Centro Syracuse NY Bus Schedule: Routes, Times & Stops

2026 Centro Syracuse · Onondaga County, NY

Centro Syracuse NY Bus Schedule: Routes, Times & Stops

Centro operates Syracuse’s local bus network, with routes linking Downtown Syracuse to Destiny USA, Syracuse University, Le Moyne College, Onondaga Community College, hospitals, Liverpool, Camillus, Manlius and surrounding communities. Most local routes use the Centro Transit Hub at 599 South Salina Street as a major transfer point.

To find the correct Centro bus schedule, choose the Syracuse route family on Centro’s official website, select your travel date and direction, and then look up your stop. A route such as SY26 South Avenue or SY50 Destiny USA can have multiple trip patterns, so the number on the front of the bus and its final destination both matter.

Below you’ll find the current Syracuse route directory, verified schedule examples, $1 local fare, $3 regional commuter fare, Transit Hub boarding instructions, airport service, live GPS tracking, the November 2026 text-alert change and accessible travel guidance.

How to Check the Centro Syracuse Bus Schedule

Centro does not publish one universal departure time for Syracuse buses. The schedule depends on the route, trip variant, direction, travel date and stop. Routes operating on James Street, South Avenue, University Hill and the northern suburbs may have different first and last buses.

1 Choose Syracuse Open Centro’s route directory and select the Syracuse network.
2 Select a route Match its full SY number and destination.
3 Pick the date Check whether the service runs on your day.
4 Choose direction Select From Hub or To Hub where applicable.
5 Check the arrival Look up your stop and read active service alerts.
Best starting point: Centro Routes & Schedules for scheduled trips, and Centro Bus Tracker for available live arrivals.

Centro recommends arriving at a stop at least five minutes before the scheduled arrival. For a flight, appointment, exam or infrequent evening service, allow additional time.

Centro Syracuse Bus Route Directory

The Syracuse network includes numbered route families with different destinations. Some buses within a family use an additional leading digit. For example, SY26 can include trips labeled 26, 126, 226, 326, 426 or 526 depending on the route branch and timetable.

Centro Syracuse Bus Times: Sample Fall 2026 Timetables

Rather than inventing one citywide first or last bus, the examples below use selected departures published on Centro’s route pages for Monday, November 2, 2026. They demonstrate how different Syracuse routes can have different times and service branches.

SY50: Downtown to Destiny USA

Centro’s SY50 timetable lists these selected departures from the Transit Hub boarding area and their scheduled arrival at Destiny USA.

Why the sample tables matter The bus number at the start of each row identifies the trip pattern. A dash in an official timetable generally means that trip does not serve the listed timepoint. Never assume every bus in a route family reaches the same destination.
Downtown connection point

Centro Syracuse Transit Hub: Address, Bays & Hours

The main Centro Transit Hub is located at 599 South Salina Street, Syracuse, NY 13202. It is a central connection point for city and suburban Centro routes, including routes serving neighborhoods, shopping centers, schools and hospitals.

Closed Saturday and Sunday, according to the published office schedule.

What Do A1, B17 or C19 Mean?

The Centro Hub uses letter-and-number boarding positions. For example, Centro’s published Syracuse route pages identify the following stop codes:

Published Hub bayCentro stop numberExample service
A117640Selected SY30 trips
A217641Selected SY30 trips
B1717656Selected SY26 trips

Hub bay is more useful than a general street address. You may reach 599 South Salina Street and still be at the wrong boarding lane. Match the route number, destination and bay shown in the current timetable or at the Hub.

How to Transfer at the Hub

  1. Before arriving, check the route number of your connecting bus.
  2. Find its published bay letter and number.
  3. Allow enough walking time to reach that bay.
  4. Check the destination sign on the approaching bus.
  5. Prepare another fare or valid unlimited ride pass if changing vehicles.
  6. Recheck the connecting departure if your first bus is delayed.

Verify official Syracuse Transit Hub hours and service information.

  2. Select the Syracuse service area.
  3. Find the “Centro Syracuse — System Map” option.
  4. Open the official route map or PDF.
  5. Locate your starting neighborhood and destination.
  6. Identify possible routes and the correct transfer point.
  7. Open the individual route pages to confirm schedules and deviations.
Map date caution Centro’s widely indexed Syracuse system map PDF has a September 2024 effective date. It is useful for understanding the network, but a route change after that date may not be reflected. The current route pages take priority.

If you need help checking the walking distance from a bus stop to a hospital, university building or shopping entrance, our Google Maps bus route, stop and transit directions guide explains how to compare transit options, walking segments and scheduled versus live departure information.

Going to the Regional Transportation Center?

