Route Q7 Bus Schedule: Times, Stops & Map

2026 MTA Queens · Q7 Local Bus

Route Q7 Bus Schedule: Times, Stops & Map

The Q7 bus runs 24 hours a day between Cypress Hills and JFK Airport Travel Plaza, via Rockaway Boulevard. This MTA Bus Company local route serves Cypress Hills, Ozone Park, South Ozone Park and the airport employment area near 147th Street and 147th Avenue.

The Queens Bus Network Redesign changed the route in August 2025. The current Q7 no longer continues along its former Sutter Avenue and Pitkin Avenue segment in East New York, and it no longer serves JFK Cargo Area C. This guide covers the updated timetable, actual departure examples, $3 fare, both stop directions, subway transfers, airport-worker connections and MTA live tracking.

Quick schedule answer

What Time Does the Q7 Bus Run?

The current Q7 service plan provides 24-hour service on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. That means there is no ordinary daily shutdown or single first and last bus. Instead, service continues across midnight, with longer gaps overnight.

Weekday peak ~7–10 min Frequent peak-direction service
Weekday midday ~13–20 min Depends on the operating period
Saturday daytime ~20 min Typical planned frequency
Overnight ~30 min Check the exact departure
Frequency is not the same as an exact departure. These are planning-level service patterns, not a guarantee that your bus reaches every stop at the same interval. Check the official Q7 schedule or the current arrival prediction for your specific stop.

Important for JFK travelers

Does Q7 Go to JFK Airport Passenger Terminals?

No. The Q7 is not a direct passenger-terminal bus. Its current eastern terminal is the JFK Airport Travel Plaza area, with the published stop at 147th Street and 147th Avenue. That is different from the airline terminals, the Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain station and the former JFK Cargo Area C service.

Q7 Travel Plaza Useful for the Rockaway Boulevard corridor and nearby airport employment area.
Q3 Cargo / AirTrain Different airport-side route, including the JFK cargo corridor and Lefferts AirTrain.
Q10 AirTrain Serves Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain, where passengers can connect to JFK terminals.
Going to a flight? Do not board Q7 merely because its headsign says “JFK Airport Travel Plaza.” That destination does not mean the bus drops you at your airline’s terminal. Plan the correct Q3, Q10, AirTrain or other connection for your actual terminal.

Airport workers heading beyond the Travel Plaza should check the current employer or Port Authority shuttle arrangements for their particular building. The 2025 redesign moved former Q7 Cargo Area C coverage to the Q3 and Port Authority shuttle network.

Queens Bus Network Redesign

What Changed on Q7 After August 31, 2025?

The revised Q7 follows Rockaway Boulevard farther west to Cypress Hills, while its eastern end has been shortened to JFK Travel Plaza. This change is especially important for people using older maps or saved schedules.

Three Changes Riders Should Know

1. New western routing Q7 uses Rockaway Boulevard between the Liberty Avenue and Jamaica Avenue areas, providing service to Cypress Hills.
2. Old East New York segment The former Q7 service along Sutter Avenue and Pitkin Avenue is no longer part of Q7. The Q112 provides the relevant replacement corridor.
3. Airport-side change Q7 ends at JFK Travel Plaza. Cargo Area C passengers must use the current Q3 and appropriate airport shuttle connections.
Stop changes matter too. The redesign proposed increasing average Q7 stop spacing from approximately 775 feet to 1,098 feet. A stop that appeared on an old map may have been removed, moved or replaced. Confirm the current stop list before walking there.

The MTA Queens Bus Network Redesign Q7 route documentation explains the route changes and new stopping pattern.

Saturday, Sunday and overnight

Q7 Saturday and Sunday Bus Schedule

The current Q7 operates throughout the weekend, including overnight. Frequency is different from weekday rush hours, so a saved weekday timetable should not be used for a Sunday morning trip.

Saturday 24 hours Many daytime departures are roughly 20 minutes apart.
Sunday 24 hours Service generally ranges around 20–30 minutes during much of the day.
Late night Plan ahead Allow for longer intervals and check the exact stop.

Saturday Morning Timetable Example

Cypress Hills Rockaway / 94 St Rockaway / Lefferts Travel Plaza
6:40 AM 6:51 AM 7:04 AM 7:21 AM
7:00 AM 7:11 AM 7:24 AM 7:41 AM
7:20 AM 7:31 AM 7:44 AM 8:01 AM

Selected Saturday morning trips from the published MTA Q7 timetable. Timepoints are planned rather than guaranteed arrivals.

How Do Overnight Q7 Departures Work?

Q7 continues across midnight, but the period from midnight through the early morning has less frequent service. At some overnight departure points, scheduled spacing is approximately 30 minutes. Check the exact service day and direction because an after-midnight trip belongs to the following calendar date.

