Official Links and Research Methodology
This methodology explains how we research, organize and present U.S. bus schedule information using official and primary sources.
busschedule.us/ is designed for riders who need official-source guidance for routes, stops, maps, phone numbers, addresses, alerts, fares and practical trip planning steps in plain language.
Our research method
Our research method begins with official sources. If an agency publishes the route page, map, timetable, fare page, customer-service number and alerts, those sources should guide the article. We use secondary references only when they help explain context and do not conflict with official information.
Some agencies publish rider information in simple pages. Others rely on PDFs, regional portals, trip planners, GTFS feeds, agency apps or data portals. Our page structure is designed to make that path easier for normal users.
We identify the official agency, route page, schedule source, map source, fare source and alert source.
We explain what a user should click and what they should verify before travel.
We look for dates, revision notes, alerts and holiday-service notices that affect accuracy.
Source types
| Topic | How we handle it |
|---|---|
| Route page | Best source for route name, direction, map links, timetable links and rider notices. |
| PDF schedule | Useful when it includes effective dates, day-by-day timetables and map diagrams. |
| GTFS data | Useful for route, stop and scheduled-service structure, but not final for live alerts. |
| Service alert | Important for detours, stop closures, events, weather and temporary changes. |
| Customer-service page | Used for phone numbers, support hours, lost-and-found and accessibility contacts. |
How we publish a guide
- Identify the exact rider intent.
- Collect official links and check that they open correctly.
- Compare schedule pages with alerts, PDFs and trip planners where available.
- Write practical steps in simple language.
- Add cautions for details that can change quickly.
- Review mobile readability, broken links and factual clarity.
