Quick answer

How Do I Find Today’s GO Bus Schedule?

Use the official GO Transit Trip Planner. Enter where you are boarding and where you need to go, choose your travel date and time, then select the Bus Only filter if you want bus journeys rather than trains.

1 From Enter your departure station, terminal or bus stop.
2 To Enter your destination.
3 Date Choose the correct day and local time.
4 Bus Only Use the bus filter when appropriate.
5 Confirm Check departure, arrival, fare and stop.
Most important schedule rule GO Bus does not have one universal first or last bus time. Route 16, Route 25, Route 40 and Route 88 serve different areas and have different service patterns. Always identify your route and boarding stop first.

GO Transit also maintains a route-number-based PDF timetable directory. PDFs are useful for understanding full corridors, but the operator advises using the online planner for the most current departures.

GO Bus Routes: Numbers, Corridors and Destinations

GO Transit uses bus routes to connect regional travel corridors, rail stations, universities, airports and transit terminals. Some timetable PDFs group several routes together because they serve the same larger corridor.

The following routes and route groups appear in the official GO Transit schedule directory. Use the route number to find its timetable, then confirm your destination because a route group can contain different patterns or branches.

Route Official corridor Useful for Check before riding
12 Niagara Falls / Toronto Niagara-area regional travel and rail connections. Bus versus train portions and the selected itinerary.
15 Brantford / Burlington Brantford and Burlington connections. Terminal and operating day.
16 Hamilton / Toronto Express Hamilton GO Centre to Union Station Bus Terminal. Direction and terminal departure.
17 Waterloo / Hamilton Waterloo–Hamilton regional connections. Selected trip and transfer options.
21 Milton Milton corridor bus and train connections. Trip branch and station served.
25 Waterloo / Mississauga University of Waterloo area and Mississauga travel. Exact campus/terminal stop and trip pattern.
27 Milton / North York Milton and North York connections. Correct terminal and direction.
29 Guelph / Mississauga Guelph and Mississauga regional travel. Timepoints and weekend service.
30/31/33 Kitchener Kitchener corridor buses and rail connections. Route number within the grouped schedule.
36 Brampton / North York Brampton regional trips. Destination and stop selection.
37 Orangeville / Brampton Orangeville and Brampton connections. Terminal and service-day exceptions.
40 Hamilton / Richmond Hill Pearson Express Pearson Airport Terminal 1 and regional transfers. 40, 40C, 40M and other displayed variants.
41/47/48 Hamilton / Pickering Regional highway bus connections. Specific route and destination sign.
52/54/56 Oshawa / Oakville East–west regional trips. Exact route variation and stop served.
65/68 Barrie Barrie and surrounding regional connections. Route and train connection pattern.
88 Peterborough / Oshawa Peterborough and Oshawa travel. Exact departure and return trip.
92 Oshawa / Yorkdale Oshawa and Yorkdale regional connections. Correct boarding platform.
94 Pickering / Mississauga Cross-region travel. Intermediate stops and service days.
96 Oshawa / Finch Express Oshawa and North York connections. Express stops and destination.
Route directory versus operating schedule A route appearing in the PDF directory does not prove that every branch runs every day. Not all trips necessarily serve every terminal or intermediate stop. Select the actual trip before relying on its service pattern.

How to Open a Specific Route PDF

  1. Visit the GO Transit PDF schedule directory.
  2. Find your route number in the left-hand column.
  3. Open the linked corridor PDF.
  4. Read the effective date printed in the timetable.
  5. Find your direction and travel day.
  6. Match your boarding stop to the correct column.
  7. Read across the same trip row to your destination.
  8. Check the current online planner before traveling.

Bus times and trip examples

GO Bus Timetables: First Bus, Last Bus and Travel Time

A network-wide GO Bus article cannot responsibly give one first or last bus time. Those details depend on the route, weekday or weekend schedule, direction, terminal, branch and selected stop.

The official online Trip Planner is the primary source for current departures. GO’s downloadable PDFs are useful for comparing the structure of different routes, but the agency warns that a PDF may not be the most recent schedule.

Route 16 — Hamilton to Toronto Express Timetable Example

The agency’s Route 16 PDF dated April 25, 2026 illustrates how Hamilton GO Centre departures connect to Union Station Bus Terminal. The following examples are from that dated document, not confirmed November 2026 departure times.

Published example Hamilton GO Centre King St W / Dundurn St N Union Station Bus Terminal Scheduled duration

How to Read the GO Bus Timetable

Route number 16

Match the number and any suffix with the bus you intend to board.

Day M–F

Check weekday, Saturday, Sunday or holiday service separately.