Centro serves the William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center at 1 Walsh Circle, Syracuse, NY 13208. It is the regional connection point for Amtrak and intercity bus services, not the same building as Centro’s downtown Transit Hub.

Two different transit centers: Centro Transit Hub is at 599 South Salina Street. The William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center is at 1 Walsh Circle. Check which one appears on your ticket, timetable or travel itinerary.

For longer trips departing Syracuse by an intercity operator, use our Trailways bus timetable, tickets and boarding-station guide to verify the carrier, travel date, departure stop and ticket details. Centro’s $1 local fare does not cover an intercity Trailways ticket.

SY84 / 184 Mattydale–Airport

Centro Syracuse Airport Bus Schedule & Boarding Location

Centro provides a public bus connection to Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) through the SY84/184 Mattydale-Airport corridor. The airport confirms that Centro added airport stops to the existing SY84 route in September 2023.

Airport service hours

The airport’s published information describes weekday service approximately from 5:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with limited weekend service.

Those are general service hours, not a guarantee that the airport stop receives a bus every few minutes.

Where to board at the airport

Centro’s airport stop is at Arrivals A Circle, beside the south/Terminal A baggage-claim area.

The airport also provides a next-bus display in Terminal A baggage claim.

Airport Boarding Micro-Steps

  1. Open the airport’s official public transportation page.
  2. Find the Centro service information.
  3. Confirm whether the current SY84/184 trip serves the airport.
  4. Use the Centro schedule for your travel date and direction.
  5. At the airport, follow the signs toward Arrivals A near Terminal A baggage claim.
  6. Check the airport’s next-bus display or Centro’s live tracker.
  7. Allow enough time for flight check-in or for a late arrival that may miss the final bus.
Important flight-planning caution Centro airport service is not a 24-hour airport shuttle. An early flight, late arrival or weekend trip may fall outside the available bus timetable. Confirm a backup transportation option before the flight.
Centro GPS bus location and arrivals

How to Track a Centro Syracuse Bus in Real Time

Centro Bus Tracker uses reported vehicle locations to estimate arrival times at selected stops. It supports route maps, stop lookup and a text-oriented version for riders using assistive technology or smaller devices.

1 Open Bus Tracker Use Centro’s official live bus website.
2 Choose the route Select the correct Syracuse route or trip variant.
3 Find the stop Search by stop name or stop ID.
4 Review predictions Check the approaching bus or scheduled arrival.
5 Check alerts Confirm detours, delays and stop relocations.

Open the official Centro Bus Tracker.

What Does “Delayed” Mean on Centro Bus Tracker?

Centro explains that a bus can show “delayed” when it is unable to move for several minutes because of traffic, rail crossings or unusual events. Once it begins moving, the estimated arrival may update again.

A bus may also temporarily disappear from the tracker if it stops sending location data or leaves its normal route during a detour. That does not always mean the vehicle has been canceled.

Estimated arrival A prediction based on available vehicle reporting.
Scheduled arrival The planned timetable time when live data is unavailable.
Delayed / missing GPS Requires checking the timetable and current route alerts.

Our transit bus schedule guide to stops, live predictions and service alerts explains why a bus can appear in a timetable but not on a live map, and how to verify a journey without relying on a single prediction.

New from November 1, 2026

Centro Text Alerts Changed: Use 22827, Not the Old 41411 Instructions

Centro announced that its previous text-alert system would end on November 1, 2026. The new text-alert platform uses 22827. Existing alert accounts do not transfer automatically, so riders who previously subscribed must register again.

Important change for older online guides Older Centro articles, PDF instructions and some website text still reference the former 41411 short code. The updated official Track By Text instructions identify 22827. Use the new instructions rather than relying on an old saved message.
Example: Check the next bus at Destiny USA

Centro’s official example uses Stop ID 7755.

gocentrobus 7755

Send the message to 22827.

To request only the SY16 results, the published example adds the route code:

gocentrobus 7755 sy16

Centro’s instructions also describe reply commands: R to refresh, N for the next result and S for relevant service notices.

How to Register for New Centro Service Alerts

  1. Open the official Centro Track By Text instructions.
  2. Find the new Centro alert-registration link.
  3. Create an account on the new notification platform.
  4. Select the routes, email address or phone number you want to receive alerts for.
  5. Follow the platform’s confirmation instructions.
  6. Use 22827 for the updated text-arrival workflow.
  7. Keep Centro Bus Tracker or GoCentroBus available as another way to check live arrivals.
Text message meaning Centro says estimated real-time arrivals are marked (est), while scheduled-only times are marked (sch). These are different kinds of information. Standard mobile carrier message or data charges may apply.
Syracuse fares and commuter zones

Centro Syracuse Bus Fares & Passes in 2026

Centro’s standard Syracuse-area local fare is just $1.00. That is different from the $3.00 standard fare published for longer Syracuse–Auburn and Syracuse–Fulton/Oswego commuter journeys.