Airport-worker tip If your shift starts at 4 AM or 5 AM, use the overnight timetable and calculate your arrival at the Travel Plaza—not just your boarding time. Include the time required to reach your workplace from the bus stop.

Holiday Q7 Service

Holiday schedules can use Sunday, Saturday or reduced weekday service depending on the holiday and MTA notices. Major holidays such as New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas commonly use Sunday patterns on MTA local routes. Confirm the current Q7 holiday instructions instead of assuming a normal weekday frequency.

Service frequency visual

How Often Does Q7 Arrive?

The Queens redesign service plan shows the busiest Q7 periods have shorter average waits than midday and overnight service. The bars illustrate relative service frequency using the published planning intervals, not real-time on-time performance.

The figures represent weekday peak-direction planning intervals published for the redesigned Q7; the actual timetable can have different gaps, including short turns, school trips or traffic-related delays. A longer bar represents greater scheduled frequency.

Do not assume the return stop is across the street. Around the Cypress Hills terminal, the westbound Q7 uses a different approach from the eastbound departure pattern. Confirm Jamaica Avenue/Eldert Lane, the current temporary stop and the direction on MTA Bus Time.

How to Open the Correct Q7 Stop Map

  1. Open MTA Bus Time for Route Q7.
  2. Choose the heading toward Cypress Hills or JFK Airport Travel Plaza.
  3. Look through the current stop list.
  4. Select the stop name matching your intersection.
  5. Confirm its stop ID and boarding direction.
  6. Review arriving buses and check for detours or temporary relocations.
Subway transfer points

75 St–Elderts Lane J · Z The Q7 Cypress Hills terminal is near Jamaica Avenue/Eldert Lane, allowing access to the Jamaica Avenue elevated subway.
Rockaway Boulevard Station A Q7 serves the Rockaway Boulevard corridor near the A subway at Liberty Avenue.
Other local connections Q routes Transfer opportunities along Rockaway Boulevard include the Q8, Q10, Q11, Q41, Q52-SBS and Q53-SBS corridors, depending on the stop.

Q7 to the A Subway: Practical Steps

  1. Board the Q7 toward your desired Rockaway Boulevard stop.
  2. Find the stop near Liberty Avenue or the Rockaway Boulevard subway area.
  3. Request your stop before the bus reaches it.
  4. Follow the subway station signs and check the train’s travel direction.
  5. Use the same OMNY payment method for an eligible bus-to-subway transfer.

The Q8 bus schedule for the 101st Avenue and Ozone Park corridor is also useful for people traveling toward Jamaica, East New York or Gateway Center. Q8 and Q7 use nearby western Queens streets, but they have different terminals and routes.

2026 MTA fares

Q7 Bus Fare: How Much Does It Cost?

The standard Q7 fare in 2026 is $3.00 per ride. Q7 is a local bus, not an express-fare route. Eligible seniors and riders with qualifying disabilities can receive a reduced fare.

Regular adult fare $3.00 Standard local-bus ride
Reduced Fare $1.50 Eligible riders
OMNY 7-day cap $35 Qualifying full-fare trips
Reduced weekly cap $17.50 Registered Reduced-Fare OMNY riders

How to Pay for Q7 Using OMNY

  1. Prepare an OMNY Card, contactless credit/debit card or compatible mobile wallet.
  2. Enter the bus through the front door.
  3. Tap your card or device on the OMNY reader.
  4. Wait for payment confirmation.
  5. Use the same card or device when making an eligible transfer.

OMNY Payment Flow

1 Prepare Choose an accepted payment method.
2 Board Enter through the front door.
3 Tap Use the OMNY reader.
4 Transfer Keep the same card or device.
5 Cap Eligible paid trips count toward the weekly limit.

Can You Pay Cash or Use MetroCard in 2026?

MetroCard sales and refills ended at the beginning of 2026. The MTA’s published transition instructions still describe acceptance of valid existing MetroCards and exact coins on local buses while the system moves to OMNY, but that acceptance is scheduled to end. Check the latest MTA guidance before relying on either option.

Fare-payment change warning The current supported payment method is OMNY tap-and-go. Coin and MetroCard acceptance may end on a separately announced date. Do not assume an old paper timetable’s payment text is still valid.

How Free Transfers Work

Eligible bus-to-bus and bus-to-subway transfers are generally available within two hours of the original paid tap. Tap with the same OMNY Card, bank card or exact mobile-wallet payment method to receive the transfer benefit.

The seven-day OMNY cap applies to qualifying paid trips, not to free transfers or group taps. Switching between your physical bank card and the phone-wallet version can result in separate fare-cap tracking.

Check the official OMNY fare-cap and transfer rules.

JFK Airport travel decisions

Q7, Q3 or Q10: Which Bus Should You Take for JFK?

