Q47 Bus Schedule: Times, Stops & Map
The Q47 is an MTA local bus connecting Glendale and East Elmhurst in Queens, New York. It runs through Middle Village, Maspeth, Woodside and Jackson Heights using 80th Street, 74th/75th Streets and 23rd Avenue.
The route operates on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The regular adult fare is $3.00, and the trip between its terminals is generally scheduled for approximately 45–50 minutes, depending on direction and departure.
Below you can check first and last buses, timetable examples, all current stops, subway transfers, OMNY fares, accessible boarding, live arrivals and the important 2025 change that removed direct Q47 service to LaGuardia Airport Terminal A.
Does the Q47 Still Go to LaGuardia Airport?
No, the current Q47 no longer runs directly to LaGuardia Airport Terminal A. The Queens Bus Network Redesign changed the route on August 31, 2025. Q47 was extended along 23rd Avenue to the former Q33 terminal area at 94th Street/Ditmars Boulevard, while the Q33 took over the discontinued direct service to Terminal A.
East Elmhurst–Glendale
Operates between the Ditmars Boulevard area and Glendale, via Jackson Heights, Woodside, Maspeth and Middle Village.
Northern terminal: 95 St/Ditmars Blvd eastbound; 94 St/Ditmars Blvd toward Glendale.
Glendale–LaGuardia Terminal A
The June 30, 2024 MTA timetable shows direct Q47 trips to the Marine Air Terminal. This older routing was changed in August 2025.
Current replacement: Q33 serves the former Terminal A connection.

Weekday, Weekend and Holiday Differences
Weekday rush-hour service is more frequent than Saturday or Sunday service. On holidays, MTA may operate a Sunday, Saturday or special schedule. Service can also be affected by school calendars, events and planned work.
For broader NYC bus schedules and an explanation of local, limited, SBS and express service, read our MTA bus schedule and five-borough route guide. It is particularly useful when comparing Q47 with a connecting bus or subway.

How Long Does the Q47 Bus Take?
Traffic along Queens Boulevard, Broadway, Northern Boulevard and 23rd Avenue can affect actual running time. A scheduled 50-minute full-route trip may take longer during congestion.
How Often Does the Q47 Bus Run?
Q47 frequency changes considerably through the day. Current timetable data and the Queens Bus Network Redesign show frequent weekday peak trips but significantly wider intervals on weekends.
The bars visualize relative departure frequency, not reliability or live performance. More frequent service is represented by the longer bar.
Why Do Two Q47 Buses Sometimes Arrive Together?
Bus bunching can occur when the first vehicle encounters traffic or heavy boarding and the following bus catches up. This is why real-time vehicle positions can be more useful than simply knowing the published frequency.

Q47 Subway Connections at Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue
One of the most useful parts of the Q47 is its connection with the Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue/74th Street subway complex.
Subway services associated with the Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue station complex. Confirm the current line pattern and service alerts before transferring.
Access the 74th Street–Broadway station area for the 7 subway service. Confirm the correct platform and direction.
Connections include buses such as Q33, Q49, Q53-SBS and other services serving the Broadway/Roosevelt Avenue corridor.
How to Transfer From Q47 to the Subway
- Ride Q47 toward the Broadway/Roosevelt Avenue area.
- Exit at the appropriate stop for your direction.
- Follow the station signs for Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue or 74th Street–Broadway.
- Check the required subway route and train direction.
- Use the same eligible OMNY payment method for the transfer.
- Check station elevator status if you require step-free access.
The Q53-SBS is another useful Queens route around the Broadway/75th Street area. If you are connecting from Q47 toward Woodside, Woodhaven or the Rockaways, compare our Q53-SBS timetable, stops and Rockaway Park connection guide. Remember that Q53-SBS is a different limited-stop service with its own boarding locations.
Q47 to LaGuardia Airport: Which Bus Should You Use Now?
If you are traveling to LaGuardia, first confirm your terminal. The Q47 can bring you into the East Elmhurst corridor, but it is no longer the old direct Terminal A bus.
| Need | Useful MTA route | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Terminal A / Marine Air Terminal | Q33 | Q33 replaced the discontinued Q47 Terminal A segment. Check its current airport-bound route and stop. |
| Terminals B and C | Q70-SBS LaGuardia Link | The Q70-SBS is fare-free and connects key Queens subway/LIRR hubs with the airport terminals it serves. |
| Airport from the 23rd Avenue corridor | M60-SBS | Check M60 airport-bound stops and direction, including its 23rd Avenue and Astoria routing. |
| Unsure which terminal | MTA Trip Planner | Enter the exact terminal, not only “LaGuardia Airport,” and compare the full route. |
Practical Airport-Planning Steps
- Check your airline ticket for Terminal A, B or C.
- Open MTA Trip Planner or the MTA app.
- Enter your starting stop and the correct airport terminal.
- Compare Q33, Q70-SBS and M60-SBS where appropriate.
- Check the airport-bound stop, not the opposite direction.
- Allow time for traffic, terminal walking, check-in and security.
- Recheck the airport bus’s live status before leaving.
Our M60-SBS LaGuardia Airport bus schedule and terminal guide covers the airport-bound route, 23rd Avenue and Astoria stops, fare details and connections. It can help if your Q47 journey ends near an M60 boarding point.
How Much Does the Q47 Bus Cost in 2026?
Q47 is a regular local bus and uses the standard MTA local-bus fare.
How to Pay on the Q47
- Prepare an OMNY card, eligible contactless debit/credit card or mobile wallet.
- Wait until the Q47 stops and the boarding doors open.
- Enter through the front door.
- Tap the OMNY reader.
- Look for the accepted-payment confirmation.
- Use the same eligible payment device when making a qualifying transfer.
Can You Use Cash?
MTA’s August 2026 rider guidance states that exact-change coins are accepted on local buses, although it also notes an upcoming transition away from cash acceptance later in 2026. Because that transition can change payment options, check the current official fare guidance before relying on cash.
As of January 1, 2026, MetroCards can no longer be purchased or refilled. MTA’s rider guidance explains the transitional rules for spending remaining MetroCard value.

