Route 93 Bus Schedule: When Does It Start and Stop?

Service hours and first/last departures are different for each Route 93. The following information comes from the relevant agencies’ timetables and route pages.

Route 93 Schedule information Weekend availability Important distinction
CTA Chicago Logan Square to Davis terminal: 4:35 AM–8:35 PM weekdays. Both Saturday and Sunday service. Some earlier/later journeys serve only portions of the route.
SEPTA Pennsylvania Weekday timetable includes departures beginning at 5:00 AM from Norristown Transit Center. Saturday and Sunday tables published. Weekday-only deviations, trip codes and pickup restrictions apply.
MBTA Boston Current route timetable varies by direction and scheduled trip. Use MBTA’s Saturday or Sunday date selector. Some trips show Downtown while others end at Haymarket.
PRT Pittsburgh Published weekday, Saturday and Sunday/holiday tables. Saturday and Sunday service. Frequency and intermediate stop times change across the day.
TfL London Route 93 provides 24-hour service. Daily operation. Use stop-specific live arrivals rather than assuming a universal headway.
First bus does not mean first arrival at every stop CTA explicitly states that published service spans refer to departures from a terminal of origin. Intermediate stops are reached later. The same practical distinction applies when reading the other agencies’ timepoint tables.

Saturday and Sunday Service

Route 93 does operate on weekends, but not every weekday deviation or intermediate destination has the same service pattern.

Saturday

The timetable publishes separate Saturday departures between Norristown and Pottstown.

Check the first and last trip in your direction, as well as any omitted timepoints marked by a dash.

Sunday and Holidays

The official PDF contains a Sunday schedule. SEPTA also lists certain public holidays as using Sunday service.

Trips may differ from weekday service at stops near Montgomery County facilities.

Important P, H and Q Schedule Codes

P — Pickup/Drop-off Zone

Between Pottstown High Street and Rupert Road, most local service is handled by Pottstown Area Rapid Transit (PART).

SEPTA Route 93 generally picks up passengers there on trips toward Norristown and drops off passengers on trips toward Pottstown.

H — High / York Streets

The trip begins or ends at the published High and York Streets point rather than operating every standard timepoint.

Q — Special Stop

The timetable identifies a stop at the Montgomery County Community College West Campus for trips marked with the applicable Q note.

Most important SEPTA Route 93 restriction A bus can pass through Pottstown without allowing a local trip between every stop in the High Street/Rupert Road zone. Read the timetable’s pickup and discharge notes before using it for a short local journey.

Major Transfers and Destinations

Norristown Transit Center

Connections to other SEPTA bus routes and the Manayunk/Norristown Regional Rail Line.

Collegeville

Pottstown

This represents about an 18-minute scheduled trip, but it is only one example. Journeys via other operating patterns can take longer.

Some timetable periods may have wider gaps than weekday service.

Sunday / Holiday

PRT provides a separate Sunday/holiday table. Check the actual departure rather than assuming Saturday times apply.

Important Oakland Stops

PRT’s timetable gives stop details around Oakland, including:

Toward Hazelwood

North Craig Street at Fifth Avenue, Fifth Avenue intersections through Oakland, Craft Avenue and Boulevard of the Allies.

Toward Lawrenceville

Boulevard of the Allies near Halket Street, Forbes Avenue intersections and North Craig Street connections.

Stop changes and construction PRT has previously revised routing in the Oakland corridor in connection with bridge and street construction. Always use the current PRT stop map and TrueTime rather than relying solely on a saved timetable image.

Three Important Stop Rules

1. Direction matters

Northbound, southbound, inbound, outbound or destination names determine which stop you need.

2. Stop IDs matter

One intersection may have different stop IDs for each direction or different bus routes.

3. Terminal bays matter

Stations and transit centers can have multiple bus bays. Check the agency’s current bay assignment.

How to read a schedule

Scheduled Departures, Timepoints and Short Trips Explained

A printed bus timetable usually lists major timepoints, not every bus stop. Read across one row to follow a single bus journey from origin to destination.

Normal through trip All listed timepoints have times

If every major stop has a time, the bus is scheduled to continue through those points, subject to any lettered notes.

AOrigin
BTimepoint
CTerminal
Shortened or restricted trip A dash or footnote changes the journey

If later timepoints are blank, the bus may terminate early or not serve those stops. A letter such as P, H or Q may add another rule.

AOrigin
BTrip ends
–No service
Best interpretation method Read the timetable’s heading, day of service, direction, trip row and footnotes. Then use the official stop-level tracker for the exact stop where you plan to board.

Route 93 Detours, Closed Stops and Schedule Changes

Route 93 may be operating on a temporary street pattern even when the published timetable still lists the normal stop sequence.

Construction detours

Street closures, bridge construction or road maintenance can temporarily change the route.

Temporary stop changes

The normal boarding stop may move to a nearby intersection or replacement stop.

Schedule updates

Transit agencies can change departure times or route patterns at published service-change dates.

Missing predictions

A live tracker may lose GPS information or omit a detoured vehicle even while it remains in service.

Specific CTA Route 93 alert CTA’s Route 93 page lists a temporary reroute beginning June 24, 2026, routing buses via Kedzie, Bryn Mawr and California. Because the posted end date is unspecified, check the current agency notice before relying on a normal stop location.
PRT tracker limitation Pittsburgh Regional Transit explains that detoured vehicles may disappear from TrueTime until they return to normal routing. Vehicles more than 30 minutes away may not display a stop-arrival prediction.
Accessibility and reduced fares

Route 93 Accessibility Information

Accessibility depends on the bus, station, stop and any temporary construction conditions. Confirm the details for your specific service.

Accessible vehicles

CTA states that all its buses are accessible. Check each other operator’s accessibility information for vehicle equipment and boarding assistance.

Accessible bus stops

A route may operate accessible vehicles even if a particular curb, sidewalk or temporary stop is difficult to use.

Reduced fares

Senior, youth, disability and income-based programs differ by city. Eligibility may require an approved card or documentation.

Paratransit services

ADA or other eligibility-based paratransit is separate from regular Route 93 service and may require an application.

Before boarding with mobility needs Confirm the correct accessible stop, curb condition, vehicle features and any temporary relocation with the operating agency.

3

Troubleshooting

What If Route 93 Is Late, Missing or Going the Wrong Way?

Problem Possible cause Action to take
No Route 93 appears Wrong transit agency, route filter or service date. Confirm the city and search the official operator’s route directory.
Bus is missing on tracker GPS data unavailable, detour or scheduled trip not yet started. Read the static timetable and current alerts together.
Bus goes the wrong direction Opposite terminal, loop or short-turn. Match the headsign with the timetable’s destination.
The bus passes your stop Drop-off-only restriction, flag-stop rule or relocated stop. Read the agency’s boarding policy and route notes.
The fare is different Different agency, cash fare or eligibility category. Use the operating agency’s current official fare information.
Return bus cannot be found Different terminal, stop side or reduced evening service. Search the exact return-direction timetable and stop.
Before leaving

Route 93 Boarding Checklist

  • Confirm your city and transit agency.
  • Open the operator’s official Route 93 page.
  • Check the timetable effective date.
  • Select the correct weekday or weekend schedule.
  • Confirm your destination sign.
  • Find your exact boarding stop or station bay.
  • Read the first and last trip for your direction.
  • Check for shortened or restricted journeys.
  • Review the current ticket price.
  • Prepare the accepted fare medium.
  • Check transfer conditions.
  • Review active detours or stop closures.
  • Check the live arrival prediction.