The route you need depends on whether you work near JFK Cargo and Travel Plaza or are traveling to an airline passenger terminal.

Destination Useful route What to know
JFK Travel Plaza / 147th St Q7 Q7’s eastern terminal serves this area; verify the walking route to your workplace.
JFK Cargo Area Q3 / airport shuttles Q7 no longer serves its former Cargo Area C extension. Check the specific cargo facility.
Lefferts Blvd AirTrain Q10 or Q3 These routes provide airport-side connections to the AirTrain network.
JFK airline terminal AirTrain connection Plan the correct bus-to-AirTrain journey or another terminal-access route; Q7 does not deliver passengers to terminal curbs.

Airport Passenger Connection Example

1 Choose start
2 Check Q3 / Q10
3 Lefferts AirTrain
4 Board AirTrain
5 Check terminal
6 Reach airline

The Q10 schedule and Lefferts Boulevard AirTrain transfer guide explains the Kew Gardens–JFK route and how to connect from Lefferts Boulevard to airport terminals.

For the JFK cargo district or airport workers using Farmers Boulevard, our Q3 bus schedule and JFK Cargo Area connection guide covers that route and its AirTrain connections.

Airport timing tip A scheduled Q7 arrival at Travel Plaza is not an arrival at your airline terminal. If your connection requires another bus, shuttle or AirTrain, add walking and waiting time to your itinerary.
Real-time bus tracking

How to Track Q7 Buses Live

MTA Bus Time provides route directions, stop lists and current vehicle-location information. It helps riders distinguish a scheduled departure from a bus actually approaching their stop.

1 Open tracker Go to official MTA Bus Time.
2 Search Q7 Confirm Rockaway Boulevard.
3 Pick direction Cypress Hills or Travel Plaza.
4 Choose stop Select the correct intersection or code.
5 Recheck Refresh predictions and alerts.

Open the official Q7 live bus tracker.

Stop Code Example: Rockaway Boulevard / 143rd Street

One published MTA Q7 westbound stop code at Rockaway Boulevard/143rd Street is 550117. The MTA stop-information service can display Q7 and other routes serving that stop.

MTA’s stop-code instructions allow riders to text the stop number to 511123 for up-to-date bus information. Confirm the posted six-digit stop ID first, especially if you are on the opposite side of Rockaway Boulevard.

Scheduled vs predicted arrival A timetable gives the planned trip. MTA Bus Time may show an approaching vehicle, minutes away, distance or stop count. If real-time data is missing or buses are detoured, predictions can be incomplete or inaccurate.
Construction and detours

Q7 Service Alerts: Cypress Hills Stop Changes

MTA Bus Time has displayed construction and blockage notices around the Cypress Hills end of Q7. These include changes affecting Jamaica Avenue/Eldert Lane and Grant Avenue/Etna Street. Whether a specific notice remains active must be checked on the day you travel.

Westbound Jamaica Avenue / Eldert Lane

A published Q7 construction advisory identified a temporary drop-off on Eldert Lane at 87th Avenue instead of the regular Jamaica Avenue/Eldert Lane stop.

Eastbound Grant Avenue / Etna Street

A published advisory identified a stop closure and directed passengers to check Jamaica Avenue/Eldert Lane or Rockaway Boulevard/75th Street as alternative boarding locations.

Do not treat historical alerts as permanent. The notices described above have appeared on MTA Bus Time but may change or expire. Always open the current Q7 tracker before traveling, especially near the Cypress Hills terminal.

What to Do if Your Stop Is Temporarily Closed

  1. Open the Q7 route in MTA Bus Time.
  2. Select the direction you need.
  3. Read any current service-alert message.
  4. Find the exact closed stop and replacement location.
  5. Check the walking route and whether you need to cross the street.
  6. Check accessibility and live arrivals at the replacement stop.
Accessible journey planning

Q7 Wheelchair Access and Reduced-Fare Information

MTA buses are accessible to wheelchair users and include boarding assistance features such as ramps or lifts and designated mobility-device spaces. However, stop access can be affected by curb conditions, construction, snow or relocation.

Accessible vehicles MTA buses accommodate wheelchairs. Riders may request assistance with accessible boarding equipment.
Accessible bus stops Confirm the actual sidewalk, curb, crossing and boarding side. Stop relocations may change the accessible path.
Reduced fares Riders aged 65 and older or with qualifying disabilities may apply for the MTA Reduced-Fare program.

Step-by-Step Accessible Travel Check

  1. Find your stop in the current MTA Q7 stop list.
  2. Confirm the bus route and destination.
  3. Check whether the stop is temporarily closed or moved.
  4. Identify a usable sidewalk and crossing to reach the boarding area.
  5. If transferring to the subway, check station accessibility and elevator status separately.
  6. Contact MTA customer assistance if you cannot identify a suitable accessible connection.