Local cash fare $1.00 Greater Syracuse local service
Local half fare $0.50 Eligible seniors, disabled riders and qualifying children
Local Day Pass $4.00 Unlimited qualifying rides for 24 hours
Local MAX Pass $12.00 Unlimited qualifying rides for seven consecutive days

Other Centro Fare Products

Fare or passFull fareEligible half fare
Syracuse local cash fare$1.00$0.50
Local Day Pass$4.00$2.00
Local MAX Pass, seven days$12.00$6.00
Local 10-Ride Pass$10.00$5.00
Syracuse commuter fare$3.00$1.50
Commuter Day Pass$7.00$3.50
Commuter MAX Pass$30.00$15.00

Centro’s published fare table also lists children aged 6–9 accompanied by a paying adult at half fare, and children under 6 traveling with an adult as free.

Why a $1 Fare Can Become $2 for a Two-Bus Journey

Centro eliminated ordinary paper transfers. If you exit one bus and board a different bus, you normally pay another fare unless you have a valid unlimited-ride pass or another specifically applicable fare arrangement.

Example: two local buses $2.00

One $1 local ride plus another $1 local ride when changing buses.

Example: multiple rides in a day $4.00

A qualifying local Day Pass may save money when you make several separate trips.

Centro’s “continues as” exception If a bus continues as another route when it reaches the Hub and you remain aboard, Centro says you do not need to get off and pay another fare. Check with the operator before assuming that your specific trip continues.

Check current official Centro Syracuse local and commuter fares.

How to pay when boarding

Centro Bus Payment Methods: Cash, Contactless & GoCentroBus

Cash Payment

  1. Confirm the fare or pass price.
  2. Tell the driver if purchasing a Day or MAX Pass.
  3. Insert cash into the farebox as directed.
  4. Retain the issued pass or fare product.

Contactless Card

  1. Prepare an accepted contactless bank card or supported mobile wallet.
  2. Use the farebox validator.
  3. Check the payment confirmation.
  4. Review your bank statement if multiple fares are grouped together.

GoCentroBus Mobile Pass

  1. Install the official GoCentroBus app.
  2. Create an account and select a supported fare product.
  3. Complete payment.
  4. Open the dynamic QR ticket.
  5. Scan the QR code at the bus farebox validator.

Why Did Centro Charge More Than $1 to My Card?

Centro explains that contactless fares can be accumulated and processed together. The operator may combine rides into a larger charge once accumulated transactions reach $10, or settle smaller daily totals at the end of the day.

That does not necessarily mean the fare for one local trip increased. Check the individual travel dates and transactions before reporting a billing issue.

For fare-payment questions, Centro publishes 315-442-3342 for Revenue Collections assistance.

Read official Centro farebox, tap-to-pay and pass information.

University, college and hospital travel

Centro Buses for Syracuse University, OCC, Le Moyne & Hospitals

Academic and medical trips often need more planning than a standard downtown shopping journey. Campuses can have several entrances, while hospital complexes may use different street addresses for clinics, emergency care and appointments.

Syracuse University and Westcott

SY30 serves College Place, Syracuse University and Westcott Street on selected trips. Other university-branded routes can follow campus-specific patterns.

Tip: Check whether the bus stops at College Place or a different University Hill location before choosing the walking route.

Onondaga Community College

SY26 includes trips serving OCC Allyn Hall. The campus may be served by a particular 226 or other designated branch.

Tip: Do not assume every South Avenue bus reaches OCC. Match the branch to the class or appointment time.

Le Moyne College

SY76 Salt Springs Road includes Le Moyne College as a published timepoint.

Tip: Confirm the campus walking path from the stop, especially during winter conditions.

Hospitals on University Hill and South Avenue

SY40 and selected SY26 variants serve different healthcare corridors. Community Hospital trips are not the same as every University Hill hospital route.

Tip: Search the full hospital or clinic address rather than only the hospital system name.

Student and Campus Schedule Warning

Some university and college services change with the academic calendar. A shuttle that runs during classes may not operate the same way on weekends, university breaks or in summer.

Check the current Centro route page and the relevant school’s transportation information for special student routes, pass eligibility and operating days.

Beyond Syracuse city limits

Centro Syracuse to Auburn, Oswego & Fulton

Centro provides regional commuter routes between Syracuse and certain neighboring cities, but it does not operate direct intercity service between Syracuse and every Central New York city.

AUB38 Auburn–Syracuse

Provides the Centro commuter connection between Auburn and Syracuse via the Elbridge corridor.