Timepoint T

Use the stop heading to find where the listed time applies.

Trip row →

Follow one row across, rather than mixing two separate bus trips.

Understanding a dash or missing stop Some GO PDFs use a symbol to indicate that a particular bus does not serve the listed stop. A route may be scheduled to pass through a corridor but not stop at every station. Read the legend and trip notes before choosing a departure.

Approximate Time to Reach the Bus Stop

As practical guidance, aim to reach a regular street stop about 5–10 minutes before the expected bus. Allow more time at unfamiliar terminals, airports, large stations and important transfers, particularly if you need accessible boarding or must find the correct platform.

Traffic on the 401, 403, 407 and other regional highways may influence actual journey duration. A departure shown in a timetable is not a promise of arrival at a fixed minute.

Pearson Airport service

GO Bus Route 40: Pearson Airport, Hamilton and Richmond Hill

Route 40 is one of the most useful GO Bus services for Pearson Airport passengers. GO Transit’s official schedule identifies the Hamilton/Richmond Hill Pearson Express corridor, with Pearson Airport Terminal 1, Square One, Renforth Transitway Station and regional connections along the route.

Schematic route-corridor illustration, not the complete stop list. Some Route 40 trips or variants serve different portions of the corridor.

Hamilton GO Centre A major starting or ending point for Hamilton-area regional travel.
Pearson Airport Terminal 1 The terminal identified in the GO Route 40 schedule. Confirm the current bus-level boarding location.
Richmond Hill / Highway 407 Regional connections may be available on selected Route 40 trips or branches.

GO Bus Route 40 vs Route 16

Route 40 is the Pearson Airport-related corridor. Route 16 is the Hamilton–Toronto Express corridor serving Union Station Bus Terminal. Do not use Route 16 expecting a direct Pearson Airport Terminal 1 stop.

How to Find the Pearson Airport GO Bus

  1. Open the official GO Transit Trip Planner.
  2. Enter your origin, such as Hamilton GO Centre or Square One.
  3. Select Pearson Airport Terminal 1 as the destination.
  4. Choose your exact travel date and time.
  5. Check whether Route 40 or another itinerary is recommended.
  6. Read the departure terminal and stop details.
  7. Confirm the boarding level and location shown in the official station/stop information.
  8. Check live arrivals and allow additional time for airport check-in.
Airport terminal tip Toronto Pearson Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 are separate terminals. If your flight uses Terminal 3, confirm the airport’s current inter-terminal transfer instructions rather than assuming that Route 40 drops passengers at the airline check-in door.

The official Route 40 PDF dated April 25, 2026 shows weekday and weekend tables and route variants including 40, 40C and 40M. Use it to understand the route patterns, then check the live planner for the current trip.

Ticket prices and discounts

How Much Is a GO Bus Ticket?

GO Bus fares are generally based on the distance between your boarding and destination points, together with your fare category and payment method. There is no single standard adult fare for every GO Bus trip.

Standard adult fare

Distance-based

Enter your exact origin and destination for the price.
Children 12 and under

Free

GO states that children aged 12 and under travel free without needing a ticket.
One-Day Weekend Pass

$10 CAD

Unlimited eligible GO travel for the selected weekend or statutory holiday day.
Adult PRESTO payment

Discounted

GO advertises approximately 15% savings compared with the regular adult fare.

Additional Fare Categories

Adult PRESTO 15.7% off
Age 13–19 40% off
Senior 65+ 55% off
Post-secondary 40% off

These bars show the portion of the standard adult fare remaining after the listed discount, not an individual journey price. Youth and post-secondary discounts require applicable PRESTO fare settings and eligibility. Other payment methods may have different discount conditions.

How to Find the Exact GO Bus Fare

  1. Open the GO Trip Planner and fare calculator.
  2. Enter your exact boarding location.
  3. Enter the destination stop.
  4. Choose your travel date and time.
  5. Select the passenger type, such as adult or senior.
  6. Review the displayed trip fare and payment options.
  7. Check whether a pass or a qualifying transfer would be cheaper.
Fare-saving detail A $10 weekend pass is not the everyday single-ride fare. A short GO Bus ride may cost less than a pass, while several weekend trips could make the pass more attractive. Compare the actual total before buying.

Payment micro-guide

How to Pay on a GO Bus With PRESTO or Contactless

GO Transit accepts physical PRESTO cards, supported PRESTO mobile-wallet payment, contactless credit/debit cards and eligible tickets or passes. The most important payment difference from many local bus systems is that GO passengers generally need to tap on and tap off.

