally show 30-minute intervals during operating windows.

Summer South Campus Sat 2:00–8:15 Goodyear → Main Circle → Walmart → Wegmans → Tops → Target.

Published Goodyear departures: 2:00, 3:00, 4:00, 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30.

Fall North Campus Sat 1:17–9:47 Effective Saturday, August 29, 2026.

Return-trip mistake to avoid: check the last pickup from the store before shopping. A shuttle’s overall service window does not mean every retail stop receives service until the final minute.

The Summer Session Student Health shuttle is on-demand Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The published last day of Summer on-demand service is Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Call Parking and Transportation Services at 716-645-3943 to request the ride.
4:30 p.m.–5:15 p.m. UB states that calls are directed to the driver’s cell phone at 716-289-0285.
Medical appointment rule: do not plan the last possible shuttle. Request service early enough to handle vehicle availability, traffic and clinic check-in.

The Safety Shuttle is an on-demand service for students, faculty and staff traveling from South Campus to destinations within a 1.5-mile radius of Main Circle.

Wheelchair Access, Bikes and Accessible Shuttle Planning

Stampede accessibility UB states that all Stampede buses are wheelchair accessible.
Campus shuttle lifts UB states that most campus shuttles have a wheelchair lift.
Need a lift-equipped shuttle? Call Parking and Transportation Services at 716-645-3943 to check availability or arrange a specific time and place.
At the stop UB says an operator can call for an accessible shuttle when lift access is needed.
Bicycle racks UB’s Transportation Fee information states that each bus has a bicycle rack equipped for three bicycles.
Temporary stop accessibility Construction can change the boarding surface or pickup point. Check advisories when an accessible stop has been relocated.
Accessible vehicle ≠ accessible temporary stop. If construction makes the substitute pickup location difficult to use, contact UB before traveling.

How to Use the UB Bus Schedule Without Missing Class

Check the schedule period first. Summer, Fall, Spring, exams, commencement and university breaks can use different transportation patterns.
Decide whether you need Stampede or a shuttle. Do not search one giant timetable for a service that belongs to another route family.
Choose the stop, not only the campus. “North Campus” contains several major stops and residence areas.
Read “no pickup” literally. A bus passing the location does not mean passengers can board there.
Open Passio GO before walking outside. Verify that the route is active and see whether a vehicle is approaching.
Check service advisories. Temporary stop relocations and construction can override normal boarding habits.
Take an earlier bus for a hard deadline. Exams, lab sessions, clinical appointments and work shifts are poor situations for relying on the final possible connection.

Which UB Service Fits Common Campus Trips?

Ellicott → South Campus Start with Stampede. During the Fall morning period, compare the Yellow Line express if your stop pattern fits.
Lee Loop → Ellicott During Fall weekday operation, check the Red Line express timetable.
South Campus → Jacobs School Use the Blue Line and confirm current shuttle timing before leaving Main/Bailey, Goodyear, Main Circle or Parker.
Residence → Target Match your residence area to the correct North, apartment or South Campus shopping schedule.
South Campus → Home Late at Night During Fall or Spring, check whether your destination falls within the Safety Shuttle’s 1.5-mile service area.
Student Health Appointment During the current Summer service period, request the on-demand Student Health shuttle instead of waiting for a fixed-route bus.

UB Bus Problems and What to Do

The bus is not showing in Passio GO Confirm whether you selected the UB Stampede or UB Shuttle agency view. Then verify that the service operates during the current schedule period.
The timetable and tracker disagree The timetable is scheduled service; the tracker reflects reported vehicle movement. Check advisories for cancellations or detours.
You are waiting at Lee Loop The current Summer schedule states there are no pickups there during construction and directs southbound riders to Flint Loop.
Your normal Goodyear stop looks different UB currently lists a temporary Goodyear stop relocation through August 17. Check the latest advisory.
Your Fall shuttle time is missing UB had not published Fall shuttle schedules as of the verification date. Do not reuse a Summer Blue Line time as a substitute.
You missed the Shopping Shuttle Check the next exact pickup rather than assuming continuous service. Some routes have long gaps or stop serving the retail portion before the shuttle finishes campus returns.
You need wheelchair lift access Call 716-645-3943 to confirm an accessible shuttle or make arrangements.