Full commuter fare: Generally $3 for applicable trips.

OSW46 Oswego–Syracuse

Connects Oswego and Syracuse via the Oswego County commuter corridor.

Full commuter fare: Generally $3 for applicable trips.

Other regional destinations

Centro explicitly states that it does not provide direct intercity service between Syracuse and Utica, Cortland or Rome.

Those journeys require a different transportation operator or arrangement.

How to Use the Correct Commuter Schedule

  1. Open Centro’s Routes & Schedules directory.
  2. Select the Auburn or Oswego service area as appropriate.
  3. Find AUB38 or OSW46.
  4. Choose the direction toward Syracuse or the originating city.
  5. Check the travel date and timetable.
  6. Review the fare zone and whether a pass covers the full journey.
  7. Confirm the boarding location and current service alerts.
Flag-stop difference Centro identifies its Auburn–Syracuse and Oswego–Syracuse routes as flag-stop services at safe points along their corridors. This does not mean a driver can stop anywhere; traffic safety and available stopping space control where boarding is possible.
September 2026 service information

Centro Syracuse Route Changes to Know in Fall 2026

Centro’s route directory lists service enhancements effective Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Two Syracuse changes are particularly relevant to riders using Camillus or shopper service.

SY36 Camillus — Fairmount Fair change

The weekday 1:35 PM Route 36 To-Hub trip and 3:05 PM Route 136 To-Hub trip no longer pull into Fairmount Fair under the revised pattern.

Check the current stop if you previously boarded inside the shopping area.

SY90 Wegmans Shopper — added stop

Centro added Creekside Landing at 416 W. Onondaga Street to the Friday evening shopper trip serving Onondaga Wegmans.

Check the Friday schedule because shopper routes may not operate like ordinary daily routes.

Why this is important A route can keep the same name while changing a particular trip, shopping-center loop or timepoint. When an old saved PDF and the live site disagree, use the current official schedule and its effective date.

Check the Centro 2026 schedule notices and individual routes.

Accessible public transportation

Are Centro Syracuse Buses Wheelchair Accessible?

Centro states that its buses are equipped with mobility ramps or lifts and kneeling features for passengers who need accessible boarding. Priority seating is provided near the front of the vehicle.

Accessible boarding

Tell the driver when you need a ramp, lift or kneeling feature. Check that the stop has a usable curb and safe pedestrian access.

Reduced fares

Eligible riders aged 65 and over and qualifying passengers with disabilities may obtain a Centro Reduced Fare ID or present other accepted qualifying documents.

Call-A-Bus Paratransit

Centro operates a separate shared-ride service for riders who meet ADA paratransit eligibility requirements. Advance booking and eligibility rules apply.

How to Apply for a Centro Reduced Fare ID

  1. Open Centro’s official Reduced Fares information.
  2. Review eligibility for age, disability or Medicare status.
  3. Download the application if necessary.
  4. Prepare the identification and documents required for your category.
  5. Contact the Syracuse Transit Hub about photo-ID processing.
  6. Bring the appropriate eligibility evidence when traveling.

Centro lists reduced-fare photo-ID processing at the Syracuse Transit Hub Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM.

How to Contact Call-A-Bus

Centro publishes 315-442-3434 for Call-A-Bus. Riders should verify eligibility, service area, reservation timing, pickup requirements and applicable fares before booking.

Accessibility tip An accessible bus does not guarantee that every nearby sidewalk or hospital entrance is accessible. Check construction, snow-clearing conditions, the exact boarding stop and any required transfer before leaving.
Snow, holidays and special events

Centro Syracuse Winter Detours & Holiday Schedules

Central New York winters can create detours, delayed arrivals, temporary stop changes and service suspensions. Snow conditions can also affect the ability to reach a bus stop even when the bus route remains in service.

Winter-Day Checklist

  • Check Centro service alerts before leaving.
  • Look for a snow-route or detour notice.
  • Confirm whether your stop is still active.
  • Use a safe, accessible walking path.
  • Check Bus Tracker for available predictions.
  • Allow extra time for an important transfer.

Holiday Service

Many Syracuse route documents specify Sunday-style schedules on major observed holidays. However, this is not universal: some commuter, school or special routes may not run at all on a holiday.

Open the official route and check the schedule note for the date you plan to travel. Do not assume that a route without Sunday service will run simply because another route uses a Sunday timetable.

New York State Fair Buses

Centro publishes special New York State Fair services and Park-N-Ride information during the fair period. These are seasonal routes, not permanent daily services.

Fare, pickup location and operating day can depend on the special route. Do not use a State Fair schedule from August or September as an ordinary November timetable.

Open Centro’s official website for current alerts and seasonal service notices.

Solve common bus problems