1 Board Find the PRESTO reader.
2 Tap on Use one eligible card or wallet.
3 Travel Ride to your destination.
4 Tap off Use the same payment method.
5 Verify Check the trip charge.
Forgetting to tap off can cost more. GO may apply a missed-tap-off or underpayment adjustment when the system cannot identify where you ended your trip. Do not tap with a different card or different wallet device when exiting.

What Changed With PRESTO in 2026?

GO Transit states that PRESTO’s updated transaction system took effect on April 13, 2026, supporting instant loads and faster transaction updates.

The agency also explains that, starting March 2, 2026, a negative GO balance can prevent further travel with that PRESTO card until it is reloaded and the outstanding balance is cleared.

Can I Set a Default Trip?

A default trip is primarily a GO train payment convenience for frequent travel between the same stations. Do not assume that setting a train default trip removes the tap-off requirement on a GO Bus. Onboard GO Bus payment instructions continue to require tapping on and off.

Read the official GO Bus PRESTO reader instructions and manage your PRESTO payment setup.

Connections and Ontario One Fare

GO Bus Transfers: TTC, MiWay, Brampton Transit and More

Many passengers use GO Bus for only part of a longer journey. GO Transit connects with TTC, MiWay, Brampton Transit, York Region Transit and other local agencies. Depending on the transit system and fare method, an eligible transfer may be included or discounted.

GO Transit Three-Hour Travel Window

GO states that passengers have a three-hour window to complete eligible one-way trips and receive applicable transfer credit between GO buses, trains and participating transit agencies.

GO Bus → GO Bus Eligible transfer credits are calculated within the GO travel window using the applicable payment method.
GO Bus → GO Train Tap on and off the bus, then tap on and off the train as required for accurate fare calculation.
GO → Local Transit Ontario One Fare and local partner arrangements may reduce the second fare when requirements are met.
One Fare payment limitation GO Transit explicitly states that GO e-tickets do not qualify for Ontario One Fare. Use a supported PRESTO or eligible contactless method, tapping consistently with the same payment method, when relying on an eligible One Fare connection.

Connecting at Toronto Union Station

Passengers arriving at Union Station Bus Terminal may need a TTC bus, subway or streetcar for their last few kilometres. For a destination near Queens Quay East, Commissioners Street or the Port Lands, our TTC Route 114 Queens Quay East schedule and Union Station connection guide explains the local bus serving the waterfront area.

Connecting Toward Etobicoke and Kipling

If your onward journey is near The East Mall, Burnhamthorpe Road or Kipling Station, use the TTC network for the local leg. Our Route 111 East Mall timetable and Kipling Station boarding guide covers the Toronto TTC service. Check the exact transfer path recommended by your itinerary.

Other Toronto Connections

For trips toward Vaughan Road, Oakwood Avenue, St Clair West or Cedarvale, see the Toronto section of our TTC Route 90 Vaughan bus times and stop guide. This is a separate TTC local service, not GO Bus Route 90, so use TTC directions and fare information for that part of the journey.

To verify participating agencies and payment conditions, open the GO Transit local partners and Ontario One Fare page.

Stops, terminals and platforms

GO Bus Stations and Stops: Where to Board

GO Bus boarding locations include major terminals, station bus loops, park-and-rides, transitway stations, university stops and roadside stops. A large terminal may have several platforms, and different directions of the same route may use different stops.

Union Station Bus Terminal A central Toronto regional-bus terminal. Do not assume every GO Bus route serves Union Station; check your itinerary.
Square One Major Mississauga bus terminal area used by regional services including Route 40 and Waterloo/Mississauga corridors.
Highway 407 Bus Terminal Important highway bus connection near the TTC subway. Check platform and direction carefully.
Hamilton GO Centre Major regional travel point with services including the Hamilton/Toronto Express corridor.
Oshawa Connection area for regional routes toward Peterborough, Yorkdale, Finch and other corridors.
University / Campus Stops Some GO routes serve university or college locations. Confirm the campus-side stop and service-day pattern.
A terminal name is not enough. Find the precise platform, bay or stop ID in the official trip details. Signs at the terminal and current service notices take priority over a saved screenshot.

How to Confirm the Correct Boarding Platform

  1. Open your journey in the official GO Trip Planner.
  2. Read the route number and destination.
  3. Open the listed departure stop or terminal information.
  4. Find the platform or stop ID where shown.
  5. Check terminal departure screens after arriving.
  6. Look for temporary platform-change signs.
  7. Match the destination sign on the actual bus before boarding.
Accessibility and disability support

Are GO Buses Wheelchair Accessible?

