Q43 Bus Schedule: Jamaica to Floral Park, Times, Stops & Map
The Q43 runs between Jamaica and Floral Park along Sutphin Boulevard and Hillside Avenue in Queens. It operates seven days a week, including overnight, and connects eastern Queens neighborhoods with Jamaica’s subway, LIRR and JFK AirTrain connections.
The most important change for riders is the Q43 Rush stopping pattern. The 2025 Queens Bus Network Redesign removed several former local stops, while the separate Q43 Limited designation was discontinued.
This guide uses the MTA timetable effective June 28, 2026 and covers actual weekday and weekend examples, all 23 stops in each direction, fares, transfers, live tracking, accessibility and practical local boarding advice.
What Is the Q43 Bus Schedule in 2026?
The Q43 operates 24-hour service between Jamaica and Floral Park. It makes Rush stops on Hillside Avenue and has weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules.
Its timetable includes much more frequent service during weekday commuting periods than overnight. The exact departure depends on direction and boarding stop.
Q43 Rush Service: What Changed in the Queens Bus Redesign?
Starting June 29, 2025, the Q43 changed to the new Rush stopping pattern under the Queens Bus Network Redesign. The route kept its general Jamaica–Floral Park alignment, but some former local stops were removed.
The old separate Q43 Limited service was discontinued. The current Q43 timetable states that all trips make Rush stops only.
Current Q43 Rush
Fewer stops along Hillside Avenue- Runs between Jamaica and Floral Park.
- Operates every day, including overnight.
- Serves designated Rush stops.
- Uses the current MTA schedule and stop list.
Former Q43 Limited
Separate LTD designation discontinued- Older local and limited timetables are outdated.
- Some former Q43 stops were removed.
- Older stop maps may show incorrect boarding points.
- Local alternatives may be better for skipped stops.
Examples of Stops Removed From Q43 Service
The MTA’s redesign stop tables identify several locations removed to create nonstop Rush sections. Examples include:
- Sutphin Boulevard / 89th Avenue
- Hillside Avenue / 150th Street
- Hillside Avenue / 162nd Street
- Hillside Avenue / 166th Street
- Hillside Avenue / 182nd Place
- Hillside Avenue / 184th Street
- Hillside Avenue / 187th Street
- Hillside Avenue / 191st Street
- Hillside Avenue / 193rd Street
- Hillside Avenue / 195th Place
This is a selection of documented changes, not a complete list of removed stops. The current stop list further below is the one to use for boarding.
What If Your Former Q43 Stop Is No Longer Served?
The MTA identifies the Q1, Q3 and Q76 as local-service alternatives along relevant sections of Hillside Avenue. These services do not have identical destinations, so compare the complete journey before boarding.
For Jamaica-area passengers, the Q3 bus schedule and its Hillside Avenue connections can help identify a nearby local alternative. Check its own route map because the Q3 continues toward a different destination.

Does the Q43 Run After Midnight?
Yes. The Q43 is a 24-hour route, and the official PDF includes departures during overnight hours.
For example, weekday eastbound trips from Jamaica include scheduled departures around 1:55 AM, 2:40 AM, 3:25 AM and 4:05 AM.
Overnight gaps can be much wider than daytime intervals. You should also check the correct calendar date when traveling shortly after midnight.
Q43 Holiday Schedule Rules
The official 2026 Q43 PDF identifies the following holiday operating patterns:
| Holiday | Scheduled service pattern |
|---|---|
| New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day | Sunday schedule |
| Independence Day and Presidents Day | Saturday schedule |
| Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas week | Reduced weekday schedule |
| Other days | Normally weekday service unless otherwise announced |
Holiday service may be changed by special notices. Check the MTA website for your actual travel date.
How Often Does the Q43 Bus Run?
The MTA’s Queens Bus Network Redesign published target average intervals by service period. These are useful for understanding the intended service level, but actual scheduled departures should be checked in the current timetable.

How Long Does the Q43 Take?
These durations show that a trip along the same route can take different amounts of time depending on the service period.
Riders traveling only part of the corridor should use their own boarding and exit stops rather than the full end-to-end duration.
Q43 Bus Stops: Jamaica to Floral Park
Current MTA-derived stop data lists 23 stops in each direction. The stop names and street sides are not identical on the outbound and return journeys.

