Choose the Correct RTS Bus System Before Checking Routes, Times or Stops
RTS is not one national bus company. The abbreviation identifies Rochester’s Regional Transit Service in New York, Gainesville’s Regional Transit System in Florida and Redwood Transit System in Humboldt County, California.
This guide gives Rochester priority because it is the strongest match for “RTS bus schedule,” while still separating Gainesville and Humboldt routes so riders do not use the wrong timetable, fare, app or stop number.
Use the city and agency name—not the letters RTS alone—to choose the correct schedule.
Rochester, New YorkUse myRTS.com
Regional Transit Service covers Rochester and surrounding counties through RTS Connect, RTS On Demand and county services.
Gainesville, FloridaSchedule change soon
Summer service runs through August 16, 2026. Fall service begins August 17.
Humboldt County, CaliforniaCheck PDF date
Redwood Transit System operates through Humboldt Transit Authority and Ride Humboldt.
Do not combine agenciesWrong-system risk
Rochester route numbers, Gainesville route numbers and Humboldt timetables are unrelated.
Critical distinction: Rochester RTS uses Transit, RTS Go and the 20105 Where’s My Bus text service. Gainesville uses GNV RideRTS, RideRTS.app and the 844-899-1556 Bus Predictions Assistant.

The overview map is effective September 1, 2025. Individual Rochester schedules were updated June 29, 2026, so use the map for network orientation and the route PDFs for current times.

How to Find the Correct RTS Stop and Direction
City
Rochester, Gainesville or Humboldt.
Agency
myRTS, go-rts or HTA.
Route
Match the complete number.
Direction
Use the final destination.
Stop ID
Copy the posted number.
Alert
Check temporary relocation.
Open the official schedule for your city.
Do not search only for “RTS Route 1” because Rochester and Gainesville both use Route 1.
Select the correct service day.
Weekday, Saturday, Sunday, holiday, regular, reduced, summer and fall schedules can differ.
Match the bus destination.
The destination sign is safer than a generic inbound or outbound label.
Find the exact stop ID.
Opposite-direction stops at one intersection normally have different stop numbers.
Check the real-time prediction.
Use the correct city’s app or text service.
Arrive early.
Rochester RTS recommends reaching the stop approximately five minutes before the scheduled pickup.
How to Read an RTS Bus Timetable
Timepoints are selected stops
A PDF normally lists major stops rather than every bus stop. Estimate from the nearest timepoint or use live arrivals.
First run names a terminal
It does not mean the bus reaches every downstream stop at that same time.
Last run may begin before your stop
Determine when the final bus reaches your boarding location, not merely when it leaves the terminal.
A dash often means no service
It can indicate that a trip does not serve a listed timepoint or does not operate that day.
Reduced service is a different timetable
Gainesville route availability changes during reduced academic service periods.
Dashed map lines mean limited service
Rochester uses dashed route lines for services with limited dates, hours or frequency.
RTS Accessibility, Paratransit and Mobility Assistance
Rochester RTS Access
ADA-eligible riders can schedule paratransit through RTS Access. Ride requests can generally be made the previous day and up to seven days in advance.
Gainesville advance booking
RTS Plus app and web reservations can be made through 11:59 p.m. the day before and up to 14 days in advance.
Accessible vehicle does not equal accessible stop
Construction, snow, slopes, missing sidewalks and temporary stops can affect boarding.
Reasonable modification
Contact the operating agency when a policy or procedure modification is needed for disability access.
Book the correct service: Rochester RTS Access and Gainesville RTS Plus are separate programs with different phone numbers, eligibility systems and reservation windows.
RTS Holidays, Detours, Seasonal Service and Weather
Rochester holidays
RTS runs a holiday Sunday schedule on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Gainesville seasonal service
The route network changes between summer, fall, spring, regular and reduced academic service periods.
Humboldt road conditions
Highway incidents, weather and construction can affect a long regional corridor more severely than a short city route.
Temporary stop closure
A stop can remain visible while service is moved to another corner or nearby shelter.
School and campus routes
Rochester school direct services and Gainesville university routes can change during breaks.
Airport trips
Allow extra time on Rochester Route 23, Gainesville Route 26 or any regional route used for a flight.

RTS Bus Schedule Frequently Asked Questions
Which city does “RTS bus schedule” usually mean?
Rochester’s Regional Transit Service is the strongest general search match, but Gainesville and Humboldt County also operate transit services known as RTS.
Is Rochester RTS the same as Gainesville RTS?
No. They have different operators, route numbers, timetables, fares, apps, stops and customer-service contacts.

The current Monroe County route schedules are effective June 29, 2026. The system map PDF is older, so use individual route PDFs for current times.
How do I track a Rochester RTS bus?
Use the Transit app or text the numeric stop ID to 20105 through the official Where’s My Bus service.
How much is a Rochester RTS bus ride?
The published RTS Connect adult fare is $1. Reduced fare is 50¢ for qualifying riders. RTS On Demand uses a separate $3 adult fare.
When does Gainesville’s fall RTS schedule begin?
Fall regular and reduced service begin August 17, 2026. Summer service ends August 16.
How do I get Gainesville RTS arrival predictions?

How much is Gainesville RTS?
The published adult cash fare is $1.50 and the 24-hour pass is $3. Reduced and free-fare programs require the applicable identification.
What is Redwood Transit System?
Redwood Transit System is a Humboldt Transit Authority fixed-route service operating along the Humboldt County US 101 corridor.
Why does the Humboldt RTS PDF show an older date?
The document currently linked from the official HTA route page carries an October 3, 2024 date. Riders should compare it with current notices before relying on a departure.
Why does an RTS bus not appear in the tracker?
The trip may not have started, the bus may have lost GPS reporting, the vehicle may be out of service or the route may be following a detour.
Should I arrive before the scheduled time?
Yes. Rochester RTS recommends arriving approximately five minutes early because published times are approximate and traffic can affect operations.