GO Transit states that all GO Bus routes are accessible for passengers using wheeled mobility aids, but not every bus stop is accessible. This difference is important when planning a trip with a wheelchair, scooter, walker or other mobility support.

Accessible Vehicles GO buses have accessibility features such as kneeling capability, lifts or ramps, handrails, priority seating and mobility-aid securement areas.
Accessible Stops Check curb access, boarding surfaces, pedestrian routes, elevators and any construction or winter-weather disruption.
Support Persons A qualifying support person may travel without paying a separate fare when the agency’s documentation and eligibility rules are met.

Mobility-Aid Capacity and Boarding

GO states that both its highway buses and double-decker buses accommodate up to two mobility aids. Vehicle dimensions and equipment differ between bus models. Drivers are responsible for securing wheelchairs or scooters on board as required.

If you use a mobility scooter, the agency’s accessibility instructions require transferring to a suitable bus seat during travel rather than remaining seated on the scooter.

Requesting Station Accessibility Assistance

GO asks passengers who need advance station assistance to make requests at least 48 hours before travel, where possible, so staff arrangements can be reviewed. Confirm availability before purchasing a ticket when the requested help is essential.

  1. Open the official GO accessibility assistance page.
  2. Review which services staff can provide.
  3. Identify the station, travel time and requested assistance.
  4. Contact GO Customer Care before the trip.
  5. Confirm whether the station is staffed and accessible.
  6. Check the bus stop’s accessibility separately.

See GO Bus vehicle and stop accessibility and request accessible station assistance.

Current service and schedule changes

GO Bus Delays, Cancellations, Detours and Schedule Updates

GO Bus service can be affected by highway traffic, major construction, weather, events, bus availability, station changes and route revisions. A timetable alone does not confirm that a trip is operating normally right now.

Highway Delays Highway 401, 403, 407 and other regional road conditions can affect bus running times.
Bus Detours Construction may change the road path or temporary stop location.
Special Events Stadium events, festivals and major gatherings may alter traffic or boarding arrangements.
Weather Snow, ice and poor road conditions may increase travel time or trigger schedule changes.

How to Check GO Bus Service Updates

  1. Open GO Transit Service Updates.
  2. Select the Bus service filter where available.
  3. Review notices affecting your route or stop.
  4. Read the date, direction and duration of any disruption.
  5. Check for a replacement stop, detour or alternative trip.
  6. Compare the notice with the current Trip Planner.

Receive Alerts for a Regular Commute

GO’s On the GO service allows passengers to configure alerts for selected trips, routes and times. The service supports notifications about delays, cancellations and service changes.

Set up official GO bus email or text notifications. Open the page, sign in or create an account, then choose the route and travel periods you want to monitor.

Same-day status limitation GO Transit’s network status is loaded dynamically and can change during the day. This article does not claim that every GO Bus route is currently on time or free from disruptions.
Bikes, luggage and travel comfort

Can You Bring a Bicycle or Luggage on a GO Bus?

GO Bus is designed for regional travel, but capacity and safety rules still matter, particularly for airport passengers and riders carrying bicycles.

Bike Rack Capacity GO’s front-mounted bus bike racks accommodate a maximum of two bicycles, subject to the operator’s bike and e-bike rules.
Bicycle Weight The published maximum rack weight is 25 kg per bicycle. Permitted e-bikes must meet the applicable rules, including battery removal.
Luggage Some GO buses provide luggage compartments or onboard storage. Keep bags clear of accessible areas, aisles and exits.

GO states that passengers must load their own bicycles, remove loose accessories and carry a permitted e-bike battery on board separately. Folded bicycles may be carried according to the published folding-bike policy.

Review GO Transit’s current bicycle policy.

GO Bus Schedule Problems and What to Do

Problem What to do
No bus appears in the planner. Check the selected date, origin, destination and Bus Only filter. Try the closest official station name.
PDF times differ from the online planner. Read the PDF’s effective date. Prefer the current date-specific planner and service notices.
A bus number has a letter suffix. Check the complete route number and trip pattern. Branches can serve different stops.
The live bus information is missing. Try the stop-ID text service, terminal displays and service alerts. A missing prediction does not automatically prove cancellation.
You forgot to tap off. Review your payment transaction history and GO’s missed-tap-off instructions. Contact Customer Care if a charge appears incorrect.
The transfer was not discounted. Check the three-hour travel window, eligible transit systems and whether the same payment method was used.
A stop is not accessible. Check the official stop finder and accessibility notices. Ask GO staff to confirm an accessible alternative.
You may miss the last return bus. Plan the return trip separately before leaving and compare other eligible regional services.