How to Track Q47 Bus Arrivals Live
Use MTA Bus Time to check available vehicle predictions for your exact stop. Select the route and direction, then confirm the intersection rather than relying on a general route-level arrival estimate.
Open the official Q47 Bus Time tracker.
Scheduled Time vs Live Arrival
Scheduled time is the bus’s planned timetable. Live arrival is a newer estimate based on available vehicle data. Traffic, stop delays, detours and GPS limitations can change a live prediction.
Text Your Bus Stop Code
MTA Bus Time supports text-based arrivals. When supported for your stop, text the posted stop code to 511123. Check the exact code at the stop or on MTA Bus Time before sending.
Is the Q47 Wheelchair Accessible?
MTA states that its bus fleet is accessible to passengers using wheelchairs. Local buses use low-floor designs and ramps or kneeling features to help with boarding.
How to Plan an Accessible Q47 Trip
- Select your Q47 direction and boarding stop.
- Confirm the pedestrian route to the bus stop is accessible.
- Check temporary construction or stop-relocation notices.
- Review accessible subway station options if transferring.
- Allow extra time for ramps, elevators and walking connections.
- Ask the bus operator for assistance when appropriate.
Nighttime Request-A-Stop
MTA’s late-night Request-A-Stop program allows riders on eligible local buses to request a safe drop-off location along the route between 10 PM and 5 AM. The operator decides whether a safe stop is possible. The program does not guarantee a stop at every requested location.

Six Practical Q47 Tips for First-Time and Regular Riders
1. Check 74th Street vs 75th Street
Around Jackson Heights, the two travel directions use different streets. Find the return-direction stop before leaving your destination.
2. Use the Correct Glendale Terminal
The East Elmhurst-bound trip begins at 80 St/Cooper Av, while the Glendale-bound trip ends at Cooper Av/81 St. These are not identically named boarding stops.
3. Plan Around Weekend Gaps
Sunday departures are often about 30 minutes apart. If you are connecting with a train or catching a flight, choose an earlier bus rather than planning a tight transfer.
4. Watch for Traffic in Jackson Heights
Broadway, Roosevelt Avenue and the surrounding one-way streets can be busy. Live arrival predictions can move when buses encounter traffic or heavy passenger boarding.
5. Don’t Treat an Airport-Area Stop as a Terminal Stop
Q47 serves East Elmhurst, but the former direct Terminal A segment now belongs to Q33. Check the appropriate airport bus and walking instructions.
6. Confirm the Last Return Bus
Before visiting friends, shopping or attending an evening event, check the last departure from your actual return stop. A terminal’s last bus time may not be the last time you can board near your destination.
For planning a walking connection between bus stops, checking an unfamiliar intersection or comparing alternative transit routes, our Google Maps bus schedule and stop-navigation guide explains how to review route directions, departure labels and walking connections.