Nighttime Request-a-Stop

MTA local bus rules include a late-night request-a-stop policy, generally between 10 PM and 5 AM, when a driver may permit a safe drop-off between regular stops. The operator must judge whether the requested location is safe and permissible.

For passengers with limited mobility Do not assume a driver can discharge passengers at every requested intersection. Speak to the operator in advance, and plan the actual accessible path from the permitted stop.

See MTA’s official bus-riding guide for accessibility, payment and late-night boarding rules.

Local Q7 Rider Tips for Ozone Park and Cypress Hills

Check the subway station name carefully.

Rockaway Boulevard is both a major road and the name of an A subway station. A bus stop farther along Rockaway Boulevard may not be the closest stop to the station entrance.

Use the newer Cypress Hills route.

Older maps may direct you toward Pitkin Avenue or Sutter Avenue. After the redesign, the Q7’s western terminal is Jamaica Avenue/Eldert Lane.

Allow extra time near the Van Wyck Expressway.

Congestion along the highway approaches and Rockaway Boulevard can cause real-world travel times to differ from the printed timetable.

Know where your airport job is.

The Travel Plaza, Cargo Area C, Lefferts AirTrain and airline passenger terminals are different destinations. Choose your route and transfer according to the building you need.

Overnight workers should confirm the return trip.

Q7 operates around the clock, but a missed overnight departure can mean a much longer wait. Check the stop and direction before finishing your shift.

Do not assume all nearby buses use the same fare category.

Q7 is a standard local bus. Other services may have Select Bus Service boarding procedures or different routes, even where they share transfer points.

For broader help with New York City route numbers, subway transfers, OMNY payments and local versus express buses, our MTA bus schedule and five-borough rider guide explains the system-wide rules.

Official schedule walkthrough

How to Find the Correct Q7 Bus Timetable Online

  1. Open the MTA Q7 page. Visit the official Q7 schedule.
  2. Confirm the updated route name. Look for Cypress Hills–Rockaway Boulevard–JFK Travel Plaza.
  3. Check the schedule effective date. The redesigned route took effect August 31, 2025. If a newer timetable is published, use the newer version.
  4. Choose weekday, Saturday or Sunday. Do not use a weekday timetable for a weekend trip.
  5. Choose direction. Select Cypress Hills or JFK Travel Plaza.
  6. Find your timepoint. Look for Eldert Lane, 94th Street, Lefferts Boulevard, 150th Street or the Travel Plaza terminal.
  7. Read across a single trip. Match the same bus’s departure and arrival columns or row. Check any special notes or school-day symbols.
  8. Check the exact stop. Use MTA Bus Time for intermediate intersections not printed in the timetable.
  9. Review live tracking. Confirm whether the time shown is predicted or only scheduled.
  10. Check alerts and payment. Verify temporary stops, accessible boarding and accepted OMNY or other fare methods.
Useful PDF-reading detail The printed MTA timetable uses major scheduled timepoints rather than every local stop. The PDF may also display PM times in bold text. Always pay attention to the day, direction, time format and any footnotes.
Troubleshooting

Common Q7 Problems and What to Do

My old stop is no longer served.

Check the 2025 Queens redesign map and current MTA Bus Time stop list. Your stop may have been moved, consolidated or affected by a temporary closure.

I need East New York via Pitkin Avenue.

The current Q7 no longer follows its former Pitkin/Sutter route. Review the Q112 for the replacement East New York corridor.

I need JFK Cargo Area C.

Q7 now ends at Travel Plaza. Verify the current Q3 and any required Port Authority or workplace shuttle connections.

Bus Time shows no approaching Q7.

Check your stop ID, travel direction, scheduled service and alert status. A live-data outage or detour can affect predictions.

The Q7 is late near the Van Wyck.

Traffic and roadwork can affect the eastern Rockaway Boulevard corridor. Use the live tracker and allow time if you are making a work or transit connection.

I need a wheelchair-friendly stop.

Verify the precise boarding location and whether construction has moved the bus stop. Contact MTA assistance if the sidewalk or crossing is unusable.

Before you travel

Q7 Boarding Checklist

  • Confirm you need current Q7, not the old East New York routing.
  • Choose Cypress Hills or JFK Travel Plaza direction.
  • Check your exact stop in MTA Bus Time.
  • Use the correct weekday or weekend timetable.
  • Check for construction-related stop closures.
  • Remember Q7 does not serve JFK airline passenger terminals.
  • Prepare your OMNY Card or accepted payment method.
  • Use the same card or device for eligible transfers.
  • Allow extra time for subway or airport shuttle connections.
  • Recheck the return trip, especially overnight.