Q43 Direction Signs: Jamaica vs Floral Park
Eastbound to Floral Park
Typical destination displayRUSH FLORAL PARK 268 ST via HILLSIDE AV
This direction travels away from Jamaica toward eastern Queens and Floral Park.
Westbound to Jamaica
Typical destination displayRUSH JAMAICA LIRR via HILLSIDE AV
This direction travels toward Jamaica LIRR, subway connections and Archer Avenue.
Three Common Direction Mistakes
- Reading only Q43: The same route number operates in both directions. Check the destination sign.
- Standing at an old stop: Some pre-redesign stops are no longer served by Q43.
- Using the opposite-side stop: Eastbound and westbound stop locations are not necessarily directly opposite each other.
Q43 Bus Fare, OMNY and Free Transfers
The regular MTA local bus fare is $3.00 in 2026. The Q43 is a Rush bus, but it uses the regular local fare rather than the express bus fare.
How to Pay With OMNY
- Prepare an accepted contactless card, phone, wearable or OMNY card.
- Board at the designated fare-payment entrance.
- Tap the OMNY reader.
- Check for payment confirmation.
- Use the same card or device for a qualifying transfer.
How Free Transfers Work
Eligible subway-to-local-bus, local-bus-to-subway and bus-to-bus transfers are generally available within the applicable two-hour window.
Use the same OMNY payment method on both legs. A bank card and the same bank card loaded into a mobile wallet may be recognized as different payment devices for fare-cap and transfer purposes.
How the 7-Day Fare Cap Helps Frequent Riders
Under the standard $35 OMNY fare cap, eligible local bus and subway travel is capped during a rolling seven-day period when using the same payment method.
If you use Q43 regularly for work or school, this may reduce the cost of repeated trips. Transfers and certain additional taps do not count as separate paid rides toward the cap.
Cash Payment and Children
The MTA’s June 2026 timetable states that exact change is accepted at the bus farebox. Bills, half-dollars and pennies are not accepted, and change is not provided.
Children under 44 inches tall can ride free when accompanied by an adult under the MTA’s applicable child fare rules.
How to Track the Q43 Bus in Real Time
MTA Bus Time shows approaching buses and stop-based arrival information. You can use it on a phone or computer without installing another application.
Track Q43 by Text Message
MTA Bus Time also supports text-message tracking, which can be helpful when mobile data is limited.
Find the six-digit bus stop code on the stop sign or in the MTA Bus Time map. Send the stop code followed by Q43.
Message format:
STOPCODE Q43
Replace STOPCODE with the actual six-digit code for your boarding stop.
Useful SMS Commands
- Stop code + Q43: Check approaching Q43 buses for the selected stop.
- R: Refresh recent arrival information when supported.
- C Q43: Request available service-change information.
Q43 Transfers to Subway, LIRR and Other Buses
Q43 is particularly useful for passengers traveling from eastern Queens to the Jamaica transportation network.
Q43 to Jamaica LIRR
Travel westbound on Q43 toward Jamaica LIRR. Use the Archer Avenue/Sutphin Boulevard terminal and follow signs for the appropriate Jamaica Station entrance.
If you need a specific train, confirm the LIRR departure time, platform and station walking route. A bus arrival time does not guarantee a rail connection.
Q43 to the E, J and Z Subway
The Sutphin Boulevard–Archer Avenue–JFK Airport subway station provides E, J and Z services. Check the route and direction of your train before entering the station.
Q43 to the F Subway
The Q43 serves the Hillside Avenue corridor near several F train stations. A transfer at Parsons Boulevard, 169th Street or another suitable station may be more convenient than traveling all the way to Archer Avenue.
Connecting to Q8 in Jamaica
Passengers traveling onward toward the 101st Avenue corridor, East New York or Gateway Center may need another bus rather than Q43.
Our Q8 bus timetable for Jamaica, 101st Avenue and Gateway Center explains that separate route and its stops. Check the walking distance between the two boarding locations before planning a connection.
Does the Q43 Go Directly to JFK Airport?
No. The Q43 does not serve JFK passenger terminals. It connects to Jamaica, where passengers can transfer to AirTrain JFK.
How to Travel From Q43 to JFK Airport
- Board a westbound Q43 toward Jamaica LIRR.
- Exit near Archer Avenue/Sutphin Boulevard.
- Follow the signed route toward Jamaica Station and AirTrain JFK.
- Check AirTrain service and the correct terminal.
- Pay the applicable AirTrain fare if required.
- Board the AirTrain for your airport terminal.
Traveling With Luggage?
Allow extra time for walking to the station, finding elevators, boarding AirTrain and reaching your terminal.
If an elevator is unavailable, look for the published accessible alternative rather than assuming every station entrance is usable.
Q43 vs Q1, Q3 and Q76: Which Should You Take?
Q43 is designed for faster movement through its designated Rush stops. Other local routes may be more practical when your nearest former Q43 stop was removed.
| Route | Useful distinction | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Q43 Rush | Fewer stops along Jamaica–Floral Park. | Designated Rush stop and headsign. |
| Q1 | Local stop coverage on parts of Hillside Avenue. | Local stop and destination. |
| Q3 | Shares relevant Jamaica/Hillside Avenue connections. | Where Q3 branches toward its own destination. |
| Q76 | Alternative local service on relevant sections. | Current stop map and route endpoint. |
Why the Nearest Local Bus May Be Better
Suppose your old Q43 stop was removed and the nearest Rush stop is a longer walk away. A local route closer to home may save overall travel time or make the journey easier, even if it stops more frequently.
This is particularly important for passengers traveling with mobility aids, heavy shopping, luggage or young children.
Our MTA bus schedule and New York route-planning guide explains the differences between route types, stop IDs, timetables and transfer methods.
Q43 Wheelchair Accessibility and Reduced Fares
MTA buses offer accessible boarding facilities, but a usable bus does not guarantee that every sidewalk, curb or subway elevator near the stop is unobstructed.
Micro-Steps for an Accessible Q43 Trip
- Find your nearest current Q43 Rush stop.
- Check the walking or wheelchair-accessible path.
- Confirm the stop is served in your intended direction.
- Review the bus’s arrival information.
- Check subway elevator status if transferring.
- Prepare any eligible reduced-fare credential.
- Request boarding assistance when needed.
Access-A-Ride
Eligible riders who cannot use the fixed-route system may qualify for MTA Access-A-Ride. Eligibility, reservations and service arrangements are separate from regular Q43 trips.
